Hobby Cutz has gone all Spooky

Happy Sunday,

Todays challenge over at Hobbycutz is a Halloween themed extravaganza!  This weeks design Team inspiration are all featuring some beautiful backing papers from our sponsor http://bmd-creations.blogspot.com.es/.  Here is my take on a Halloween goody bag using both the baking paper from Barely Mine and some fabulous Pumpkin laser cuts from Hobbycutz.

This weeks challenge is, of course, Halloween click here to see what the design team have come up with and to entre the challenge.

This creation is made in the same way as on this post and this tutorial click through to see how this was created!  To decorate the front I have used the beautiful pumpkin laser cuts which I have inked and embossed to the right colour.

Something Different Saturday

Happy Saturday!

Todays something different is very different than I have shown or blogged before.  My first love in crafting was stamping, before spellbinders, Sizzix and die cutting I was, at heart, a paper crafter and stamper.  I decided today to show something different in a stamped project I made this week as I rediscover my love of all things inky.

Now this may be very different from what you are used to me posting however I like doing different things and we all, as crafters, have many different styles and techniques we like to use.  There is not one single die cut anywhere!  These cards and tags are made purely with stamping, I had forgotten the joy of just playing with ink and stamps.

I hope you don't mind me being a little self indulgent today but I really enjoyed making these hope you will too.

More Traditional Christmas

Happy Christmas Friday,

After last weeks copper colour scheme and the split it caused in my lovely Blog Commenters I thought I should post something a little more traditional this week.  This card is made using my standard colour scheme of Red, White and Silver or Gold.

This week, therefore, I have posted 2 cards both using either Red, White and Gold or Silver.

This first card is an A4 sized sheet of red PMD cardstock folded in  half with layers of red and gold topped with a sheet of Do'crafts Home for Christmas range.

The sentiment is a new one I received yesterday ( it usually takes a week for internet purchases to reach me here in Spain however this one took nearly a month!) and is from Indigoblu.  I stamped this in Versamark and embossed the image in Mirror Gold embossing powder.  I noticed that the image fits perfectly into Spellbinders Labels 2 so I cut it out and fussy cut a gold frame.

The ribbon Is Beresford's pencil stripe which is highlighted with die cut holly leaves from Joanna Sheens Signature Die.

This second card is made using the same idea of a sheet of Red PMD card folded in half however this time it is lengthways.  The feature elements on this one are made using a die rather than stamp and is the new Spellbinders mix 'n match Ornaments die.

I started by cutting all of the elements including the separate centres ( this set allows you to cut solid ornaments or use one of the four centres that come with the set) so that the baubles are see through.  I backed these with  silver mirror card and highlighted the embossing on the die cuts with silver gilding wax.  These have been placed, using acetate, floating in three windows cut with a Sizzix scalloped square die.  Behind this I added a further sheet of Do'crafts Christmas paper and added more of the ribbon.

Both cards are made with virtually the same materials but give 2 totally different cards!

Classic Black

Happy Thursday!

After yesterdays flower fest and pastel (for me) colours I thought today should be a classic John card in Beige and black.  When I was shopping in the U.K. I bought a set of four cameo's form the Works for £1  I wanted to make a card that would show off this wonderful and above all cheap, embellishment.

Now my go to die is still Spellbinder Gold elements one, sorry, however I felt that this was a beautiful way to make a classic card.  I die cut the corner die twice in cream PMD cardstock and cut out a large square 2cm all round the die cut.  I foam mounted this (I love mounting different layers they can add such interest into a simple card) onto black card the foam mounted the whole thing on cream then black.

Next I mounted the whole thing onto a hand made square card (I Know, I know everything I am making at the moment is a square) with PMD Kraft cardstock, A4 folded in half.  The banner is stamped with a border stamp from the Do'crafts Vintage Notes set onto the same card which I mounted in black, pennant cut the ends and then 'waved' across the middle.

Finally I added the cameo in the middle Hopefully this card makes the cameo look more expensive than it is!

Distressed Flowers

Happy Wednesday,

A couple of weeks ago Wendy and I attended a flower making class.  Now Wendy came back and went on a flower making binge.  Thankfully I was the joyful recipient of some of these flowers and this card is what I made with some of the stunning cream roses she made.

I have mounted the flowers, which I coloured with distress ink, onto a lace die cut form Spellbinders (again another EBay bargain so don't know which set) and I made the effect of foliage using spikes of soft lime ribbon.

The background is made with a plain piece of white smooth PMD cardstock which I stamped and embossed with Detail White embossing powder.  Next I added distress ink using a soft yellow for the centre, broken china for the petals and soft green for the space in-between.  I mounted this onto a piece of black cardstock to give a strong border before mounting, with foam tape, onto a cream  square card blank.

The sentiment is a whimsy stamp which is backed by a die cut form the same, random, set.

Commissions

Happy Today!

Todays post is a commission for a Friend, this card was changed at the last minute for his wife a few weeks ago as he knew she liked it and asked me to add the word wife (click on the link to see the card I'm talking about!).  She loved it so much she asked it I could make a version for her Mother In Law (I just had to make sure it was not as big as hers! lol)  For this one I made a box as well as this has to be posted back to the U.K.

The next day she asked if I could also make a card for her daughter to send so that no card was better than the other, don't you love family's!

Therefore I made this card in her daughters favourite colours of Lilac and Blue / Turquoise.

This card was made using a backing paper from My Minds Eye.  The flowers are from the U.K. (the works for £1)  The flower image is stamped and is from an old Anna Griffin stamp set.  For this one I actually watercolour'd the flowers by hand, something I rarely do.

This one also had to have a box to post.

here's a few more pics just because.
