Simple Sunday...

Happy Sunday,

A simple card from my shows this week on Hochanda which is so simple to make but a really effective card.  The panels are cut from the shadow box die along with the show form the retail therapy accessory set.

The second card is made using the same die and embossing folder this time using the water form the shoe die cut as the main element and a shoe cut in red to  make the pair!

fancy a Coffee?...

Happy Saturday,

Today finds me doing my last workshop of the year at JGD crafts in sutton in ashfield.  I have arranged a good friend to sort my diary for next year for me so there will be, after Christmas is out of the way, a new page listing all my demos and workshops with Links where possible.

Todays card was a demo on Hochanda in the 9am hour yesterday however I did manage to spill PVA dimensional glue over the card as finishing so its well worth a look on rewind if you want a laugh!

This is shaker card with a difference made with the garden shadow box and filled with coffee beans so it smells really homely!

I simply cut the elements from the thanks a latte accessory set in chestnut foundation card.  I then added cosmic white and chocolate brown to make the cream or foam on the latte and on the muffin and donut.

to see exactly how this was made watch on Hochanda rewind HERE.

Show Twofer mark 2...

Happy Wednesday,

I thought I would share another twofer today as I can't decide which card to make first win tonights show so I thought I would ask my Blog family which they would prefer.

The first option is made using the Get Well shadow box accessory die set along with the in the garden Shadow Box die set.

I borrowed the idea from Sue Wilson for the pill bottle using mints and will demo this and the rest of the card.

I used the rest of the dies in the set fro fill the other boxes in the shadow box die and the plasters and get well going over the boxes.

The second card is using the same shadow box die however this time I used the garden accessories that come with the die set to make the card.

I cut the shadow box in colour core card and sanded it back to give the old wood look.

Let me know which card you think I should demonstrate first tonight at 8pm on Hochanda!

Something Different Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

Well its back to reality today as I am demoing at one of my favourite places Sew Simple in Norwich. I will also be running a series of workshops there on Sunday so pop in and say hi today or see if you can fit in tomorrow ( I belle its fully booked but you never know)

I thought Today I would show you one of the cards I will be demoing  using Sue Wilson's fabulous new range of dies as well as the Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders and Gilding polishes.  This one uses nay absolute favourite the Stitched lattice background form the Shadow Box collection.

I stared by cutting the lattice in black foundation card I then cut the same die in rich red and I extended the pattern by putting the die back into the cut further along ( this is a favourite trick of mine that I always try to demo)

I offset the back trellis over the red and foam mounted this above.  I then cut a frame for the trellis using the smallest and largest stitched frames that come with the set and placed this above.

Next I cut a series of the equate poppies in watercolour card and soaked them in water.  I then shot Red Lava and midnight pixie powders over thesis to give the varied colours in the petals making the poppies, in my opinion, more realistic.  I made up the poppies and added a 3mm black pearl in the centre of each before arranging these with the olive branch die cut in Brunswick green foundation card.

To make the bow I soaked American seam binding in blue white with all the pixie powders that were left on my craft sheet.  This ,makes a shaded ribbon that matches as well as helping with clean up!

I made up some smaller poppies and placed these at the opposite corn to frame the lattice.

Finally I stamped the sentiment, from my Tulip elements clear stamp set ( this set is currently on offer on www.juliawattscrafts.co.uk) onto coconut white foundation card.  I then used the Belgium collection tags cut in red and black to cut this out and frame the sentiment.  I placed this in the centre , with mounting cushion of course) and added a couple more pearls.

A dramatic card but full of loads of techniques which always makes for an interesting demonstration.

Designed for me...

Happy Wednesday,

Well I have to admit that this die form the new range by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions wasn't designed for me however I just like to think it was as its perfect for me and my crafting.  I have already made so many cards with this one however I wanted to show this card that was the first I made as it just jumped out a me!

I stared this by cutting the shadow box stitched lattice background into periwinkle foundation card to make the first layer/.  next I cut the same lattice form coconut white foundation card, I then placed the die back into the cut area further along to extend the panel.  Next I offset the whole under the blue to create the argyle pattern shown.  Next I added a 3mm white pearl to the centre of each diamond lattice which, whilst time consuming, really highlights the beautiful stitch lines of the pattern.

Next I cut a coconut white stitched frame using the largest and smallest double stitched frames that come in the set and foam mounted this over the  lattice pattern.  I added a periwinkle backing layer and placed this onto an embossed layer, embossed with the Blossom Brocade A4 embossing folder, I highlighted the embossing with the Pearl Lustre metallic gilding polish ( this is so easy to use and quick really good if you have spent 10 minutes sticking on pearls lol)

I next cut the detail and outline dies from the Gillian frames and tags set and backed this with the periwinkle. I studded this with pearls and made up three of the elegant poppies in coconut white shaded with Clear Day Colour Cloud Blending ink.  I cut three centres and shaded these in the same way before adding these, with another pearl, in the centre of each flower and arranging these on the Gillian.

I stamped the sentiment in the colour cloud and cut it out with the medium sized pierced flags die.  I added some of the lace edged leaves a few layers of the periwinkle and coconut white and finished.
