Commissions

Happy Today!

Todays post is a commission for a Friend, this card was changed at the last minute for his wife a few weeks ago as he knew she liked it and asked me to add the word wife (click on the link to see the card I'm talking about!).  She loved it so much she asked it I could make a version for her Mother In Law (I just had to make sure it was not as big as hers! lol)  For this one I made a box as well as this has to be posted back to the U.K.

The next day she asked if I could also make a card for her daughter to send so that no card was better than the other, don't you love family's! 

Therefore I made this card in her daughters favourite colours of Lilac and Blue / Turquoise.

This card was made using a backing paper from My Minds Eye.  The flowers are from the U.K. (the works for £1)  The flower image is stamped and is from an old Anna Griffin stamp set.  For this one I actually watercolour'd the flowers by hand, something I rarely do.

This one also had to have a box to post.

BOGOF Winner!

Happy Thursday all!

A couple of weeks ago I posted this special offer, it was a BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) and the winner was the card at the rear.  I promised I would post a larger picture of this one and try adding a sentiment.  Firstly here is the card as it was originally...

This is made using Spellbinders Fleur de Lis die and I cut one of each size die in White and Teal PMD cardstock.  I foam mounted each one rotating each time.  This topper was stuck above a hand cut aperture in a white top fold card with a frame of Teal added. 

The background is on the inside of the card and is a sheet of My Minds Eye paper.  This is finished off with a scattering of pearls.



Next the card with added sentiment.  I really struggled where to place a sentiment on this card until I remembered one I made ages ago (it's on here somewhere) where I bowed a piece of acetate over the front so as not to squash the front.

Taking advice from my wonderful followers and commenters I went for a simple Merry Christmas.

Now this is, please don't shoot me, a Peel Off!  However in my defence it is a peel off with a difference from Do'crafts and is a thicker than normal glitter peel off that came in a goody bag last Christmas!

Normal Service Resumes !?!

Good Monday Morning,

I managed to spend a little time in the craft room yesterday however apart from todays offering they were all cards for my design team blogs!  Therefore I have a simple filigree card for you today, I felt the sentiment, from Whimsy Stamps, was right...

"I may not have gone where I intended to go but I think I have ended up where I needed to be"

I think this sums up, to me  at least, the ups and downs of life.



This card was made using the filigree technique using Spellbinders Elegant labels four as the base card.  Next I cut a mat of My Minds Eye paper and foam mounted this onto the card base.  This was then finished with a cut from Spellbinders Radiant rectangles with the sentiment stamped on top using Archival Black.  This was foam mounted over a strip of woven ribbon and a butterfly from Spellbinders Las Papillion's 2 and, of course, a pearl!

Buy One Get One Free

 We all need a BOGOF every now and then so I thought this could be my special offer!

I decided to shoot these two cards together because I felt they were both  (mainly the background card) a little weak.

These are made using the same die, card and backing paper and are also, roughly, the same size.



Firstly the card I like is this one, its a very simple card made with backing paper from My Minds Eye ( I managed to buy a whopping Antique floral paper stack on my travels)  This is shaded with broken china distress ink and double mounted with white PMD Hammered card and foam tape.

The topper is made with Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares die cut as a frame and the centre part stamped with the sentiment.  This is from Creative Expressions, I think, and says "Plant seeds of kindness and your garden of friends will grow"

Finally I wrapped a strip of ribbon behind the frame with a bow above but under the sentiment.


The second card has the same backing paper however this is placed inside the card with a frame cut out of the front.  Then I layered, using foam tape, each size of the Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares die cut in Teal and white and rotated with each alternating colour.

I think its obvious which of the BOGOF's I prefer, you?

Petal Power?

Morning Peeps!

Following on from yesterdays inspiration from Heather's roses and petals creations todays crafty offering is made using some real lavender I've had hanging about for an age.  I made this card to, hopefully, make a focus of this bunch of lavender I picked and dried (its easy to dry flowers etc. here as anything you hang up dry's in a couple of days thanks to the heat!)

I started by embossing a cuttlebug embossing folder (creative expressions I think I am terrible with packaging) using the faux letterpress technique in a lavender ink to add a subtle hint of the colour.  I then matted this onto a stronger lavender card before finishing in a white layer.

Next I added a matching strip of ribbon and a messy bow.

TIP ALERT to stop the cut edges of my bows / ribbon from fraying I gently 'melt' the cut end using (very carefully) a lighter which seals the cut. 

I simply tucked the real lavender under the bow.  The whole piece was then foam mounted onto a piece of My Minds Eye paper which married the colours of the stalks and flowers which I had layered in the same lavender / white combo. 



It is difficult to see but the whole piece is stuck to a white base card made by folding an A4 sheet in two.

This picture should show the Faux letterpress technique better.

To complete the card I cut a piece of the paper using spellbinders Labels die (cant remember which answers on a postcard) and stamped the sentiment, which is my view of what craft blogging is for to Enjoy, and foam mounted a frame cut in the same colour as the layering using two of the dies.
