Lyra Love Tuesday...

Happy Tuesday,

Back to the Gemini and Lyra die today, now I know I'm not supposed to have a favourite but if i just say I LOVE this die and leave it there lol.  I promised a few more outings of this die this week and here is the first.  I just think this card looks so classy I hop you do too!

Its simply the die cut across the bottom at an angle using the centre and one of the edge dies in Rich Plum foundation card.  I then added scored lines at half centimetre intervals from the die cut to the top.  This simple style, Pioneered by Sue Wilson just gives a plain piece of card a classic edge.  As I was using a classic Sue technique I thought I should have a go at her pierced edge around the card, mine isn't anyway as neat as hers always are!

I added a piece of Milk foundation card behind the plum panel which I had embossed with a pinpoint embossing folder.  I cut this to the same size however I allowed it to make the piece into a nice long rectangle (I used A4 card and judged the sizes by eye led by the die)

It looked a little plain so I added a row of the Camilla flowers in the same Milk however I edged each one using the open petal die set in the plum to make the flowers 'pop'

Finally I added the new Dainty Rectangular frame which I cut as a whole, in milk card, and I drew around the centre die and hand cut the piece in the Plum.  Finally I stamped the sentiment, from Creative Expressions, in Black Archival on a piece of milk and cut it with the smallest die in the set.

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson's Dies
Camilla Open Petals
Camilla full petals
Gemini Lyra Die
Dainty Rectangular Frame
Creative Expressions Pinpoint A4 Embossing Folder
Plum & Milk Foundation Card

Finished Dimensions 12cm x 19cm

Enjoy...

  10. Hi John, although on my screen the rich plum looks brown, I have some so I know how pretty this card must look close too. I am making a list ( it saves any confusion) and this edge die is at the top. I have all of Sue's flowers so not sure where to put them on my list. As you have all what do you think? I would appreciate your opinion.
    Thank you.

    1. Hi Ros,

If you email me on Lockers@live.co.uk I can give you a fuller answer I would, of course, say you need these as they are a different shape entirely from Sues previous flowers.

  11. Hi John,
Another fabulous card...I like you love these Gemini dies, so much so that I have them all....it was my birthday yesterday and they were on my list LOL. Just wish you would have a "pin it" button on your blog like Sue Wilson and Julia Watts, then I could save all your beautiful cards for future inspiration!

  21. Love your card today. Simple yet classy. Thanks for including the finished dimensions. As I'm sure you know, our cards in the States are much smaller so it 's hard to judge size without the dimensions listed.

  27. Gorgeous card - luv it xx I have used this scoring technique a couple of times but always on the bottom third of a card but think it looks fab being the larger area of a card - I wouldn't have thought to do it that way round but it really works - luv the flowers along the die cut too xx GailT xx
