The Antidote...

Happy Tuesday,

Today I thought I would show an antidote to the Pink I showed yesterday lol!  Now I like pink as much as the next bloke which means not as much as other colours! lol

I love autumn shades, which I know is not everyone's taste, so today I have made a card in browns and beige's however I have lifted this with a little gold.  I'm hoping that the butterflies make up for the colour choice.

On reflection this week seems to be developing into ribbon week, today I have simply added a strip of ribbon to lift the brown and no bow!

The main focus of this card is the tonic butterfly die borrowed from Wendy next door.

I started by embossing a new crafters companion alphabet folder in the brown cardstock and rubbing gold pigment ink over the top.

The next layer is a gold mounted rectangle embossed in the same folder but not highlighted with the ink.  I inked the butterfly die cut with gingerbread chalk ink but it just doesn't show on the picture!

Hopefully the red background brightens this card.

Enjoy...

Happy Saturday,

Sorry guys no new en-john-eering today as have ben mopping and drying out the apartment from the rain on Thursday night!  When it decides to rain over here it rains!  I can't complain as we haven't seen any decent rain since May!

I feel quite bad as I haven't really used much of the new craft stash I bought in the U.K. nor shared it with you.  I don't know about you guys but whenever I buy new stash I seem to spend more time looking at it than actually using it!

Also Mr Next Door flew over this week so crafty time has been limited.

I have decided to show a selection of my tags, these I make as I go along with the offcuts from my cards.  I hate waste and so if I cut a bit of card off (usually to make it square) I use what's leftover to make a tag.

This is also a way to use leftover die cuts and to use up test pieces
This blue and white tag was a test piece for a text background stamp and some blue embossing powder I found when laying out my craft room.

The remainder are simply made using scraps, what  do you do with yours?

Enjoy...

On The Same Wavelength

Good Morning All,

On Monday afternoon I sat down in my craft room and the image of a blue and White card floated into my vision.  I had found a stamp on Sunday that I hadn't used before.  I thought that this would look really kewl embossed in white on blue card with, perhaps, a little glitter.  Little did I know that Ang (Mrs Duck) was having the same thoughts at the same time.  When checking my ever growing list of blogs I check daily I came across this post

Please view Mrs Ducks Post Here it will make sense of my post!

This is the card I came up with (on Monday Honest)

I have stamped the image, from Creative Expressions, in versamark and embossed it in detail White embossing powder.  Next I 'coloured' the butterfly in the image with a quickie Glue Pen and added glitter in white.

If you have viewed Mrs Ducks post you will see that she has embossed a similar image in blue on white, she even added glitter!  Great minds think alike I guess!!!

I cut the edge of my card using Spellbinders Bracket Borders one and folded over another flap which I matted with white card.  When the card is closed the white shows through the filigree on the border.  Despire trying I couldn't get a good shot of this.

I have a added a close up of the stamped image instead, Enjoy...

Something Different Saturday

Todays something different is a quick one as it's 11pm Friday night and I've made this after work (finished at 10pm!)

This is inspired by Val, one of my lovely followers whom I met today and is just as lovely in person.  Val came across my blog from Hope and Chances and the ever talented Christine Emberson.  Bizarrely she happens to live in the village to where In work in Spain and came in to say hello today.  Val said her favourite thing I had made recently was last Sundays challenge and the box I made, view it here

This different creation is a couple of candles I decorated in the same way however, as Val said yesterday, I had to use some of the bargain pearls I bought.

These are electric candles bought from Primark so can be lit, as in this, badly taken, photo

I have added a picture of the detail on these which is simply a bow, hand made rose and butterfly, Enjoy...

A little Beige...

I have to admit to a liking for the neutrals palate and it seemed fitting as the OH has returned to work in the U.K. so I guess I'm felling a little beige lol.  This card is one I made a while ago when I received the Do'crafts goody bag.

Not much to say on this one however it reminded me of the project I've loaded for tomorrows Do Something Different, Enjoy...

Flower Power

Flower Power (ish)  Wendy (Next Door) compares our styles as her being flowery and me not however the more I check back on my past creations (something this blogging business has made so much  easier)  A lot of my stuff does feature a flower or two somewhere.

To acknowledge thi8s I have posted this card today, I have posted this card.  I have to be honest I really don´t like it.

The flower is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die cut twice and distress ink´d in scattered straw.  Bird Song paper (again!) a butterfly (Again!) and simple thanks a bunch, think I´ll give this one to Wendy!  Enjoy...

Prototype, Finished?!?

Hello,  A few days (weeks) ago I posted a prototype of a set of cards and box you can view it here.  I finally got around to having another go at this at the weekend.  This time the box actually is the right size and the cards fit, winner.

The box was made using my score board (crafters companion I think) in one piece and stuck together with the top sections used as a flap which the ribbon keeps closed.  Here is the box on its own (think I might be getting a box addiction)

The front is layered with the Spellbinders A2 Filigree delight die then Die cut ivy, Leaves and some handmade roses just hiding under the butterflies.

The cards are quite simple, using the centre section form the Die and stamped with a simple ´From Someone Who Cares´ a double layer of butterflies from Spellbinders Papillion 2 die and green ribbon from Christine at Hope and Chances.

My top tip for this woven ribbon is to cut it to the length of your card or project and then use a lighter to seal the edges, this ribbon really is too thick to fold over to the inside.

I Hope Hazel likes them, She has suggested I show the gift I made her for last years 60th Birthday, so keep your eyes peeled!  Enjoy...

A Deeper Shade of Blue

Todays card is again made with the Heartfelt creations die, a very CAS card I think but time seems to have run away from me and blogger is really playing me up, More later if I can get this to work! lol ...Enjoy

Happy Easter !

The challenge project I uploaded earlier really wasn't me, the colours are too bright and I think the topper is just too fussy.  Therefore I wanted to load another project I have been working on for Easter,
Easter eggs are very expensive over here with a £1 egg in the U.K. going for over €5 in Spain.

I bought a simple €3 egg and decided to create the box for it myself, here goes.

The box is made from acetate the exact size of the Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight die in silver Mirri card.  This was mounted onto the box with the oval cut out.

This provided a perfect window which I decorated with the Spellbinders Papillion 2 butterfly die,  Don't they look gorgeous cut in silver.

The top of the box has corners made from the corner pieces from the same die, silver ribbon and more butterflies.  I hope my mum likes it although as she is on a shopping trip to the U.K. at the moment staying with my partner I may eat it before they get back.  I'll be back with my first ever Design Team project for Lady Anne's cards.  Enjoy...

A BIG Thank-you

Hello,  if you look at the sidebar you will see I have added my favourite blogs, these are the ones I check every morning on my Playbook in bed before starting the day.  The first Blog I check is Hope and Chances run by the wonderfully talented Christine Emberson.  Christine has had more influence on my crafting, and shopping, habits than any crafter other than Wendy next door.  I can't count the number of Spellbinders dies I have purchased after seeing her excellent tutorials especially on Friday Die Day where she shows what to do with a different Spellbinders product ever Friday!

Recently she posted a picture of the new ribbon stand she had purchased for her studio shop ( a place I hope to visit next time I am in the U.K.)  The stand was full of beautiful ribbon, some of which I just had to have.  I emailed Christine via her blog and one week later a packet full of my purchases arrived, along with some freebies!

This card is the first card I made featuring the green woven ribbon, a simple strip on the side and my first attempt on a ribbon rose since leaving college years ago.  The sentiment was easy I wanted to say thank you to Christine for going out of her way to supply me what I wanted based on a photo and email.

The card is large at 24 x 24 and is made with another double cut of the spellbinders expandable pattern die ( see yesterdays post)  it was then a case of adding some butterflies as I know Christine loves these, some foliage to balance the rose and the sentiment. Not as time consuming as it looks, Enjoy...
