Alternate Wedding...

Happy Monday,

I thought I would share one of the alternate wedding cards I made for the Wedding I went to at the weekend!  This i thought was too busy and not in the correct colour so I went with yesterdays but every card and project deserves it';s day in the sun ( or on the blog in my world lol)

I used pieces left form recent workshops for the background and frames using pixie powdered watercolour paper with Pewter, Midnight blue and Rich gold powders to make this which was used for the flowers, frame and background as well as the sentiment.

The central panel is using the new white glitter kiss through a mask ( a random one from my box sorry) onto acetate and used this in the frame.  I then added die cuts in silver and white using the spellbinders elegant ovals with a Creative Expressions sentiment die in the centre.  The flowers are the orange blossom topping seam binding made coloured with the pixie powders.

A complex looking card however hopefully harmonious and great for many occasions if not for a wedding!

More Colour...

Happy Friday,

A simple lattice card today where the colours ( hopefully) make all the drama.

I stared by cutting the Creative Expressions lattice die (from the christmas collection) twice down the side of a piece of rich burgundy card.  I then backed this with a rich ivory card.

I then added a piece of cream lace ( from my stash Ive had it for ages) before adding the spellbinders main element.

Finally I added some remade flowers and ribbon as a highlight.

Late Again...

Happy Monday,

We had such a great time in Bournmouth and Poole with the ladies at Craft Lockers this weekend we decided to stay and extra day and enjoy the sunshine!  So please acept my appologies for the blog being late!

Im sharing today another card made with the Feathers from Spellbinders (sorry Mrs Duck) nad this is a card that I saw in my head before comitting it to card.  I woke up one morning last wek wondering how the feathers would look made into a wreath and here is the result!

I stared by cutting the largest trellis circle die ( from the tonic trellis set) into a peice of blue grey pearl card ( from my recent Limetree crafts haul) I then added some crystal corners from Creative Expressions and added a layer of white nehind with foam tape.

Next I cut a circle with the die in the dset and aded alternating feathers in the blue grey and white arroud the circle.  I finished with a stamped sentiment on a smaller circle of the white surounded by stick on crystals.

Different but hopefully interesting at least!

Pink Butterflies...

Happy Sunday,

A simple card today made using just one die the Butterfly die by Donna Salazar for Spellbinders.  I also used papers form just one paper pad the Gypsy Gypsy 12"x12" pad form Craft Consortium.
Although it looks complex this was a simple card to make honest.  All I did was cut the die, which costs the butterflies and the outline rime shown on the card in white in one pass.

I cut the die in a piece of pink dot pearl, a patterned scrapbook style page and a piece of white pearl card all form the pad.

I simply added the 'rim' to the backing in the slot in the pink patterned paper ( I say paper but the is at least 180gsm paper so perfect for die cutting and construction)

Classic Blue...

Happy Friday,

Today's card uses the same die as yesterday and thanx to my wonderful Blog family I know the name this die ( used as the centre strip) its called Arched Diamond from the Art Deco collection from Spellbinders

Today I used this, cut in silver, across the front of a panel of embossed lines in blue.  To make the background I simply used my score board and scored at every 1/4 inch across the piece of french navy card.  I then added, with foam tape of course, the silver diamond across the front and added a couple of layers of the silver and blue.

Next I made the centre panel using the Twisted metal tags and accents ( this is the die I said was called iron works earlier this week I forgot this is what I call this die in my head!)  I cut this in sliver and blue and cut the centre panels form the section that falls away from the twisted tag making a frame.  I rotated each die cut in alternate colours and added foam tape between each layer.

I then used the feathers die cut in white and silver and arranged these beneath the cameo embellishment shaping the feathers along the spines that emboss on the die cuts.

I finished with a sentiment tag and a row of stick on crystals and a classic blue, white and silver card is finished.  Perfect for a men's card I thought?!?

Laced...

Happy Thursday,

When I was in Washington at the weekend I saw the most beautiful card made by one of the tutors there Norma.  I was lucky enough to be given the card as I wanted to emulate the lacing she had done at the top of the card.  As you can see form today's card I went down the full lacing route!

I stared by cutting the edger die by spellbinders ( Sorry I can't find the package so dont know the name) twivce and cut one down the centre.  I then arranged them as shown with a full die cut in the centre and one half on each edge adhered with foam tape.  I then threaded thin gold satin ribbon between the centre and the two sides ( as shown)

I then cut the largest die in the elegant ovals die using the Creative Expressions pierced ovals to cut an aperture.  I then cut just the oval in gold and mounted this behind.  I added this with foam tape in the centre of the card and used spring foliage and camellia flowers for the main element.

I finished with the flowers and foliage (shaded with vintage photo distress ink)  over a messy bow of white and more of the gold satin ribbon.

Silver Feathers...

Happy Wednesday,

I have updated the Demo days and Workshops page on the blog ( only available on the webpage so click view web version if you are looking on your phone)  Or if you are reading this on the daily email you simply need to click the title on the email to go to the blog and look!

Back to today and a card made with the Feathers and elegant oval dies from spellbinders ( I  really am enjoying playing with some of my older dies and some like the feathers that I bought and never used)  I stared by cutting the ovals in white pearl and silver mirror card alternating each die and foam mounted them as shown.

Next I cut the feathers dies in silver mirror acrd, embossed them and shaped them along the lines in the centre to give some movement.  I then added these in a spray on the bottom left, these locked a little lonely so I added the large bow, metallic linx and pearl embellishment to add some drama.

To make up the card I added a panel of embossed pearl card made using the Ripples embossing folder from spellbinders ( a new one from the end of last year I think)  I added layers of the silver mirror and white pearl along with, of course, some stick on pearls to highlight the details.

Gold Ironworks...

Happy Tuesday,

When I was in Washington at the weekend a lady ( sorry I'm no good with names) Showed me a card she had made with the Spellbinders Ironwork elements die set and we got into a discussion of how nice this die was!  I mentioned how great it looks in mirror card so as soon as I got home i had to make this card to show how well it works.

I stared by cutting the frame in the set twice in gold mirror card.  I rotated these and slipped the edges under each other as shown to make a square.  Next I added a panel in the white pearl card using one of the other dies in the set and topped this with a layer of gold and finally white ( all die cuts from the ironworks die set)  I added some stick on pearls to to highlight the detail.

I added a bow in silk ribbon and thin satin ribbon and tucked this under the bottom edge of the main element.

The background is made with the spellbinders butterfly die cut and mounted in white pearl card.

A few more layers of the mirror and pearl cards to finish a small card (for me anyway!)

A little more me...

Happy Monday,

I really enjoyed making yesterdays card however after reading the comments I have to agree the front didn't match the inside! but as a few of you said its great to push our limits as crafters!

I thought I would share something a little more me today using some spellbinders dies form Last year that again I never got round to playing with!  This is made using the shells duality which is a similar idea to the Creative Expressions gemini dies and the Savoy decorative elements and labels.

I started by cutting the detail die form the duality range into the 2 edges of a piece of gold vintage card.  Next I cut a panel in the Limetree gold dust iridescent card and 'slotted' this between the 2 cuts using the shells to hold this strip in place.  I then added a strip of pearls along the edge.

Next I cut the elements in the savoy set alternating between the decorative elements and the labels in contrasting gold and gold dust ( this card has a gold shimmer in real life which doesn't show well in pictures)  I added pearls using squares cut form the three row pearl strip i used on the sides ( this is a new find with 3mm pearls in a triple strip meaning you can add a trio or cut into individual strips giving great value)

I finished with layers of the white and gold and whilst I was going to put some flowers on I love the stark decorative look of this card it juts needs a sentiment in the centre which Ive left till the right occasion presents itself!

More white gold...

Happy Thusrday,

Another card made using the same card and dies as yesterdays offerings.  I loved all the comments yesterday the general consensus seemed to be it would be a perfect Wedding card Im sorry to disappoint but it was actually a Birthday Card for Mrs Duck!

Todays card uses the same dies however I have snipped into the background square to make it into a rectangle across the card.

I cut the background in vintage gold and cut along the pattern in the centre then added the two pieces together to make the rectangle.  I then cut preceding ovals using plain ovals from my die stash and spellbinders Elegant Ovals in white and the gold

I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with the smallest die in the ovals set and added this above a messy bow of silky crush ribbon.

To make up the card I added a panel of embossed card and layers of the white and gold. there are even, as usual, a fews stick on pearls added at the corners.

White and Gold...

Happy Wednesday,

Its another new ( or unused) Spellbinders die today and Ive been playing with the Intertwined spirals die designed by Becca Feeken.

I stared by cutting the largest die in the set with the intertwining swirls into a pice of gold stardust card I bought from Lifetree crafts at the Bolton show last friday.  I used just the detail die and backed this with plain vellum.  I then added the large circle in the same shade adding 3mm pearls around the edge ( I used some new triple pearl strips I bought recently for this as I get 3 single strips of 1m length form each pack)

Next I added the centre die cut with the outside edge in the gold dust iridescent and backed this with the velum before adding more of the pearls around the circular centre.

Finally I stamped the sentiment in bright gold embossing powder and cut this out with a small circle die from my stash of basic shapes ( from all different companies) and again finished with pearl strips.

I made up the card as shown with more of the pearls and a strip and bow of white organza ribbon.  I added a spray of pearl strings and a cameo from my stash.  To lie the colour i used some vintage gold for a couple of the layers.

Victorian Lilac...

Happy Tuesday,

A real celebration of spellbinders today as I threw so many different die sets at this card but I like the simplicity of the intercity of this one, if that makes sense.

I stared by cutting the Victorian birder strip into a square of wisteria card I then added one of the borders in the centre cut with the wisteria and backed in white.

Next I  cut the romantic rectangles in white and added this over the top.  I then cut an oval from an old spellbinders set I have and added pearls around the aperture.

Finally I added the sentiment and cut it out with another of the ovals.

I made up the card as shown with pearl corners and more layers of the white and wisteria.

Floating Butterflies...

Happy Saturday,

Todays card is made using a waste piece form making a card earlier in the week.  The pice had three butterflies cut from it and I thought it was  same to waste it.

I embossed the piece with an old spellbinders brick pattern embossing folder and shaded it with spun sugar distress ink.

I backed this with velum and added fragments of gilding flakes behind this to add some shine behind the butterflies ( more evident in real life than the pictures)  I then added in 3 butterflies ( cut with the random dovecraft die I bought on Ebay) into the apertures with 3mm white stick on pearls for the body.

I added the flower that I had made up ready in my bit box ( spellbinders Carnation I think) along with a few 'tails' of satin ribbon.

To finish the card I shaded through a scrap of card cut with the butterfly die with spun sugar distress ink and added this, with a folded corner, to the front of a card blank.

A little mixed media (ish) for me but I do like the way its turned out!
