All White?

Happy Tuesday,

Todays card has a little story to it Im afraid!  When I was at the craft shop with Wendy last week I mentioned to the owner, when I was buying a new die, that it probably would get cut once then discarded for a few months till it hit my radar.  That is exactly what happened with this Spellbinders Adorning  Squares die.

Although I made a couple of projects using it last summer I didn't really use it that much however it hasn't been off my craft desk this weekend.

In this card I have used it to create a Filigree card base, the square base small however, IMHO, it creates a really sweet card.

The base is Spellbinders Adorning Squares decorated with layers of Gold Circles one and classic circles dies.  The flowers are an old Marianne flower die which I shaped, layered and centred with a pearl the Ivy is again Marianne and is shaped using a ball tool to make it twist around the embossed circles.

The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouseand is to encourage you all to Try it!

Your Card...

Happy Monday,

As promised at Christmas my new Monday feature is to be your card.  The idea is, for those who missed it, I will pick a name form the comments of the previous week on Sunday and make a card for that person!  Then if you email me on Lockers@live.co.uk I will post the card to you, simple!

Todays card is the first and is made for Gail T, her blog can be found HERE  Gail was randomly selected by Mr Next Door giving me a number over the phone (scientific or what!)  Therefore this card is for Gail.

Made with Gilding Flakes, Die cut and my ever present pearls!

HobyCutz Challenge 2014

Happy Sunday,

After a Christmas Break Today is the first new Hobbycutz challenge of 2014 and its a really easy challenge this week New Year, New Baby or New stash!  I am sure that everyone will have something to enter into this challenge There are prizes on offer for the winner so give it a go HERE
.

My design team card for this challenge was quite easy to choose as I didn't get any new stash for Christmas (note to self write Mr Next Door a list next year!) nor do I like making baby cards so It had to be New Year!

This is a large card  18cm x 18cm, I made it this large to to effectively showcase the laser cut circle.  I started by cutting a square of burgundy card, matting it on cream then running it through the Darice A4 embossing folder then die cutting a circle in the centre that matched the circle in the lasercut.

The roses and leaves are cut in the same card-stock using a Marianne flower die and the banner is hand cut.

Click over to Hobbycutz challenge HERE to see what the other Design Team Members have created!

Something Different Saturday

Happy Difference!

Something Different Saturday is Back (I hear groans from around the country "Not MORE Box's!" lol)  I'm afraid paper engineering is my favorite paper-crafting so I'm afraid its back to the 3D and box after box!

As you can see today's creation is a candle box, only for electronic candles or ones that are not to be lit may I add.  This is made with Spellbinders expandable pattern die and acetate.  The lid, next picture, is removable and is made as a separate piece using a Fan die from Tonic.

The piece is made using Core'dinations card-stock which has been cut, embossed and sanded to give an impression of carved wood.

Low on description hopefully highish  on style!

Softly Blue...

Happy Friday,

Today's card is a delicate colour with a shabby edge to it.  I based this one on an old stamp and some ribbon I inked using a turquoise chalk ink pad.

Seriously short on blogging time as I seem to have, somehow, spent over 6 hours in the craft room and now its midnight!

Sorry...

Enjoy...

A wallet of smiles...

Happy Thursday,

Todays card is a money or gift voucher wallet, made in simple cream and pale blue and using up mainly scraps of card and pre cut die cuts.

I started by folding a piece of A4 cardstock (PMD Cream Hammered) into three the die cutting the scalloped edge using Spellbinders Scalloped Borders one.  I laid a scrap of pale blue card behind to show through the filigree sections.

Next I embossed the whole piece using a Darice tumbling leaves folder then simply added the topper in the middle on a sheet of cream card edged in blue.

I embossed a scrap of pale blue cardstock the same way and added this inside before sticking down the flap (2 cm fold)

Hopefully you can get the idea of this from the pictures!

Enjoy...

Lets Brighten it up a Bit!

Happy Wednesday!

Love is, Not just for Valentines day!  I got a message from Val in Spain last week saying she had already started her Valentines day cards for her daughters shop!  This got me thinking hearts, although this is early I had to make a card featuring a heart and I found this red felt die cut I had cut for a Christmas decoration but not used.

I know its strange to base a card around a small embellishment however I wanted it to blend in not stand out and so this card was born.

I started by hand cutting a 15cm x 125cm card blank in red PMD cardstock then added a cream layer.  Next I cut a square at 14 x 14 and die cut the first two dies from Spellbinders adorning Square die and placed a red layer underneath to show through.  next I die cut each of the other dies in the set in red and cream and layered them, using foam tape, on top of each other.

A strip of ribbon hold s a tag die cut (sorry not sure which set) then the heart then the centre piece from the tag set stamped with hearts and LOVE.
