Christmas Bling...

Happy Tuesday,

Well I held off as along as I could but you know I am a Christmas Card (and the whole Christmas thing) addict!  So today here is my fist card for 2015 which, of course, uses a collection of Sue Wilson's new festive collection for Creative expressions.  On this first card I had to add one of the matching stamps to die for the 'Twas the night background stamp as I drew this one for Sue!

I stared by stamping the background (A6 sized) in perfect medium then I embossed it using cosmic shimmer detail gold embossing powder onto rich red foundation card.  I cut this out and mounted it onto a mat of vintage gold foundation card.

Next I cut a large square of the rich red (18x18cm) and added  a strip of the gorgeous snowflake border cut in the vintage gold to the right hand side.  I mounted the stamped image to the left and tied a strip of two tone satin ribbon in red around the right hand side and added a bow.  I left the knot 'naked' as I love the way you can see the two tones of the red at this point.

To finish I cut the Merry Christmas die once form gold and once from rich red.  I mounted the gold on top of the red however i slightly offset the gold sentiment to give a shadow.

I hope you like the rich red and gold of my first Christmas Card of 2015, trust me there are many more to come!

No Christmas Bling...

Happy Monday,

I thought it would be nice, as everyone is showing Christmas at the minute, to show some bling that isn't festive!  Todays card was made at at demo day a few weeks ago as everyone always asks to see Sue's Fire and Ice technique and I thought the ornate pierced noble square was perfect for it!

I started by making the card blank using the largest die in the set ( fold a piece of A4 coconut white card in half then place the die up to the edge of the fold making sure that the cutting edge is above the fold so that you get a hinge)  Next I used the filigree die and the next frame size down (using my system dies 2 and three and cut the filigree and apart in the centre.

I then cut the centre die in the middle of a piece of coconut white card stock.  next I cut the outline and word from another scarp of card using the Expressions Thank You die set.

Next I used Sue Wilson's fire and Ice technique to decorate each of the three separate pieces.  I was going to write a description of this however I remembered that Sue had done a you tube video on this so I thought it would be best to just insert her video and save you form having to work it out form my badly typed instructions!

If the video isn't showing you can view it by Clicking HERE

I then layered the card together and added some antique white double sided satin ribbon and a bow to give some relief from the bling!

Mulled Wine gilding Flakes
Iced Snow

Sunday Stamping

Happy Sunday,

I hope you are all enjoying the reveal of the New Sue Wilson Christmas dies over at Sues blog!  There's a Chance to win one of the new releases by commenting!  I will be showing some creations with the dies next week!

Today's card is made just using my Daisy Chains clear stamp set and true detail what embossing powder on Spearmint Foundation card.

I started by stamping the square daisy frame onto the spearmint and embossing it,  I then added a 5mm white pearl in the centre of each flower.  Next I stamped and embossed the heart frame, fussy cut it out and foam mounted it above the other frame.  Finally I stamped the sentiment and mounted this above.

To make up the card I framed the stamped piece with a die cut from Sue's New York Herald square die set in Coconut white.  I then cut a mat using the largest die in the herald sure set.

Next I made a series of mats and layers in the spearmint and white to make this 20x20cm card.

A simple card that's effect is all in the framing!

Simple Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

Just a simple card today I am demoing at Strikes Garden Centre in Daleside today, pop in if you are in the area!

Today's card was made at a demo day a few weeks ago when I was asked about men's cards.  I have a simple approach to men's cards, what I do is to make a similar card to my usual fare I just make them in Masculine colours and make them less fussy (far less flowers is usually a start!)

This card is a version of the delicate Canadian background card I made a few weeks ago in Primrose and Milk foundation card.  The colours were chosen by the people attending the demo and we felt that making it ion Taupe and Black would make it more Male!

I started by die cutting the outline die from the Canadian background die in the taupe.  Whilst in the die I hand cut the aperture (using my scalpel) by running it along the edge of the inside of the die.  I left a large 2cm wide border around the die cut.

Next I cut an aperture in the middle of an A5 piece of black card using the die as a guide and again my scalpel.  I adhered the die cut over the aperture and added a 1.2cm border all around.

Next I cut the centre die from the same background ( the pieces have been separated in this background to make it easier to cut and to give greater flexibility) set in the centre of a larger piece of the taupe card and foam mounted the frame over this.  I then added a black layer and again left a larger border.

Finally I added a stamped sentiment (from my daisy Chains clear stamp set) stamped on the taupe card in black archival ink.  I added one of the classic folder flowers (the larger one) cut in coconut white foundation card to which I added a sprinkling of iced snow so that there was a little but of bling! To lift the card I added cosmic pearl PVA at the centre of each flower,

Aqua Version...

Happy Friday,

Firstly I would like to thank the lovely ladies at the workshop yesterday we all had a real laugh  If you missed the workshop but would like to attend one then I have a few planned (as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago) at That's Really Crafty in Loughborough.  There are a few species left for the first one next Monday the 6th July click HERE for more details of the workshops and this brilliant treasure trove of a craft shop (it's my local craft shop so I pick up loads of stuff there!)  I wonder sometimes how Christian manages to pack so much in!

As promised this is a different version of the card I shows yesterday.  We all had a fab time playing with all the different techniques and projects yesterday.  The Ladies came up with some brilliant cards and a couple of them made them in alternate colours (I love to see my projects come out differently and use other colours than my originals)

Today's card is made in Aqua which I think is just such a fresh looking colours especially when teamed with my ever present Coconut white! lol

I stared by die cutting the Portuguese collection background dies 1 and 2 (if counting as the largest being one and working in) in aqua foundations card I then cut a half centimetre around the die cut for a border.  Next I cut just die 2 from coconut white card and mounted the aqua die cut above, I then cut the coconut white outline 1/2cm wider.  I then cut dies 3 and 4 from aqua card then just die 4 from white.  I continued this to make each of the layers  finishing with the smallest die in the set in aqua and added it to a piece of coconut white card covered in double sided adhesive.  Finally I added some iced snow in the gaps and dusted decadent denim over the iced snow to give the variation in colour.

To make the remainder of the card I added a few layers of aqua and white to make a finished card.

The flowers are made using the perfect peonies complete petals in aqua and the open petals in white.

I finished the card by cutting the maidenhair fern dies in white adding the flowers on the top.  Finally I added some cosmic pearl PVA glue dots.

Creative Wednesday...

Happy Creative Wednesday,

A lighter and softer treatment today for the Lisbon die from the Portuguese collection.  I chose the colours first and just let the dies and embossing folder do all the work!

I started by embossing a 15x15cm square of Taupe foundation card and matting this on a 15.5x15.5cm mat of aqua card.  I then added mats and layers of the 2 colours to make a 21x21cm card.  I then rubbed pearl moon gilding wax over the embossed area and polished it off with a dry wet wipe.

To make the focal element I die cut the 2 largest of the Lisbon die set out of aqua foundation card then I added the filigree section to make the detailed frame.  Next I cut a piece of the taupe card using just the largest die in the set then added the filigree section and the next outline die down in the set( counting from the outside this would be die number 4 and number 5) and cut and embossed this.  I then cut a piece using the largest die (number 1) in aqua and placing the taupe piece over this I used it as a template to show me where to cut the last 2 dies in the set ( numbers 6 and 7) and i then cut and embossed this.

I know this sounds really complex but if you have the Lisbon set you will be able to make these instructions work!  Next I added all the pieces, mounted with from pads, on top of each other finishing with a piece cut with die number 1 in the taupe.

Finally I added a messy bow in antique white, a pearl embellishment, some stick pins and a liberal sprinkling of 3mm and 5mm white stick on pearls.

The design team for Creative Expressions have all been working with the Lisbon die and the stamping team have been working with decoupage pares and MDF tags so click HERE to see what they have come up with!

Thankyou in Silver...

Happy Tuesday,

I'm continuing the theme of Expressions today with this card made using the Thank You die which comes in 2 parts meaning that you can cut the words with the background and a perfect sized mat for behind it using the outline die.

On today's card I cut the thank you, with the outline die, in vintage Silver foundation card.  I then cut just the outline from a piece of coconut white card onto which i added double sided adhesive.  I then  attached the words to the mat and added diamond snow in the gaps (this is really hard to see in the pictures.

Next I added a spray of delicate fronds die cut in the silver.  I cut six of these and, using foam tape, arranged them peeping out behind the sentiment.

For the main body of the card I cut an aperture using the outline die form the Caribbean collection border die in a piece of ribbed white foundation card (part of the special finishes pack) I then cut the filigree section from the border die in a piece of the silver and foam mounted this behind the aperture.

Finally I added the sentiment on the right and mounted the whole piece on a card base made with a pierced border in silver.

Time to Enjoy...

Happy Monday,

One from the vaults today from the show samples I made for the last pick of the day shows upon Create and Craft earlier this year.  As I am sure you know I sign off my blog posts with the word Enjoy and I was over the moon when sue designed an Enjoy die!  This is the first one I cut form the Expressions range and made this card with the resultant piece!

To make the card I die cut the oval from the Austrian collection salzburg die in periwinkle blue and then cut a smaller aperture using the oval from the Vienna die in coconut white.  I mounted these above each other and cut the white piece with a slightly larger border.

next I cut 4 of the ornamental corners (the set contains 2 dies which are designed as opposites of each other) in cobalt card and mounted them as a frame around the blue card.  I then simply added the Enjoy die cut in white and then added a few layers of the periwinkle, cobalt and coconut white card to make this 5x7" card.

To add some interest to the front I made a spray of camels using both the complete and open petals in what.  I added these to a messy bow in white seam binding with a couple of pearl stick pins.

To pick out the detail on the corner pieces I added some dots of cosmic pearl PVA and finished.  Hopefully a card you can send for any occasion and one that's worth having for those moments when we need to send one quickly!

Simple Sunday...

Happy Sunday,

I had a Fab time yesterday with everyone at Pickwell farm and am looking forward to a return visit in August!  I will hopefully post some pics join Monday or Tuesday!

I am demoing at the Newbury papercraft show on the 4th July for the art of Craft.  For more details click HERE!

Today's card is a simple card made with one of Sues early release Striplet dies.

I simply cut the tethered hearts die centre in primrose card mounting onto a sheet of coconut white card covered in double sided adhesive.  Next I added diamond snow to add a little bit of shimmer.  I then cut the outline die from the tethered hearts striplet and foam mounted this over the top.

Finally I added a stamped sentiment from my Lotus elements clear stamp set and added a few stick on pearls and layers of the white and primrose.

This makes a great standby card for any occasion as the intricacy belies the simplicity of the card.

Chance to see Sue Wilson Demo!

Happy Saturday,

Today I am back in the swing of things and am doing a workshop at Pickwell farm in Southampton The workshop is fully booked however they are planning to do one again in August so I will let you know if there the date of the next one in case it is near you and you fancy a day of dieting and stamping with me!

Back to today and I thought a quick visit to Canada was in order, this is a  card I made for my demo at Crafty Knits in Chorley using Cobalt blue and pumice foundation card.  As I may have stated a few times I am in love with the Canadian collection background and the versatility.  for this card all I did was to use the inside section of the die and repeated it across a page of pumice card to make the back panel.

Next I cut a frame in a square of cobalt card to fit over the panel and foam mounted this to fit.  I then cut a thin frame of the pumice stone card with an aperture of 11 x 11cm and glued on four of the new petite arched adornment die cuts form the configurations collection in pumice.

To finish the card I made a set of frames in the pumice and foam mounted the edges of the arches onto them and added a few layers of cobalt and pumice to make this 21 x 21cm finished card.

Delays Delays...

Happy Friday,

Well down to my usual lack of scheduling and a few hours delay on my flight back from Egypt then todays post is a little late!  For some reason I couldn't get my head round the 7 day thing as well as the time difference so there was no post scheduled for today!  Suffice to say That I had a fab relaxing time and managed to recharge my batteries in the sun!

A bright sunny card for today, another form my shows for C&C US.  This is made using the technique of adding clear embossing powder over an embossed panel and heating it.  This gives the look of a glazed tile and in the case of this primrose card, intensifies the colour.

This is again a short post as although I should be going to bed I have prep to do for tomorrow workshops at Pickwell farm and I am due at CE Towers at 9am! (really need an assistant to plan my time lol)

Enjoy...

Heres another card from the U.S shows for Create and Craft this time using my favourites from Sue's Italian collection mixed with the Open and complete petal daisies.

Ive used a mixture of coconut white, lilac and and iced snow for this one.

More tomorrow,

Day 7 Creative Wednesday...

Happy Wednesday,

Well I travel home tomorrow just In time for some workshops in Pickwell farm on Saturday!  Its Wednesday which means its time for my Design Team creation for the CE design team.  Once again I am showing something different that can be made with the same die set, its the Lisbon set and today I have teamed it again with the cobalt yardstick however I have used the Stamp to Die for that matches this die called Floribunda which has a hand drawn image of a spray of peonies.  I thought it would look stunning embossed with true white detail embossing powder form Cosmic Shimmer so that's exactly what I have done!

I stamped the image three times using perfect medium on cobalt card them embossed each one.  I then cut out the flowers from 2 of the stamped images and made some of the flowers 3 layers go decoupage so that they appear to be 3D!

To make the remainder of the card I used the largest die form the Lisbon set and cut an aperture in the centre of a piece of coconut white foundation card. I then ran this through the A4 bed of roses embossing folder from CE and highlighted the debased side using summer blue gilding wax which i polished off using a dry wet wipe.

At my demo a couple of weeks ago I showed people the different between an embossed panel that had been covered in the gilding wax one that had been polished and one not.  It really does make a difference and polishing off the excess wax will make a big difference and add a brilliant shine.

I finished the card with a few layers of blue and the white and added a messy bow using white and heather seem binding. finishing it with dark blue dazzler.

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft dies by Sue Wilson
Lisbon die set
Stamps to die for Floribunda
Coconut white and cobalt foundation card

cosmic shimmer true white detail embossing powder.

Day 6...

Happy Tuesday,

I'm starting to feel bad about these short posts I really hope you all don't think I'm just "phoning it in" lol

Today's card is hopefully giving you some sunny colours that will match the weather I hope you are all getting!  I have just checked and where I am on holiday the temperature is supposed to be over 45 degrees!

This is the last sample I made for Julia Watts and is again using the new collection form Couture Creations Whilst discussing Couture Creations I must say a quick Hi to Carol form Australia (which is where these dies come from) who should be home in Ox by now and brought me a beautiful paper based gift form there when she was over last month (I will be showing some creations with this later in the month)

Although it looks complex today's card is just a series of squares cut in the primrose card I had on my stamp shows in April and coconut white.  I let the die cuts do all the work on this one and just added some raw silk double sided satin ribbon around the back and a bow to balance (I know some will think this is a little large but it is a large 21 x 21 cm card!)

Enjoy...

Day 5...

Happy Monday,

I hope you have stuck with me through these quick posts there are only a few more to go as I am back on Thursday or Friday (details details lol)

A shaker card today made using the couture creations dies form Julias shows.  Today I teamed them with Aqua and white using the Tied Together embossing folder which has always been a favourite of mine form Couture Creations.  behind the acetate I have added some iced snow so that when you move the card the iced snow moves.

Enjoy...

Day 4...

Happy Sunday,

Hopefully It will be a sunny Sunday wherever you are 'crus I'm hoping it is where I am!  Another Holiday Quickie, I feel I should explain as my posts are not scheduled very far in advance and with the sheer quantity of work I have on when I am away I haven't a bank of posts ready to schedule so I put together quick posts really hope my lovely blog family don't mind!

Today's card is another demo card from C&C America made very simply using the dandelion meadow stamp to die for along with the Salzburg die form Sue Wilson.  I sometimes feel that the simple and clean cards are more difficult to do!

Enjoy...

Day 3...

Happy Saturday,

AS I may have mentioned I am away at the moment recharging the batteries so hopefully will come back itching to craft and full of new ideas!

Todays card is another of the Demo cards I made on C&C america using the Spanish collection form Sue Wilson.  I know I don't use a lot of green however the beautiful leaf motif that flows through this collection just cried out for some bright green and for once a little glitter (and its not even christmas)

Enjoy...
