Thank you lily...

Happy Thursday,

Todays card is another one that looks complex but is relatively simple.  Just three colours a stamp and some gilding polish all the work is done by the dies and just 2 sets used on this card!

I started by making the panel at the pack by cutting the title gemini die just using one section and the cutting edge in bright white foundation card.  I rooted the die and cut the same pattern at the bottom.  Next I cut a larger black mat for the piece using just the matching outline die.  I mounted the white on the black and added 3mm what stick on pearls around the detail.

Next I made the main panel using just die number 1, 2 and 3 from the antwerp die set from the belgian collection.  I cut a solid back in white and stuck the blue filigreed panel on top.  Next I added back in die 3 from the set to cut the perfect centre to the panel.  I repeated this with another frame and rotated them together adding them together with faom tape.

I added strip of bluebird double sided satin ribbon across the white panel and aded the frames on top.

I stamped the thank you sentiment from my lily of the valley everyday sentiments set onto white card.  I cut it oust using one of the circle dies form the frames and tags collection although you could easily cut this by hand.  I mounted it offset on black circle and added it in the centre o the card with a messy bow made with white and bluebird ribbon.

I added the whole piece to an embossed panel, with the jacobean floral folder, in blue with pearl lustre metallic gilding polish over the top which picks out the embossed areas and alters the colour.

A few pearls in all 3 sizes ( 3mm, 5mm and 8mm) in white and some layers of blue, white and black to balance the stamping and finished.

what another reindeer...

Happy Sunday,

Another sample from my shows this week with the Papercuts dies tomorrow will be the Gold and Black card that I have received so many emails about promise!

These dies are so easy to use and make creations from that all the work in this one is in the background!  I simply cut the reindeer die three time one each in black, bright white and rich red and set them against each other as a shadow!  I added them to a piece of card covered in double sided adhesive and added the runs silver mica flakes over the exposed adhesive.

I made the background by embossing a piece of card to which I  had spray glued kitchen foil with the comtempory poinsettia A4 embossing folder.  I then added the new graphite gilding polish to highlight the embossing ( so much easier than using an ink pad!)

A few layers of black white and red along with a border of the mica flakes and the simple card was finished.  It being me I added a large bow made with double sided contrast ribbon ( available from www.juliawattscrafts.co.uk with a black crystal embellishment and a twist of 4mm gold metallic linx.

Pixie Polish...

Happy Sunday,

A real mix of products and techniques for this weeks Creative Expressions blog inspiration this week.  I used the pixie Powders as well as the metallic gilding polish to make this background which even I admit is bright for me!

I made up a pixie powder background on watercolour card using Sun Yellow and Scarlet Mist.  Julia Watts has shot a you tube video on Pixie Powder techniques which should be on the Creative Expressions you tube channel soon.

I then embossed the piece using the eternal Ivy A4 embossing folder and gently rubbed over the embossed surface using Pearl Lustre metallic gilding polish.

I made up the flowers and the Maggie frames and tags die using bright white and the pixie powder background paper and added frames and yellow seam binding.

A quick post more detail on this technique tomorrow...

Ocean Teal Polish...

Happy Saturday,

Today I  demoing at Samuel Taylors on roseville street in Leeds, it would be great to see you if you can make it there!  I will be demoing between 10am and 4pm and hopefully will be showing the new Metallic Gilding Polishes as well as the new Pixie powders ( stock dependent)  I will also be demoing my paper pack and my Spring stamp collection ( again this is all stock dependent as everything is selling out!?!

For today's card therefore I thought I would show a card made using the new Metallic Gilding Polishes. and the stamp range.

The main element of this card is layering of the stamped images form the daisy daisy background, the lily lattice circle and the sentiment from the lily of the valley everyday sentiment set.  These were all stamped onto bright white card using an aqua shade of archival ink. I layers these with silver foundation card and added a bow and rose in teal from the Always and Forever collection from Craft Consortium.

For the background i embossed  piece of bright white card using the A5 Victorian tile embossing folder.  I then gently coloured this using the ocean teal metallic gilding polish.  A few layers of white and silver band a finished card is made.
Enjoy...
