Feeling Peachy?!?

Happy Tuesday!



This week, so far, seems like a pastel week because today's' card is another pastel this time peach.  Now as one of my lovely commentators said last time I posted peach (Can't remember who I am crap at names) its nice to see a different colour I hope you like this one.

This card is made with the same Core'dinations paper as my last peachy effort.  This time I embossed and sanded the backing before framing it and mounting it onto a sheet of white cardstock.  The central element is all cut with a Spellbinders Gold elements die ( i forget which one!) die, as this is a gold elements die I added gold ink to the raised areas before cutting.  This makes the debossed areas stand out and adds a lovely shine to the card.




The central sentiment is an oval die cut, inked and stamped with the Whimsey stamp sentient a quote from one of my favourite authors look closely to find out who lol)

I have foam mounted this onto two of the centre dies from Spellbinders A2 filigree delight which adds some interest to the panel.  Finally I added a few pearls and a simple bow made with organza ribbon sent to me by Mrs Duck!

a little darker...

Happy Friday,

This card is in very dark shades however I thought after yesterday peach confection we could do with some shade. Now this card is again made using a die borrowed from Wendy Next Door.  The main element is a Sizzix strip die which cuts the ivy trail.





I started this card by embossing apiece of the burgundy PMD card with a random embossing folder of foliage (I had to run it through the machine twice as it is an A5 folder.  Next I rubbed patina gilding wax over the raised area before mounting onto cream cardstock and placing on the inside of the card blank.

The front piece is cut at half the size of the back (difficult to see in this picture.  I have echoed the double mat and added the die cut. on foam squares, over the top.

Finally the sentiment is from Whimsey stamps which I embossed with Copper powder then cut out using the matching die.  The backing piece is also a die cut form the same set.






To give the card a lift I rubbed a little of the wax over the front die cut which doesn't show well in the picture.

Distressed Flowers

Happy Wednesday,


A couple of weeks ago Wendy and I attended a flower making class.  Now Wendy came back and went on a flower making binge.  Thankfully I was the joyful recipient of some of these flowers and this card is what I made with some of the stunning cream roses she made.

I have mounted the flowers, which I coloured with distress ink, onto a lace die cut form Spellbinders (again another EBay bargain so don't know which set) and I made the effect of foliage using spikes of soft lime ribbon.





The background is made with a plain piece of white smooth PMD cardstock which I stamped and embossed with Detail White embossing powder.  Next I added distress ink using a soft yellow for the centre, broken china for the petals and soft green for the space in-between.  I mounted this onto a piece of black cardstock to give a strong border before mounting, with foam tape, onto a cream  square card blank.

The sentiment is a whimsy stamp which is backed by a die cut form the same, random, set.

LavenderFiligree Squares

Happy Thursday,

Isn't it funny how sometimes you have a go to die, I know I'm terrible for this and the gold elements corner seems to have been sitting on my desk or in my GC all week.  I got this die out to make the box for Saturday's post and it feels like I've cut it 100 times.  Todays card is the result of one of these plays!

I started by folding a piece of PMD cream linen card in half and cutting it into a square.  I placed the die in the corner and cut it.  Next I rotated the die into the other corner and again cut it.  This created a lovely frame for the main element.

The main element is a double cut in lavender card mounted onto a square of the same cream cardstock.  I mounted a cream die cut from Spellbinders Gold Labels four which I inked the die before I cut it .  Finally some random flourishes form the same gold elements set, a couple of die cut asters and a sentiment stamped in detail white embossing powder.  The sentiment is from Whimsy stamps and was cut with the matching die from them.

Finally some pearl dots from creative expressions stickles.  Simple but I love the colours!

House of Cards September

Afternoon Guys,

Can you believe its time for the Classic and Elegant September challenge over at House of Cards already? 

This months challenge is a colour palette and inspiration you must use at least three colours on your card to enter it.  Here is my Design Team inspiration for this weeks colour palette challenge.

I have chosen three colours, a lavender, a purple and a soft terracotta to which I added a darker terracotta to balance things out.  I would love it if some of you entered this week, below is the palette, remember this needs to be a Classic and Elegant style (still not sure if that title is right for my musings but that's what I'm told!)



For my card I ran four sheets of Core'dinations cardstock in the appropriate colours through the Darice tumbling leaves embossing folder and then sanded off the top layer.  Next I cut these into 2" squares and made a patchwork background.  The corners I studded with pearls and I simply ran two matching pieces of satin ribbon down the side.

The card is finished with a simple sentiment from Whimsy stamps encouraging us all to delight in the little things.

Normal Service Resumes !?!

Good Monday Morning,

I managed to spend a little time in the craft room yesterday however apart from todays offering they were all cards for my design team blogs!  Therefore I have a simple filigree card for you today, I felt the sentiment, from Whimsy Stamps, was right...

"I may not have gone where I intended to go but I think I have ended up where I needed to be"

I think this sums up, to me  at least, the ups and downs of life.



This card was made using the filigree technique using Spellbinders Elegant labels four as the base card.  Next I cut a mat of My Minds Eye paper and foam mounted this onto the card base.  This was then finished with a cut from Spellbinders Radiant rectangles with the sentiment stamped on top using Archival Black.  This was foam mounted over a strip of woven ribbon and a butterfly from Spellbinders Las Papillion's 2 and, of course, a pearl!

Claming Down


Morning All,

After all the red and white of the yesterday, and the weekend as well, I thought I should change gear and show something prettier in another colour!





































Todays creation was actually sent off last Tuesday for Hazel at works birthday.  Last year I made her a photo album as it was a special birthday however this year I wanted to make something light, bright, pretty and with a sentiment about how I felt rather than celebrating Mumble 1 years old.

This is an A4 sheet of hammered white PMD card which is layered in soft blue and white.  The main element is a frame cut with my current favourite Spellbinders labels die.

The decorative strip, cut in pale blue, was cut using Spellbinders Bracket Borders one with a piece of the matching spotty paper, cut with the border die form the set so that the curve matches, and foam mounted .   I then stuck a strip of ribbon over the raw edge and tied a simple, hand tied, bow and a hat pin.

I mounted the strip and framed sentiment on a piece of spotty paper from my stash then added it all to the card front.

The sentiment is form Whimsey stamps and is the definition of Friendship which is what both Hazel and Shirley (the ladies I work with) have become.

All White...

Morning Friends,

I'm feeling Loads better thanks for all your kind comments and suggestions, I skipped the cake making although would of considered Ang (Mrs Duck)'s suggestion for a recipe on Friday!

Reading through yesterdays comments lots of you raised the suggestion that the second card would have been better made in all white.  That got me thinking that white on white looks really good but I make cards in white very infrequently, therefore todays offering and a bonus!

This card is made using a new die I got form the local craft shop, Its a Nellie Sneddon flower die that cuts the delicate flower in six parts each getting larger.  To create the flower I threaded these onto small brads which allowed me to move the petals until I was happy with the finished result.

There is a sentiment on this but it is very hard to see!  I also tried to copy Sue Wilson's style of pierced edge cards using a piercing ruler I bought at the same time however this isn't very visible either!



Now here's the bonus, whilst I had the white cardstock out I thought I would have another go at yesterdays card using all your suggestions, so here goes, enjoy!

Normal Service Resumes

Good Morning All,

Posts have been a little, time at least, erratic over the last couple of days so I thought It was time I resumed normal(ish) service with todays offering!

Todays card is in my classic combination of Red, Black and White and is made using simple plain card although the eagle eyed may spot a bit of glitter, a new departure for me.

I started by cutting the Spellbinders Gold Elements die four times and rotating it on a piece of red card each time (I used a heavy weight card of 275gsm as it needs to be strong to take so much detail)  This did take a little work through my GC but using the magnetic shim technique I showed a few weeks ago helped.  Next I laid this over a piece if black card, in the same weight, and carefully drew around the same swirl on each side ( difficult to describe but hopefully the picture illustrates this).  I then joined up the swirls I had drawn and cut out an aperture using my craft knife (I use a scalpel left over from my college days as they are so sharp and accurate)

I stuck this to a piece of white glitter card then foam mounted the red die cut over this making sure the white area lined up!  Finally I cut the black piece to give a fine line around the red and added a couple more matts of red and black before mounting onto a white card blank.  Hopefully this picture shows the cut aperture and dimension better!

The sentiment is from Whimsy stamps and is stamped with versamark and detail white heat embossed.  I cut this with the matching die and mounted it onto the fancy die that also comes in the set.  I have to admit I have had this set for ages but it's rarely used, don't know why.

No Ribbon, No Bow but still, in my opinion, a detailed card.  Enjoy...
