Simple(ish) Sunday...

Happy Sunday,

Although it may not look it if you ignore the rose this is a simple card that could be quickly replicated.  All I have done is to cut Sue's Italian background die form coconut white card, added a sheet of double sided adhesive sheet, and stuck the whole piece down to a card cut from rich plum foundation card.  Then I simply spread over Iced snow from the Glitter Jewels collection in the apertures.

Next I mounted this onto an A4 folded card blank  with a couple of layers of the plum and coconut white with foam tape.

To make it more complicated you can add a ribbon and a rose made using Sue's classic rose die set from her first release.  I dipped this is cosmic shimmer dries clear glue and added more of the iced snow.

Finally a bow, some dipped leaves, from the same set and a sentiment however the card has as much impact simply with the background cut!

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson's Dies
Classic Rose
Italian Collection Background
Iced snow
Rich Plum & Coconut White foundation Card.

A Gilded Different saturday...

 Happy Saturday,

This is a card form one of my recent shows and although I demoed this technique I didn't show the more complex card that I made before working out how to make a quicker version to demo.  I thought this was different enough to make a different Saturday!

This is a great technique for using up those tiny scrapings of Gilding Flakes that are left after you have made bigger projects in the bottom of the tub!

All I did was to die cut the centre filigree circle from Sues Italian collection Decorative Frames in a square pattern eight times around a square on a piece of Vintage Gold foundation card.  Next I added a scrap piece of double sided adhesive sheet to the back of the card, leaving a 1/2 cm border and stuck it down to a brown piece cut slightly larger.  Next I added all the small bits of gilding flakes over the whole piece rubbing them into the detailed sections also allowing bits to go over the edge to create a border.

I stamped the sentiment, form the Creative Expressions friends sentiments set, in the centre (which could be changed to a nice New Year card I thought).  The whole piece was then mounted onto a 21 x 21cm card blank made with layers of the brown and gold with an embossed panel at the front.

From this picture you can hopefully see that the small pieces give a lovely shine and as the apertures in this die cut are small you don't need to have large pieces to use.  It reminds me of a glitter like effect with all the small twinkles of colours in gold , bronze and silver.

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson's dies
Italian Collection Decorative Frames
Mixed Gilding Flakes (mixed from Leftovers form different pots and projects)
CE Friends sentiments stamp set
CE A4 Embossing Folder Knotted Trellis
Gold and chocolate foundation card.

Enjoy...

Christmas Friday...

Happy Friday,

I thought I would have just one more play with the Lyra die (one mire of many I guess) and this time add it to a Christmas card.  I decided to go with the classic colours of red and white which always seem to be a big feature of my Christmas Cards every year.

I started by cutting the centre panel and right hand edge of the Gemini Lyra die along the side of a piece of deep  red card and cutting the piece by hand into a square.  Next I die cut a piece of coconut white card using just the edge, I lined it up with the red piece and hand cut it to a smaller square to give me a border of the red.  I ran this piece of card through the GC with the Snowflake lattice A4 embossing folder and mounted it onto the red.

I then cut the 2 plain baubles from Sue's Festive Collection Sentimental baubles set in white and the detailed die and edge from the same red.  I simply mounted these onto each other and foam mounted them onto the card.  Next I ran a piece of bakers twine form each bauble shape and tucked it behind the front piece adding a gold cut bauble hanger to the top.

To finish the card I die cut both pieces of haply form the holly spray set in vintage gold and added cosmic shimmer red apple twinkles as the berries.  These pieces were draped across the top to looks like the baubles were hanging from a holly bough.

Finally I mounted the whole piece of gold before adding to a hand cut card at 21 x 21cm made from layers of gold, white and red card, with foam tape.  The sentiment is a die cut and debossed piece of gold card using one of the 2 sentiment plates included in the bauble set, it's hard ti read in the photo but it says Peace!

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson's festive collection Dies
Sentimental Bauble
Holly Sprigs
Gemini - Lyra
Creative Expressions A4 embossing folder Snowflake Lattice
Cosmic Shimmer Red Apple Twinkles
Red, Gold & Coconut White foundation Card.

Mixing Things up, Creatively...

Happy Wednesday,

This month at the Creative Expressions blog we are all chalking away and I decided to mix things up with the Chalk Board stamps.  As this is the first card I am presenting this month using the new range (which I believe Kim had on Create and craft a few weeks ago) I thought I should go with the classic white on black however to me it really worked with Kraft card stock as well!

I started by stamping the sentiment stamp "lets mix things up" using a snowcap adirondak ink onto black foundation card.  This ink gives a beautiful chalk white effect on then black card and means you don't need to emboss in white to get designs to show up on darker or black card.

I cut the image out using Spellbinders Ribbon Threader die from the Card Creator selection and threaded a matching black and tan ribbon, form Creative expressions, through the holes and made a three layer bow to add to the side.  I mounted this onto a large mat made from craft and black card.

I made a large 20 x 20 cm card blank to hold the stamped image by embossing a piece of Kraft card using the Creative Expressions A4 Pinpoint embossing folder checkerboard.  I inked this lightly with black soot distress ink and added to the layers of black and Kraft card.

Finally I layered the piece together using foam pads and a simple card with one stamped image completed that looks far more complex than it is!

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Mix Things Up Single stamp
Adirondak Snowcap Pigment Ink Pad
Spellbinders Ribbon Thread Die Set
Kraft & Black foundation Card
Creative Expressions A4 Pinpoint embossing Folder Checkerboard

As usual it would be great if you pop over to the Creative Expressions blog HERE and left a comment!

Lyra Love Tuesday...

Happy Tuesday,

Back to the Gemini and Lyra die today, now I know I'm not supposed to have a favourite but if i just say I LOVE this die and leave it there lol.  I promised a few more outings of this die this week and here is the first.  I just think this card looks so classy I hop you do too!

Its simply the die cut across the bottom at an angle using the centre and one of the edge dies in Rich Plum foundation card.  I then added scored lines at half centimetre intervals from the die cut to the top.  This simple style, Pioneered by Sue Wilson just gives a plain piece of card a classic edge.  As I was using a classic Sue technique I thought I should have a go at her pierced edge around the card, mine isn't anyway as neat as hers always are!

I added a piece of Milk foundation card behind the plum panel which I had embossed with a pinpoint embossing folder.  I cut this to the same size however I allowed it to make the piece into a nice long rectangle (I used A4 card and judged the sizes by eye led by the die)

It looked a little plain so I added a row of the Camilla flowers in the same Milk however I edged each one using the open petal die set in the plum to make the flowers 'pop'

Finally I added the new Dainty Rectangular frame which I cut as a whole, in milk card, and I drew around the centre die and hand cut the piece in the Plum.  Finally I stamped the sentiment, from Creative Expressions, in Black Archival on a piece of milk and cut it with the smallest die in the set.

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson's Dies
Camilla Open Petals
Camilla full petals
Gemini Lyra Die
Dainty Rectangular Frame
Creative Expressions Pinpoint A4 Embossing Folder
Plum & Milk Foundation Card

Finished Dimensions 12cm x 19cm

Time for Teal?

Happy Monday,

I had almost forgotten my love of the colour combination of Teal and white something I used to use on so many occasions.  I was looking at the new stamps to die for from Sue's new range, when I was chatting with Julia at her workshop the other day as she is the Queen of stamping, and I could just see this card in my head.

I started by stamping the floral doodle stamp to die for (to match the New York Collection) in Perfect Medium onto teal foundation card. I added cosmic shimmer detail white embossing powder and heat set it.  I did this twice more to make three identical images.  Using the square die from the New York collection, Herald square die set, I cut each stamped image out.  For the centres I hand cut the middles out using my scalpel.

To make the centre panel I simply placed them on top of each other and then wove a strip of white card, with a piece of teal seam binding stuck along it, through the three shapes.  I wove this piece over and under each successive corner so that all elements of the design were visible across the three.  I then foam mounted this onto a base embossed with the creative expressions A4 embossing folder adding a teal border and tucking the ends over.  To finish the card I added the panel to a large mat of white and teal .

Finally I added a multilingual bow in the same teal seam binding and a black large dazzler to the top.

Ingredients:
Sue wilson's New York Union square die
Creative expressions A4 embossing folder Climbing Vines
Stamps to die for floral doodle stamp
Teal and coconut white foundation card
Teal seam binding
