A little more green...

Happy Wednesday,

After last weeks card with the subtle green from my Christmas Shades paper pack I thought I would try a deeper green for todays card.  It is a little more dramatic using the gloss black and peacock green pixie powders but sometimes there is a need for a little drama.

I stared by making the pixie powder paper using watrecolour card and Peacock green and  aqua lagoon.  I soaked the watercolour paper then added the pixie powders to allow the colours to explode out, I took a print form this sheet using a piece of bright white foundation card and set both aside to dry ( about 20 minutes)

I next took the swiss collection background and started cutting the panel individually.  I cut the first layers using dies 1 and 2 ( counting from the outside in) I then adhered this to a pice of the pixie powdered paper and using die 2 ( the plain line die) i cut the centre out.

I repeated this procedure using all the dies in the set using die 3 and 4, 5 and 6 and finished with die 7, the smallest, cut in the centre.

Next I layers each of the pieces together using mounting cushion so that It worked inwards to the centre.  I then added a few matts and layers in green from my stash and more black and bright white.

Next I cut the doodle flowers alternately in the pixie powder paper and black.  I shed around the edges off these using my ball tool and mounted each subsequent flower in the centre of the larger with a 5mm white stick on pearl in the centre.

I repeated the procedure for a further flower starting with a black large flower.  I added the matching leaves cut in the 2 colours and mounted these at either diagonal on the card.

A very dramatic colour scheme and card but great for mens cards I reckon!

A Fancy Fan...

Happy Tuesday,

I thought I had shared this card with you all however after a look through my blog for the last 3 months I cant find it.  Therefore I apologise if you have seen this already!

This was one of the first cards I made with the double pierced oval dies designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.  As I am sure you know I have a soft spot for Ovals ( still loving the Austrian Collection!)   I love the way that this set will match with previous Oval sets released by Sue but this in perfectly, as used here, with the Geneva die from the Swiss Collection.

I teamed frames form the double pierced cut in varying sizes in periwinkle and coconut white and the dies in the geneva set.  The large band of piercing comes from the Geneva set which has this large oval with the random pierced elements around it.

The main feature of this card is the fan on the base which is the easiest part!

To make the fan I simply cut the larger die from the ornamental accents die ( from the configurations collection) in coconut white. I the cut just the outline form periwinkle and added the two together.  I repeated this until I had 5 of the fan shapes and then 'hooked' them together to make the fan effect. This happens quite easily honest!

Tons of pearls and pearl strips, a set of messy bows in silky crush white and bluebird thin satin ribbon to embellish.  Next I made this into a large ( almost A4 in size I'm afraid) with an embossed layer and a few mats and layers.

A complex looking card that is worth the effort!

Thinking of you...

Happy Tuesday,

Another sample from my stamp launch this time a mix of the Larkspur and Nasturtium sets simply stamped in jet black archival ink.

I stared by stamping the flourishes form the Nasturtium set around a rectangle of bright white card.  I layers this with black and more white.  Next I cut a larger rectangle and stamped the nasturtium flourishes at each corner and added black lace and white seam binding down the centre before adding the smaller panel with mounting cushion.

I then stamped the sentiment from the larkspur everyday sentiment set , which matches with the Swiss die collection, and cut it out with the matching die form the Bern set the  added the other die cuts form the set behind.

A bow and Craft Consortium pearl embellishment and finished.

Especially for Sali...

Happy Friday,

Today's card is wasn't made especially for my Friend Sali however as I was making it I just thought wow this is so up Sali's street I hope I'm right!

I stared this one by using a background that I grabbed form my Demo bits box.  I made this one at the NEC using metal tape over the card and embossing it with the Rose Blooms embossing folder.  I then ran over the top with a permanent ink and, after drying,m I gently rubbed with a dry wet wipe to give this antique silver look to the background.  This was such a dramatic look I needed something strong to balance it.  I thought red and black and the brand new Exquisite Poppies die from Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions would be perfect for this.

Therefore the next thing I made up was a spray of the poppies, I cut these with Ruby foundation card and rubbed jet black archival ink, using a mini smoothie, over the edges of the petals to give some depth.  I added centres in black, again cut with fries in the set, and a pearl in the centre. All in all I made up 5 poppies of various sizes using three as the main element and another 2 to the top.  I cut the new Olive Branch foliage in black and arranged the poppies, along with a double sided red satin bow, on top.

I then cut the layers of the Geneva die in red and vintage silver and offset these with a silver frame.  I then cut a panel form the background using the centre outline die from the set and from mounted this above.  I then arranged the poppies and bow etc over this.

I then stamped the sentiment, from my pierced flags clear stamp set onto ruby card and cut it with the matching pierced flags die.  I added layers of the silver and black and positioned this behind the flower spry.

A very dramatic card that I ma sure will split opinion but it doesn't do to have them all looking the same lol!
