Infinity in Silver...

Happy Sunday,

Today I am taking over From Julia watts at the brand new Dominoes crafts at their new store opening in Wolverhampton.  It would be great if you could pop in and say hello Julia tells me the new star is beautiful!

I thought I would share a card today made using my favourite triplet die as I will be demoing this and many other today as well as the new Glitter Kiss.

I simply cut the striplet into 2 edges of a piece of bright white foundation card and backed this with silver pearl card.  I then cut a panel for the centre as shown in silver pearl and backed it in white.  I then cut the Mia frames and tags die in white and backed it with silver.  I then added a heart treat cup filled with Silver Stars glitter jewels and surrounded by the laced heart die cut in silver and white.
I added this on the top and finished with a large silky crush bow and pearl / crystal embellishment.

Enjoy...

Double Day...Red Sparkle, Red Christmas...

Happy Friday,

I thought I would offer a double day today with a card form the Indian Ocean collection and a christmas card just scroll down!

Im back at the Crafting for Christmas show today at the NEC on stand F53, pop by and say hi if you are around!

I stared todays card by cutting the indian ocean collection border down the side of a piece of bright white foundation card 4 times to make the pattern as shown.

Next I embossed the other side of the card using the fantails embossing folder highlighting the embossing with pearl lustre metallic gilding polish.

Next I cut the Mauritius die in white card and backed it with ruby foundation card covered with adhesive sheet.  I added iced snow to the background and the back of the die cut.  I then added cape daisies in ruby and white cutting extra of the centres which I shaded with scarlet woman colour cloud blending ink.  I added these over the bold scroll die cuts again shaded with more of the colour cloud.

A sentiment from my fern frames set, stamped in white embossing powder on a tag cut with the centre die and finished.

Next A christmas card made using waste pieces of rich red foundation card.  The background is made using a piece of bright white card which I had cut the Rose leaf and holly spray dies from the christmas rose die set.

I added this over rich red card and mounted some leftover circles over the centre.  Next I added the filigree snowflake die cut over the top finishing with then Scripted Happy Christmas.

I added polar white twinkles around the edges to add some sparkle and a strip of off white ribbon, bow, teen and pearl embellishment to finish!

Start the deco...

Happy Thursday,

art deco

    noun

    1.
a style of decorative art developed originally in the 1920s with a revival in the 1960s, marked chiefly by geometric motifs, curvilinear forms, sharply defined outlines and often bold colours.

I thought I should start today by giving a dictionary definition of Art Deco, the reason is that I felt the indian ocean collection was the very deco and I wanted too make sure that my feeling is correct!  Im glad to say I was lol

I thought I would share this demo card from jy shows with the indian ocean collection on Hochanda starting at 8pm next tuesday.  I really felt that whilst dark this was the perfect deco style card the demo is planned for this card to nee made in the pearl card so tune in to see how this was made and in a different colour!

I started by cutting the indian ocean corner ( one of the 2 different corners in the set) into a piece of cocoa foundation card at each corner.  I backed this with chestnutscard and adde players of kraft card and more cocoa and chestnut ( a real autumnal range)

Next I cut three of the corners with the outside die and backed these with craft card.  I then made a frame of circles using the double pierced circles set A and B and placed the 4 corners around the frames.  I find it amazing that the square corners work on a circle it really is art deco.

I cut 4 of the other corners in the set and backed these in chestnut, i mounted the four together into a square and added black pearl in the centre.

I mounted the square in the centre of the frame over a shaker section I made with acetate and nebula ice ( part of the glitter jewels range)  This adds a shine to the card.

I know its a little dark but would work in any colour and makes a great mens card not a flower in sight!

    Christmas Friday...

    Happy Friday,

I thought, especially as we are getting closer to Christmas, that I should again try to restart the Christmas Friday as there aren't that many Fridays left!

Today's card is made using a variant of Sue Wilson's fire and Ice technique using Diamond snow rather than Iced snow to give a gentler, silk like look.

I started by cutting the Snowflake background by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions in coconut white foundation card.  I used both the background and the centre filigree section in this cut, I find it easier to cut the background die first then add the centre panel and cut this separately.  I then covered the front of the piece using a piece of CE double sided adhesive sheet.  I then turned the piece over and covered the exposed adhesive with golden jewel gilding flakes.  Next I turned the piece back to the front and removed the protective cover and covering the newly exposed adhesive with diamond snow.

I simply then cut the piece into three equal sections and mounted each one onto coconut white card.  I then added all three panels to another layer of white and marked the centre of a few of the snowflakes with 5mm stick on pearls.

Then flower is another one of my fire and ice flowers where I cut Sue's classic poinsettia die from card I had gilded with Egyptian gold gilding flakes.  I made up the flower and sprayed it with glue before shaking over more diamond snow.  I finished the flower with a bow of raw silk satin ribbon and a gold dazzler in the centre.

I made the remainder of the card up using a piece of coconut white foundation card using the contemporary poinsettia embossing folder.  I made a mat for this by running double sided adhesive tape all around a layer of card and gilded the edges with the same gilding flakes.

    Creative Wednesday,,,It's christmas lol

    Happy Wednesday,

It's a Christmas theme over at Creative Expressions blog this month as we show a selection of cards and projects made using some of the latest Christmas Die release from Sue Wilson.  How are you getting on with your christmas Cards?  I know a lot of crafters don't like to start too early so we thought a little inspiration was sue!

I used the Joy to the world mini background for todays DT offering as I think its a really great die for making your more complex cards as being brilliant for your batch cards.  As the die has no outside cutting edge then it make the most beautiful card if just cut into a card blank on its own with a contrasting colour behind.

For today's offering I cut the background in white then shaded through the die using can blue colour cloud blending ink.  I covered a piece of cobalt foundation card with double sided adhesive and added iced snow.  I then forum monueted the joy to the world over this.  Next I added a frame, again cut from cobalt, into which I had added a piece of acetate.  This allowed me to foam mount this over the die cut and add more iced snow so that I made a shaker card front as the iced snow catches on the die cut and the background giving random pools of snow.

Finally I added a few layers of coconut white and cobalt to the frame and background along with an embossed panel made using the snowflake lattice embossing folder with the snowflakes highlighted with more of the colour cloud.

I added  poinsettia stamped and embossed with the shaded poinsettia stamp to die for onto cobalt card.  I made up the flower as shown with some pearl swirls ( which I will have on Hochanda next week) and a dazzler centre.

Pop over the the Creative Expressions blog HERE to see what inspiration for your Christmas Cards the rest of the team have.  It would be great if you could leave a comment or two on there as well!?!

    Christmas Red...

    Happy Christmas Friday,

Well can you believe its Friday already?!?  I have been making sample snap demos for my Create and Craft show next Thursday and its been a bit of a Christmas red, green white and gold fest!  so today I thought I would show you a card form last weeks demo in the same colours to whet your appetites!

I stated by cutting the outline die in the snowflake deboss die in apiece of coconut white foundation card.  Next I embossed the piece with the snowflake lattice embossing folder and added a cosmic pearl PVA dot on each of the snowflakes.  I then cut and embossed the second and third die from the same set and added pewter gilding wax to highlight the stunning debased snowflake design.

Next I die cut the centre die from the set in coconut white and foam mounted all the layers together with from tape adding a final layer of the rich red at the back.

to make the deer family I added a sheet of A4 soluble sided adhesive to a sheet of coconut white card and then die cut the three deer in set.  I slipped off the protective sheet and covered them completely in white ice.  White ice is another of the glitter jewel range and is a solid white with a little interference added so that you see different colours as it catches the light.

I foam mounted these over the top around the aperture and added some pearl sprays to balance the design.  I used the star, from the same set as the pearl swirls, to the centre of the die cut and finished the card with a step and layers of the red and white.

    Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft Dies by Sue Wilson
    Snowflake deboss
    Deer family
CE A4 snowflake lattice embossing folder
coconut white and rich red foundation card
    double sided adhesive sheets
    white ice glitter jewels
    pearl star sprays in white

Whats black, white and red all over?...

    Happy Christmas Friday,

I thought it would be a good dies to bring back Christmas Friday, which I have run for the past couple of years.  Those of my blog family that have been with me for a while will know that masking Christmas cards and projects is one of my favourite crafts and this year with me learning to use MDF and beautiful decoupage papers I have even more projects to make and share with you all.

Today's card is an example of how you can make a large special card form the Mini Christmas background set.  This set is perfect for making your batch cards as it can be cut as a whole filigree card front and simply backed with different colours and papers.  However it can also be used in layers with some of the other 2015 Christmas dies, to make your special family and fiends cards.

I stared this one by die cutting die 1 and 2 from the set (when counting from the outside in) in black foundation card.  The die has no outside cutting edge meaning you can make the outer border as wide or narrow as you want.  On this card I cut around the card whilst it was still in the die to give this narrow border.

Next I rubbed pewter gilding wax over the piece (make sure you emboss the die as there is some beautiful embossing on the frame) this shows the sweet village scene.  I then cut a piece of coconut white foundation card, covered in double sided adhesive sheet from CE using just the inside line die (die 2) I removed the backing form the adhesive and added the black die cut over this cutting the white backing to the same size.  I then added diamond snow (a fine version of glitter jewels clear just like my favourite Iced Snow ) which in real life gives a twinkling snow like look to the background.

I the  cut die 3 and 4 in black, die 4 in the adhesive white finishing by cutting die 5 in black and adding this to a whole piece of the white (cut so that it just covers the circle.  I embellished them in the same way as I have listed above then foam mounted them above each other to give a topper that goes in with the moon at the lowest point.

To make the backing card I die cut 2 of the snowflake borders in black and mounted them as shown across the front of a long piece of coconut white foundation card.  I then tied a length of the red two tone ribbon from may arts (back in stock at Julia's shops click HERE for details) I tied a double bow and added this to the front at the left of the main scene.

To finish I added a couple of tags, using the medium pierced tags die by Sue, one in white and one in black.  I stamped the sentiment, form Sue Wilson's new Christmas sentiments clear stamp set, using archival jet black ink.  I then added the whole piece, with the 'scene' foam mounted on top, to a card black made at 30 x 20cm form layers of black and white foundation card with foam tape of course!

I simply lover the shimmer of the diamond snow along with the simple black, white, red and silver of this card!

    Simple Sunday...

    Happy Sunday,

I had a Fab time yesterday with everyone at Pickwell farm and am looking forward to a return visit in August!  I will hopefully post some pics join Monday or Tuesday!

I am demoing at the Newbury papercraft show on the 4th July for the art of Craft.  For more details click HERE!

Today's card is a simple card made with one of Sues early release Striplet dies.

I simply cut the tethered hearts die centre in primrose card mounting onto a sheet of coconut white card covered in double sided adhesive.  Next I added diamond snow to add a little bit of shimmer.  I then cut the outline die from the tethered hearts striplet and foam mounted this over the top.

Finally I added a stamped sentiment from my Lotus elements clear stamp set and added a few stick on pearls and layers of the white and primrose.

This makes a great standby card for any occasion as the intricacy belies the simplicity of the card.

Primrose and Coconut white foundation card

    Feeling Noble and Majestic...

    Happy Thursday,

Well I'm sure you all know by now my love of the noble dies I was so happy that Sue designed a new shape for the noble range this ornate shape which comes in three different styles which are perfect for layering!

I stared with the ornate pierced die and using the largest die in the set I made a card black.  By using the die i got the advantage of the beautiful shape, embossing and piercing all the way around my my card blank.  I then added the filigree section and die cut this int the front of the card only.

To make the glittered lilac layer I die cut a piece of lilac foundation card wit the largest and the centre shaped die form the set.  I also added a sheet of double sided adhesive to the piece before cutting.  I layered the largest piece behind the filigree and added a sprinkling of Diamond Sprinkles to the adhesive hat shows through the filigree section.

I then die cut the centre filigree section from the Lavish accented noble die set using the matching outline die.  I added this to the smaller piece of the lilac with the adhesive and again added diamond sprinkles to the visible adhesive.  I hen cut the smallest die in this set and foam mounted all the pieces together.

To make the topper I cut 2 of the new maidenhair fern dies in the lilac and added dusty concord distress ink to colour the edges.  I then cut one of the new majestic butterflies in lilac and 2 in coconut white then cut into one of the white butterflies as these are designed to be cut down to make a smaller butterfly.  I then altered them up with the smallest on the top.  Finally i layered these onto the fern die cut and placed the whole topper on the card.  To decorate I added pearl PVA riots around the frame and on the points of the butterflies.

This is a die cut heavy card however the colours really compliment making it look less complicated than it is.  I know that not everyone will use as many layers as I have here however there are ideas that I hope that you can  take some ideas form this one!

    SA Crafty 3sum!

    Happy Saturday,

No you haven't stumbled onto the wrong web page with the header I'm demoing all weekend at Daisies Jewels and Crafts in Coventry with Hels Sherriden and Pauline Wheeler, therefore the owner Wendy has called the event a crafty 3sum!

I thought you might like to see a couple of the projects I will be demoing over the weekend as well as my usual die fest and playing with Cosmic Shimmer.  If you are in the area pop in and say hi!

This first card is made using both the classic and striped weaving dies from Sue's latest release and the Charming Hearts corner, a beautiful die with stunning detail that can make a card all on its own!  The design is symmetrical as well as asymmetrical as you can clip the flourishes away to make it into a different pattern.  I have done this with the larger ornamental corner for a demo on Create and craft next week, tune in if you want to see how!?!  The centre heart is stamped using my new Flower Hearts elements set and em,based in detail silver embossing powder.

The second card, believe it or not, is made using the waste from making the first!  I needed 4 of the corners and so I cut them laid out in a pattern to make the frame around the stamped sentiment.  I added a waste piece of Creative Expressions double sided adhesive sheet behind, stuck ti a piece of vintage silver foundation card and added in 4 of the corners cut from Coconut white card.  I then covered the aperture in diamond sprinkles which adds a lovely shine to the piece in real life!  Finally a few mats of the silver, lilac and coconut white and a card bank made by folding a piece of A4 card in half and a simple (almost free as its made with scrap) card is finished.

Here's a shot of the two... taken in my cart room so if you look closely you can see one of the Creative expressions Big Boy storage units behind along with my collection of chalk paint!

It would be great to see as many of my wonderful blog family who can make it over the weekend, click HERE for details on daisies!

    Another Box?...

    Happy Thursday,

I thought after the positive comments I received on Monday and Tuesdays post it would be nice to show you the box I made in the demo last saturday that uses the fire and Ice technique.  I have to admit I love how the fire and Ice (Sue Wilson's technique) shines and sometimes hate to cover it and use it as just a background therefore I showed on this project how to make this into a simple box that packs a punch (IMHO that is!)

I ran through the technique for this on Monday and I know Sue has a video on this on her you tube channel, click on Sue blog link on the right panel of this page to have a look!

    Ingredients:
    Coconut White foundation card
    Harvest Moon Gilding Flakes
    Iced Snow
    CE Double sided adhesive sheets

    Saturday Stamping...Not!

    Happy Saturday!

Well today is not Saturday stamping because I have a big Announcement next week and that involves 7 days of stamping so I thought you all might forgive me not stamping this Saturday!

Today's card is especially designed for Valentine day although all of you will have made your valentines cards by now it would make a lovely wedding, engagement or anniversary card.

This is a simple recessed card which uses one, yes one, die only the Love from the expressions die range for Sue Wilson from Creative Expressions.  I started by die cutting the love form blush card using the word die and the outer heart (this set has 2 dies which allows you to cut the love as an insert or with the outer die as a piece or tag)  I mounted this onto coconut white card using double sided adhesive to which I added diamond snow, from the glitter jewels collection, ion the spaces.

Next I cut just the heart outer from coconut white card as well as from the sand colour so that I could foam mount the white over the blush heart leaving a shadow of the sand.

To make the card I cut the sand and white at larger sizes on each layer and added the front onto a long card blank , with a Sue Wilson pierced edge, made with layers of the sand and blush card.

Finally I added a white seam binding messy bow, a pearl embellishment and a pearl swirl.

Simple looking but I feel it has real drama to it!

    Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft Dies for Sue Wilson
    Love expression
    Diamond Snow
    Double Sided adhesive sheet
Sand, Blush & Cocoinut white foundation card
    Pearl embelishments.

    Enjoy...
