Something (small) Different Saturday

Happy Saturday,

Today's something different is small and hopefully will make a sweet gift.  Very Simply (how many times can I use that word in one paragraph!?!) this is a die cut and folded sewing kit, perfect when you want a small handmade gift.

The instruction are really easy cut a piece of card stock to 21 cm long by 8 cm wide.  Next die cut the end using your choice of border die.  I used the filigree section and cutting section from Spellbinders Bracket borders one.  Next score at 7cm then 14cm further on and then at 1cm.  This leaves the flap at the front and a "wedge" that means it fold nicely.

To make the closure I simply cut a strip out where the point of the bracket meets the front so that the lip can be tucked in to close.

Next I cut a piece of cardstock with the same cutting die and mounted it behind the filigree, cutting it to fit the folds.  Then I die cut a piece of felt using a postage square and attached it using a thin piece of foam tape, this allows the needles to have something to grab into.  Finally I added a strip of ribbon to hold the reels of cotton.

A small quick project but fun to make,

Enjoy...

Ivy Ivy Everywhere.....

Happy Friday!,

Sorry if I have been a little lackluster with the descriptions this week time is always seeming to run away from me (i Know excuses excuses!)  I will try to put a little more in for the next few days.

Today's creation is designed to answer a few questions I've had this week.  I have been using a lot of |Ivy dies recently, they were featured on a few days cards
On This Pink Card I showed yesterday, the box I made last Saturday and the simple white card I made a couple of weeks ago (click on the links to see the cards I mean)

Now these were all made using a small Marianne Ivy die, click HERE for a link to the die.  Al I have done is to cut the card then shape the ivy using a large ball tool and the back of a mouse pad.

On todays card I have used a larger Ivy die from Joanna Sheen's signature range, click HERE for the link.  I have left this die as cut and have not shaped it to show the difference.

This card started with the sentiment, which I stamped onto a spare die cut Spellbinders Labels twenty eight.  I matted this on a random sheet of grey / black tartan fabric paper and wanted to make a card to highlight the simplicity so it had to be white!

I cut two pieces of white hammered cardstock with Spellbinders bracket borders one and foam mounted them above on foam pads.

This then seemed the perfect card to show the difference between the dies.

I hope this helps and answers some questions.

Enjoy...

Queen for a day!

Happy Thursday!

Today's card is a commission.  I was asked to make a baby shower card for a friend, having never made a baby shower I was lost.  From reading online this is a party for the prospective mother and so I decided to go with a celebratory card designed for the mum (i.e. no baby stuff)

I went with the sentiment Queen for a Day as this felt right however I didn't know what style of card to make for this then I noticed a card I had made last week that I wasn't keen on and decided to retro fit it!  This is the finished card the next picture is the original I altered.

Was I right to change it?!?

Enjoy...

Back to Pink....

Hi Guys,

Quick one today I thought we would go back to pink as when I was making Jen's card on Sunday I cut lots of bits in pink and used the other pieces to make this!

Quick one so no description today, sorry!

The Antidote...

Happy Tuesday,

Today I thought I would show an antidote to the Pink I showed yesterday lol!  Now I like pink as much as the next bloke which means not as much as other colours! lol

I love autumn shades, which I know is not everyone's taste, so today I have made a card in browns and beige's however I have lifted this with a little gold.  I'm hoping that the butterflies make up for the colour choice.

On reflection this week seems to be developing into ribbon week, today I have simply added a strip of ribbon to lift the brown and no bow!

The main focus of this card is the tonic butterfly die borrowed from Wendy next door.

I started by embossing a new crafters companion alphabet folder in the brown cardstock and rubbing gold pigment ink over the top.

The next layer is a gold mounted rectangle embossed in the same folder but not highlighted with the ink.  I inked the butterfly die cut with gingerbread chalk ink but it just doesn't show on the picture!

Hopefully the red background brightens this card.

Your Card Jenifer...

Happy Monday!

Firstly an apology no post yesterday, due ton an emergency I had to go into work yesterday (second job) so instead of crafting and eating Sunday Lunch I was serving it instead!

Back to Today, today's card is made for Jenifer Swannells from Krafty Keepsakes, click HERE to visit her blog.  Jen was chosen at random by my boss this time so when I got in last night I made this card for her.

I like to make me Your Cards specifically for the person rather than just choose one I have already made.  Now Jen has been struggling with her Craft Mojo recently so I thought something Light, Pink and with a new idea might help to kick start her craftiness (is that even a word)

This is a simple one die card in white and pink, the new idea is the centre piece which is satin 1 cm ribbon in Pink, which I have woven over the open aperture.  The ends of each ribbon have been woven between each of the different layers I cut to make the aperture.

To make this one I started by cutting the largest label from Spellbinders labels 28 in the smallest piece of card.  I then worked my way down the label sizes whilst increasing the size of the pieces of card and alternating the Pink and White.  I added a silver layer, just to give some definition, between the pink and white.

The weaving is done after the layers have been stuck together, using foam tape, however I had to make sure that each layer was only stuck down at the corners to allow room for the ribbon.

A bow, and no pearls!, finishes this card.  As usual if you email me on Lockers@live.co.uk with your address Jenifer I will post this creation to you.

Enjoy...

Something Different Saturday

Happy Saturday and First of February!

Today's something different is one I have been planning since I saw the Spellbinders Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box die going cheap on E bay.  Now its usual that I look at all my dies and think what I can do differently with them however this is the first time I've seen one online and planned what I will do with it when I receive it!!

I loved the top of this however I didn't see much use for the box itself as it wouldn't really hold much.  What I thought of was this, a bigger box using the same folded lid.

Here are the first two prototypes usual cut in white cardstock.

In this picture you can see the twisted top which does open.  Sorry not the best photos to show this creation.  I am planning a tutorial on this one so more info when its ready.

For now enjoy....
