Scene Box Tutorial...

Happy Wednesday,

Im sorry its taken longer than I planned but the Scene Box tutorial should be live today  I have added the link below and this should show you the easiest way to put the Scene Box together.  Todays card is the one made on the tutorial with a simple front and all the interest being inside!

If you'd like to see how the box was made watch the tutorial.  I will be filming a video for the inside of the box later in the week but for now its relatively simple.  I embossed the Snowdrops embossing folder by crafts too using izink pigment ink in Sky blue and Aqua using the letterpress technique.

Next I cut the three main dies in the Snow Scenes die set onto white pearl card.  I trimmed these down and painted glue onto the tops of the seven and the main area before adding Crafts Too chunky clear glitter.  I then used foam tape to add the highest hill to the background adding the next 2 layers, with more foam tape, lower down to build the scene.

Ingredients:

JND Scene Card Box Die set
JND Snow scenes Die Set
Crafts Too Snowdrops embossing folder
Izink Pigment Ink Pads Sky Blue and Aqua

Round Box tutorial...

Happy Saturday,

As promised here is the tutorial for the round box from last Saturday!  Its pictorial as I feel this is the best method outside a youtube video!

To make the box cut a strip 4" wide by the diameter of your chosen circle die ( if you are unsure of the diameter get a rough idea using a piece of twine or ribbon.  Score this at 3.5" and cut small slits into the shorter edge up to the score line.

You will also need 2 large circles and three smaller circles ( as shown pin the picture.

Next adhere each of the tabs you created to one of the smaller circles until it is covered.  This is easier if you bend the card round to give some shape.

Seal the 2 edged that meet to make a round box as shown in the next picture.

Next add the larger circle to the base making a neat and finished edge ( this will take some playing with until you are happy with the fit.

Make the decorative element for the lid of your box I used felt roses, ribbon and the Tonic trellis circle die.

on the rear of the lid  add a strip of ribbon to act as the closure and add a smaller circle over the top.  This isn't just for decorative reasons the different in the size creates the edge that sits on the top of the box. ( sorry its really hard to explain)

Finally use the ribbon as a hinge and the box is finished and is (hopefully) pretty inside and out.

Monday Giveaway & Tutorial...

Happy Monday,

Back to normality today with the Monday giveaway.  I hope some of you were able to catch my show yesterday I know its a big ask on a Sunday certainly at lunchtime lol

Today's card is one of the samples I used for the show and was really liked by Alex!  I thought you might like it and a chance to own this card as well.

I had lots of questions asking how did I make the original I'm hoping you managed to see the version I mad on air as it was different with a mica watercoloured background.

I stared by stamping my daisy striplet in Cosmic shimmer true white embossing powder onto acetate (using perfect medium)  I heat set this and added Phill Martin's decadent denim PVA as the centre of each daisy to give some depth.

Next I cut an aperture in a piece of periwinkle foundation card and mounted this above the stamped acetate.

I then used a piece of double sided adhesive sheet and added decadent denim mica powder all over the sheet.  The adhesive was stuck down to another piece of card.  I then from mounted the stamped panel above the mica'd piece.

I matted and layered the piece to make a larger card using a piece of card onto which I had sprayed decedent denim ink spray mister.  This gave the card a lovely textural feel and made the dark shades harmonise.

Finally I added a ribbon tie and messy bow made form seam binding that I sprayed with the mister.  I sprayed this with the ribbon all looped together ( see picture for what i mean) so that I got a misty or ombre look to the bow.

Ingredients:
Phill Martin Cosmic Shimmer Decadent Denim
Ink Spray mister
Mica Powder
PVA Pearl
True white detail embossing powder
JL Daisy Striplet stamp
Acetate
Periwinkle foundation card

To win this card just leave a comment below!

Gift Bag Giveaway!

Happy Sunday,

I thought, as promised, I should give the measurements for the gift bags I made On Hochanda using the Craft Consortium decoupage papers on Friday.  I also thought I would give a couple of them away along with a couple of the baubles we made.

The measurements for the first A4 bag are:
Score at 2cm, 4cm, 14cm, 16cm, 18cm, 28cm.

This creates all the score you need across the Landscape paper.  Next turn the paper so that it is Portrait and score across at 4cm.

To win one of these bags simply leave a comment on toadies post and I will draw a couple of winners on Monday for announcement on Tuesdays blog.

The winner of Fridays giveaway was Teresa, if you email me on Lockers@live.co.uk with your address I will end the aqua and white pear; card to you.  There will be another card giveaway tomorrow.

Don't forget I have a 2 hour masterclass on Stamps to Die for today on Hochanda at 2pm with Alex.  This show is designed to show different tips and techniques for using some of the stamps that have been designed to match the Sue Wilson die range exactly!

See you at 2pm on channel 39, Sky 663 or in HDTV live on www.hochanda.com

Something Different Saturday repeat II...

Happy Saturday,

I am sorry to say that todays different is, again, a repeat however once again I have shot a video for this one and its below on the blog.  As with the standard when I make a video tutorial I have made a differebt version for the tut however this time I havent mad a different colour or style today it's a different size.

What I have also added is the tutorial, on the end of the video, for the gift tag because there were a lot of questions on this one when I first posted it!

The original, which can be seen in the pictures, was A3 sized however cutting this can be difficult for showing on the video so I have made this in A4 size which make s a really sweet bag and all the measurements can be scaled up to make the bigger version.

I hope the video gives you some ideas perhaps Christmas gift bags next?!?

Something Different Saturday..a Box!

Happy Saturday,

As promised on Monday today's something different is made using the Sue Wilson Spanish Collection Background die.  This time I have used it as a box lid by die cutting and inking 2 of the die cuts and rotating them to create an equal square box lid.

I have already, I can hear the gasps, shot the video for this one and it is just below.  I made this box the day before I shot my new round of videos and thought I should add this one so that if anyone wants to make a similar one they don't have to wait for the usual count of weeks until I tell you how to make it!

I have called this one a chocolate box as firstly the gingerbread chalk ink along with the chocolate brown card made me think of chocolate but also because I am intending to use this to hold some of my hand made chocolates as a thank you gifts to friends here in Spain before I leave!

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Spanish Collection Background Die
White Hammered PMD cardstock
Chocolate Brown PMD cardstock
Gingerbread Chalk Ink

Let me know what you think of the project and the video, I know I need to get more professional however I am hoping to shoot these better once I return to the UK.

It's a repeat...

Happy Saturday,

Whilst today is something different Saturday I thought It may be different to repeat a project as I have, finally, filmed the tutorial for the box for this one! As per usual I have made a different version for the tut so this is different. I have also added some new flowers made from satin ribbon and an idea I found in a quilting book.

I have featured this idea before so not much description, especially as there is a video tutorial on my videos page on making the hexagon frame.

The box tutorial is below and whilst this makes a lovely container for the frame it can be used for loads of other projects!

Let me know if you like the flowers and I'll work a tut for these too!  The good news is that I have shot a few videos in a row so there are more to come!

Enjoy...

What another Tutorial !?!

Happy Thursday,

Last Thursday I showed my take on the Sue Wilson Spanish collection background die and a tri fold card I had come up with.  This proved to be a big hit and I was asked for a tutorial. Now I usually do tutorials on techniques, this is the first time I have tried one on a whole card.  I have to admit it was a little difficult as it runs long and due to the restrictions of my camera it had to be shot in five segments however it's done and below.

Usually I make another version of what I am showing however the card needs to be the same to match the original however nothing said I had to make it in the same colours, nor decorate it the same way.  Today's card is the one I made during, and a little after as it takes me more than 15 minutes to finish a card, the shoot.

There are probably too many pictures of this one but I just loved both the colour combination and the different way I decorated this one.  The video is the next picture so, if you have 20 minutes or so to spare, click to watch.

I'm sure you can all come up with different ways to decorate this and even different dies to try, I tried a reverse fold version of this last Thursday click HERE if you missed it. If you do make one please send me a picture as my follower gallery, which I set up to show what cards people had made and sent pictures of to me, is looking a little sparse!

More Flippin easter Box's

Happy Wednesday,

This is the post that should have gone live on Sunday however I think it is because of the video tutorial

This is the final, for a while anyway, flip box.  This is the project I was planning when I did the tutorial on using the Spellbinders A2 filigree delight die without the edge cutting, to see the tutorial (its now on you tube) Click HERE.

What I wanted was to make the chocolate holding box as easily as possible using one sheet of card without having to stick loads on.  I will film a tutorial on this for next week however it is made with an A3 sheet of card.

As you can see from this piece the filigree is cut however the edges are not meaning that I didn´t need to layer the front piece up, measurements will be on the tutorial as I am writing this late and I cant remember the measurements!

This box holds an Easter bunny (not a lindt one I´m not made of money, but a Spanish Aldi one!)

Next is supposed to be the video tutorial however this is what failed in the first place so It doesn't work properly so its starts halfway through! lol

The box is made from one piece of A3 card which is cut to 23 cm wide.  I scored this, from the front edge, at 3cm, then 12cm, then 3cm then the remaining piece will be 12cm.  Next I scored across the width at 3cm from each edge.  This makes the fold lines for the box, hopefully the video will show the cuts and folds that make this.  Here are the insides...
