Blue Friday...

Happy Friday,

I had a fab time at the NEC yesterday It was like a bus man's holiday as Sue Wilson, Julia Watts and I took a day off together and toured the show as customers.  We had a really fun day with loads of laughs and shopping as well as the odd chocolate brownie!  We all said it was fun meeting people on the other side of the desk and not demonstrating from within a stand as we have been doing recently with Stitches etc.  I will pop some pictures up on Face book later (Johnathan Lockwood on Face book if you want to Friend me) It was also really amazing to see my stamp sets on sale as I hadn't yet seen them in a retail  shop.  Julia will be demoing on the Craft world stand on Saturday, I will be at the Strikes Garden centre in Northalerton on Saturday and all three of us will be back together demoing at the Big Stamp and Scrap booking event at Alexandra Palace on the 11th and 12th of April.

Back to today and quite a simple card again where the stamping does most of the work for you.  I used my flower frames and sentiment set for this one and stamped the main Lilly image using perfect medium onto Cobalt foundation card and embossed it with Cosmic Shimmer true white detail embossing powder.  I added the sentiment, with deepest sympathy, which is one that I feel one of us like using but is, unfortunately, one we all need in our craft stash.  This set has loads of other sentiments and is not all built around the sympathy which means it is really flexible.

I had cut the stamped panel out leaving thin border and stamped a second version of the flowers in the same matted, cut them out and foam mounted them over the original.  This gives the front piece some depth and interest without being too fussy.

The card base was made by running a 18x18cm square of the cobalt card through the quilted flowers embossing folder from Creative expressions and I added a cosmic pearl PVA dot at all the junctions.  I matted this onto coconut white foundation card and foam mounted the piece onto a card cut at 21x21cm and layered with the cobalt and coconut.

To finish off I added a messy bow and strip of blue white seam binding and a couple of pearl sprays.

Ingredients:
CE clear stamps Flower frames and sentiments - by Me
Cobalt and Coconut white foundation card
Cosmic Pearl PVA
Blue white seam binding
Perfect Medium
Cosmic Shimmer true detail White embossing powder.

Enjoy...

A striking card. Always think of paler tones for sympathy but this looks equally as elegant in the cobalt. What was hilarious yesterday, was Sue saying that you got recognised before her and Julia lol! And those brownies. . . . .ummm (and available by mail order, did you know!)
    Chill out day today matey!

  25. Hi John

Lovely card, the blue is a change from white and pastel colours normally used for bereavement cards. Jealous of your fun day yesterday, especially the chocolate brownies! Must've been a real buzz seeing your stamps on sale too.

  33. Love the card John - the embossing is fab and love the colour way too xx don't personaly like the sentiment but that is purely personal and in the unfortunate circumstances of needing to send one of these cards I send a Thinking of You card but that is only due to receiving Sympathy cards and how it made me feel!! sorry not being negative because as I say the card itself is lovely xx GailT xx
