Something (small) Different Saturday

Happy Saturday,

Today's something different is small and hopefully will make a sweet gift.  Very Simply (how many times can I use that word in one paragraph!?!) this is a die cut and folded sewing kit, perfect when you want a small handmade gift.

The instruction are really easy cut a piece of card stock to 21 cm long by 8 cm wide.  Next die cut the end using your choice of border die.  I used the filigree section and cutting section from Spellbinders Bracket borders one.  Next score at 7cm then 14cm further on and then at 1cm.  This leaves the flap at the front and a "wedge" that means it fold nicely.

To make the closure I simply cut a strip out where the point of the bracket meets the front so that the lip can be tucked in to close.

Next I cut a piece of cardstock with the same cutting die and mounted it behind the filigree, cutting it to fit the folds.  Then I die cut a piece of felt using a postage square and attached it using a thin piece of foam tape, this allows the needles to have something to grab into.  Finally I added a strip of ribbon to hold the reels of cotton.

A small quick project but fun to make,
