Another Swirl...

Happy Tuesday,

Another card using the Snowflake Swirl die this time a simple card but I have to admit I love the simplicity of the colours mixed with the complexity of the die.

I started by cutting apiece of the Yale Blue lustre print card to 4.5" wide which is perfect size for the die to fit diagonally across the bottom.  I cut the die and then added a pice of scrap acetate across the bottom of the pice the cut came from and placed the die cut pice bak in.

Next I added a panel of silver glitter card, the same no shed as yesterday, along the bottom with foam top and simply added the press cut Seasons Greetings in the bottom corner.

As per usual with me I added a few mats and layers in matching colours and a sprinkling of stick on crystals.

More Snowflake Swirls...

Happy Monday,

The countdown is on to the release of my new range on Thursday, I will post a sneak peak on Wednesday however to see the full range you will need to tune into Hochanda on Thursday at either 8am, 12pm or 4pm!

Back to today and I used the Amy design snowflake swirl circle die this week I am using the pair to that die the straight snowflake swirl.  When I saw these 2 dies I couldn't choose between them so in typical crafter way I chose both!  In todays card I have used the swirl cut 4 times in Yale Blue lustre print card ( more of this on the shows on Thursday) and placed them around a frame cut in silver glitter card ( no shed from Pink Frog) and white using the stitch dot rectangle dies from press cut.

I used the frame to frame a piece i stamped at the Crafters Companion evesham store demo on Saturday.  I simply added layers of the glitter, yale blue and white card to make the finished card.  A sprinkling of crystals and finished.

Pearl and Aqua Swirl...

Happy Monday,

I thought I had exhausted the cards I made with the find it snowflake swirl die however I found this one lurking in my files and its another way to use the die this time as a base for Poinsettias.

I used a mother of pearl card ( on my next Hochanda shows) for this card and cut the apeture in the centre before embossing the piece with my rustic frame embossing folder.  I added a layer to this in aqua cutting a smaller circle in the centre.  I backed this with a piece of white card embossed with the winter trees embossing folder.  Finally for this part I added acute behind the top layer and added the Christmas die cut ( From Press cut) on the acetate so that it appears to float.

I cut the snowflake swirl die in aqua and added this around the base of the circular aperture.  I then cut a load of poinsettias in the pearl card and added these over the swirl with bow of aqua and white seam binding over this.  I then added the fall away snowflakes from the swirl die in the centre of the flowers with a pearl in the centre.

I added all of this to a larger card as shown using the falling snow embossing folder from crafts too.

White Snowflakes...

Happy Friday,

Another card made using the Amy Design Snowflake Swirl die  (Find It Media ADD10122)

To make today's version of the card I added silver gilt sheets to a piece of card covered in my double sided adhesive.  I then embossed the piece using my snowflake circle embossing folder.

Next I layered a circle of silver mirror card over a circle of white pearl card.  I adhered the snowflake swirl die cut around the edge of the circle with silver snowflakes and crystals sprinkled over the die cut.  Finally I added the seasons greetings cut with the Press Cut die in white pearl card.

Finally I added layers of silver mirror card with white pearl card embossed with the crafts too falling snow embossing folder.  A few crystals in each corner and finished.

Silver Flakes...

Happy Wednesday,

I seem to have fallen for the combination of silver and white for this Christmas ( perhaps with a ,title duck egg or aqua) so heres another card made in the combination.

I stared by cutting the scentre form a piece of white card which I then embossed with my Rustic frame embossing folder.  I added a layer of silver mirror card with acetate behind.

I then added the new Amy Design (Find It Media) Snowflake swirl die ADD10122. Cut in Silver mirror card which really work for these fine die cuts.  I added crystals on the spots on the embossed image and along the corner.  I then made a frame using the pre-cut Plain and stitch doe squares.

The sentiment is form my Christmas scene clear stamp set and is stamped in izink silver pigment ink I placed this behind the acetate and added snow on the acetate with a white gel pen.

Gloss and Gold...

Happy Monday...

Fabulous weekend in the north looking forward to (edit I meant Returning! lol) retiring next year!

Todays card uses the Gold gilt sheets with just black and white to make a bold and confident card for today.

I started by adding gold gilt metal sheets to a piece of card covered in my double sided adhesive sheets.  I then die cut a circle in the centre and debossed the piece using the snowflake circle embossing folder.

Next I added ranger black gloss accents around the circle adding acetate behind the piece to make something to hold the snow in!

I added a panel behind the acetate with an embossed piece of white using the winter trees embossing folder.  I added snow over this and 2 deer cut in black gloss card before sealing this all with foam tape.

I added a further black gloss ( Pearl gloss card from Limetree crafts) on the front looking through the window.

I made up the card as shown using layers of embossed white, bright gold and black gloss.

Follow that star...

Happy Thursday,

A white on white card today using the gold lustre card along with white to make a different tonal look.

I stared by letterpressing the snowflake circle embossing folder with silver pigment ink pad from izink.  Once letterpresses I added clear embossing powder and heat set it to make the silver shine.

I then embossed circle of the gold lustre card and added the trees and star over the top both shadowed in silver mirror card.
I added a larger mat of the gold lustre again embossed at the back adding layers of white and silver mirror card along with a bow, star and crystals.

Not for posting...

Happy Tuesday,

Today's card is called not for posting as this would be an expensive card to post.  It can be posted as I took it to the NEC with not damage however it is quite deep!

I stared by cutting the poinsettia ) a find it media die) in lustre print glaze gold card by Crafts Too - I will have this card on my next show on Hochanda on the 30th November - The die cuts three sizes of poinsettia in each pass so i cut the die all over a sheet of A5 card to make many flowers.

Next I cut a wreath shape using 2 of the stitch dot circles.  I used this as a base and added the f,loded and shaped flowers around this with crystals in the centre.  This make the wreath the perfect size and round which is difficult without a base. I added this over a piece of scrap I had stamped with silver pigment ink and embossed.

Next I added a bow using wire edged ribbon, well if you are going for depth might as well have it! with another star buckle from Craft Consortium in the centre.

I made up the card as shown using layers of white and the gold lustre each embossed with my star stream embossing folder all layers with silver mirror card.

Enjoy...

Deer in the Snow...

Happy Friday,

Today is the second day of the NEC craft show It was so lovely to meet so many of my blog family yesterday and I am looking forward to welcoming more crafters into the John Next Door family today!  Pop along and say Hi if you are going I am on stand G45 next to the Hochanda studio.

Today's card is another using all the techniques and products I will be demonstrating.

I made the centre panel using then heart shaped media plate and a mix of Izink Pigment and Dye based ink pads.  We have a new mini version of the ink pads available at the show which I have loved playing with as they are so easy with the media plates.

I stamped the snowflakes over the background and added snow with my quarto snow and stars mask.  I then stamped the deer and the pine tree silhouette stamps over this.  I then added acetate over this which I had added white gel pen to to add the snow before adding the layers in white, gold and letterpresses gold embossed card.

I cut the find it media pine trees in black and added them at the bottom corner of the set of frames I had made up to reflect and balance the trees on the centre panel.

I added another piece of snow acetate behind this before adding to the layers of white black and gold to make up the card.

Away in a manger...

Happy Thursday,

Today is the first day of the Craft Hobby and Stitch show at the NEC in Birmingham and I will be there demoing on the John Next Door stand for all four days!  The next few days I will show you some of the cards and techniques I will be demonstrating over the next 4 days!

Today's card is a really simple stamping job using my Festive Silhouettes clear stamps and if you like this card you can easily replicate it with a different centre perhaps one made with the bauble media plate or even a pre printed topper.

I stamp the manger, and scene in the centre of a piece of white card.  I then added a layer of more white cut with the stitch dot circles.  I stamped the winter trees from the same set over this so that the trees continue over the layers ( you may have to look closely to see this as it shows better in real life)

I then added a thin gold mirror card layer in the between these.

I added a top layer which I embossed and letter pressed using the same Izink gold metallic pigment ink pad using my snowflake circle embossing folder with the centre removed.

I surrounded the final circle aperture using the find it media festive foliage cut in gold with white gloss accents on the berries.  I finally added poinsettia cut in gold dust iridescent card which I also used for some of the layers.

I finished with a layer embossed with the crafts too falling snow embossing folder and layers of white, gold dust and gold mirror card.

Santa Bauble...

Happy Friday,

Today I am starting to share some of the samples I have made using my new range of masks, stamps and media plates and I just love the colour of this card and the complex simplicity of it.

I stared by making the bauble using the bauble media plate and the Festive Scene clear stamp set.  I inked the plate with 2 shades of izink Pigment in and using the snowflakes and sonata on sleigh I used the resist technique to remove the ink from the plate giving the white pattern shown.

I cut this out using the stitch dot circle dies form Press cut and matted the circle onto silver and deep blue using more circles.  I added a spray of christmas foliage around the top and finished with a silver edged ribbon bow ( the centre diamond pearl was made for me by my friend Wendy)

For the background I added the deep blue pigment ink to the flat side of my snowflake circle embossing folder and ran white card through my platinum to give this letterpressed panel.  This is such a great technique to get more from your embossing folders.

I layered this onto more white, silver and blue before adding to a large 8x8" card blank.

Demo Scraps...

Happy Tuesday,

I had a wonderful time at the mini show at the Holiday in Kent on Sunday meeting so many lovely people.  One of the demos I did was this piece I have used for the centre of this card.  I love getting the pieces I have made on demos home so that I can, with my full craft stash as I can't take everything with me, make these into finished cards and samples.

Today's card is made using my Oval jedi-late as well as just 2 colours of ink and 3 stamps! I stared by adding blue and purple pigment into the media plate.  I then brayered this to smooth the ink and used 2 of the leaves from my circle leaves set to stamp onto the plate to pick up the ink and then stamping this onto the card.  I continued removing the ink and adding it back on 2 corners of the oval.  This gives, as shown stamped images that have both colours.

Next I stamped the oval so that the areas I had removed the ink show as shadowed showing the white card below.  I added more of the blue ink using the mini blending tool ( Finally back in stock for next Tuesday's Hochanda shows) and stamped this to gradient the oval.

I then stamped the butterfly stamp in the blue around the oval.

Once I got the piece home I added some shaded roses at each end along with leaves cut with scraps of card I had cleaned my brayer on ( I run my brayer over plain card to clean it between uses which makes a brilliant shaded piece perfect for die cutting)

I added mats and layers of a matching purple and cobalt blue with a few white layers thrown in for good measure!

Blue Snowflakes...

Happy Monday,

A bright and wintery card for your delectation today!  I live Blue white and silver and thought it was time, after a lot of black, that I went a little more traditional today.

to start I embossed the Yale Blue lustre print card using my snowflake circle embossing folder.  I then sanded back the raised areas to show the white core under the print, for this card i lightly sanded the card so that a soft snowflake look was achieved.

Next I added the die curt form the Amy Design range cut in white over this.  Next came a sanded and embossed panel of the blue embossed with the winter trees embossing folder ( see yesterdays card(

I then added the Crafts Too snowflake cut in card that I had covered in silver kitchen foil.  I then added ranger gloss accents in white on the snowflake to add to the snowy feel.

A layer of mirror card embossed with my star stream embossing folder and a few layers of blue and white finish this 8x8" card.

Enjoy...
