A dusting of snow...

Happy Thursday,

I made a version of this card with a solid backing a few weeks ago and I had this filigree version up my sleeve for something specific.  As I will be using this card today for something else then I can now, safely, post it.  I love making filigree cards and this die just begged to be used as one when I saw it.  The benefit is that as the Sue Wilson dies generally have no outside cutting edge then cutting a double is easier than usual!

I stared by folding a sheet of card over at the top by 3cm, I then cut the die just below the fold to make the hinge.  I then cut one more of the die cut background using a double sided adhesive sheet stuck to a piece of 220gsm coconut card stock.  I then stuck the back of this piece to the hinge and cut all round to make an even card.

The next step is really easy I peeled off the sheet of adhesives backing paper and covered the whole front in Cosmic Shimmer Iced snow.  I then added a few pearls form my dwindling supply of Chino Pearls and the base was complete.

To decorate the card front I stamped the sentiment from an old Creative Expressions set onto the same card and covered t in the offcuts from the adhesive sheet (you can get away easily with using just one A4 sheet if you are careful!)  I then cut the tag form the Austrian Collection set and a few of the Delicate Daisy outlines.  It was then simply a case of peeling off the backing paper and covering these in iced snow.

I added these with foam tape and squares, added a few pearls in the centres of the flowers and shaped the daisies (very easy when they are covered as they become thick and malleable!)

An effective card that looks complex but is easy to do.  If you are concerned about it standing the add a couple of pieces of acetate, as I did, to the inside to strengthen it.

Did you spot it?!?

Happy Wednesday,

As its Wednesday then Its my turn to show a creation for the Creative Expressions Design team and I have chosen one of the cards that I made for them that was featured on Sue Wilson's shows at the weekend.  For those of you who watched you wont have seen this card held up as, along with another of mine, it was used at the front of the main bundle of dies to show what can be achieved.  I know it's sad But i watched avidly and smiled every time the camera panned around it! lol

To leave a comment on the Creative Expression blog click HERE or to see what the rest of the Design Team have come up with.  My post goes live later in the day so If you have the time it would be great if you pop over there and have a look!!!

So back to the creation of this 3D card, I started by die cutting 2 each of the different sized baubles form the Sue Wilson Vintage Bauble die set in Vintage Gold card.  I then cut one of each in red foundation card with the insert and one of each without the insert to get a solid shape for the base.  I simply folded each of the detailed baubles in half and glued each of the three for each shape in the centre to the base.  Once dry these are just folded out to give a 3D feel.

To decorate the baubles I stamped the matching pinstripe stamp in gold embossing powder onto the red card stock and cut a selection of the sizes out using the matching Sue Wilson classic poinsettia die.  These were then made into the full flowers by pinching the leaves on each stem and gluing different sizes together in the centre. Finally, for this stage at least, I added different sizes of flowers around the edges of the baubles.
To make the card base I stamped the same poinsettia stamp in perfect medium onto a piece of red card and then dusted the images with gold mica powder.  This gives a beautiful shimmer and a flatter image than using embossing powder.

I then made a set of frames and used a sheet of acetate over the image so that the baubles appear to be floating!

Finally to finish the card I made a set of mats and layers in the vintage gold and red card.

A time consuming card but really fun to make and worth it for a special Christmas card!

Something Lighter...

Happy Tuesday!

Today's card is the antidote to yesterday and is a great deal lighter!  I have to say that the ribbon on yesterdays card was actually a dark plum however it did come out red on peoples screens, will be careful with that colour of seam binding in future!

Back to today and a quite simple card of a die cut in the Sue Wilson Vienna die cut and some stamping.  I cut an aperture in a hand folded A5 card blank using the filigree section.  I then cut an oval in the same colour and stamped it.

The stamping is an old set form Creative Expressions that I've had for about 10 years.  All I did was stamp the sentiment, from the friends sentiments set, and then add the flowers, foliage and bees using green and black.

Finally a messy bow that hopefully matches the colours today!

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Vienna Die set
Milk foundation Card
Friends Sentiments stamp
Old random flower stamps
Moss seam binding

A Little Dark...

Happy Monday,

Today's card is a dark affair however in real life it really shines!

I started by using the shimmer texture paste through the delicate mask from that special touch.  I die cut a simple circle from the middle and foam mounted this over a piece of the same purple card onto which I had stamped and embossed the sentiment from Creative Expressions.

This was then mounted over black card and added to a few layers of purple and black to create a dramatic frame.

The lighter border, that shines, is actually made using cosmic shimmer silk glitter which I added to strips of double sided tape.  I love this glitter as it feels like silk and the more you stroke it the shinier it gets!

Finally a couple of flourishes from Sue Wilson's Curled vines die and a bow made from a matching seam binding.  Finished off with a black dazzler.

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Curled Vine die
That special touch detail mask
Cosmic Shimmer Shimmer Texture Paste plum
Cosmic Shimmer silk glitter lavender
Creative Expressions Friend Sentiments stamp

Simple Sunday...

Happy Sunday,

Thanks for all the wonderful and supportive comments yesterday, I can now admit that i did send in some Cards for Sues shows on Create and Craft yesterday, however I didn't know if they would pass muster with her so I didn't know until I tuned in that they had been used.  There were actually three others of mine that were featured that haven been on the blog yet I wonder If anyone spotted them!?!

Back to today and its back to simple Sunday where I show a card or creation that is simpler than my usual fair, Today's is simple and hopefully easy to recreate however it is new technique that I have used on a couple of cards that you may see in October...

I simply started by making an A5 card by folding a piece of Milk coloured foundation card in half and die cutting the larger and centre oval dies from the Sue Wilson Innsbruck die set.  Next I simply threaded some of the CE ribbon in a two tone green through the apertures around the edge.  Finally I added a piece of Brunswick green behind the die cuts to make the filigree show.

All in all a very simple and quick card that could have any sentiment added and perhaps, like this one, be ready to have a sentiment added when a card is needed in a hurry!

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Innsbruck die set
CE Ribbon
Milk & Green foundation card.

Something Different Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

Today's something different is firstly a continuation of the set I started last Saturday however It is also for a specific reason as well.  So for those of you who are going to Ally Pally next weekend you will be able to get a live demonstration of how to make this, by me!  I am really pleased to say that I will be on the Creative Expressions stand at the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking show demoing through the day.  Also on both days I will be giving a demonstration on how to make this candle wreath in the demonstration area.

So if you are going pop by and say hello, it would be great to put some faces to names!

Well news shared so then back to todays creation, as I am demoing this then there is just the ingredient list I'm afraid however as I have had to make so many of these that there will be enough left for me to video a tutorial.  However I have so much on my plate at the moment that it may be a while, possibly after the next announcement! lol

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Elegant Poinsettia die
Sue Wilson Single stamp stripe Stamp
Sue Wilson Holly Die
Red, Brunswick Green & Apple green foundation Card

Christmas Friday...

Happy Friday,

Last year I launched a Christmas Friday and it seemed quite popular along with allowing me a specific day to show my Christmas Cards and projects early!  I am resurrecting this as although its only September it is getting closer.

Also This months design Team challenge over at Creative Expressions was all about Christmas and I made too many cards for my weekly stint! lol  so here is another offering form the same range.  Also tomorrow and Sunday Sue Wilson is presenting all of her Christmas Dies on Create And craft Click her Blog HERE for show times.  So we all get an opportunity to see the full range and to see what wonderful creations Sue has come up with, with these dies!

Today's card then is my first presentation for Christmas Friday and is one of the five or six cards I made for my place on the CE Design team (for details on how to apply for the design team see Wednesdays post for the link).

I started by die cutting a circle in a few sheets of Coconut white, Red and vintage silver foundation card and cut them into increasing sized squares.  The front white panel I embossed using the Quilted Flowers A4 embossing folder  I then simply foam mounted each layer so that the circle remains through each sheet whilst the edges overlap.

I then die cut 2 of the holly swirls dies, these are great as the design has 2 separate dies which make the branches mirror each other, and added apple red twinkles as the berries.

The remainder is pretty simple I added three of the new satin flowers from Creative Expressions in the corner which, to me at least, remind me of Christmas roses. There is also a piece of Acetate at the back which shows the dimension between the layers and stops the aperture looking flat.  I added the finished front onto a 20 x 20cm red card blank onto which I have stamped the sentiment 'Tis the Season from a stamp set by Sam Poole.

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Holly Swirl Die
Spellbinders Circle die
Creative Expressions Silk Flowers
Sam Poole robin stamp (sentiment form this set)
Red, Coconut White & Vintage silver foundation card stock form CE

Tune in tomorrow for a Christmas Something Different Saturday and news on how you can see a demo of how I made it!

Enjoy...
