Simple Sunday

Happy Sunday,

Today's simple offering comes with an added extra, I have simply die cut the centre filigree sections form the Sue Wilson Innsbruck die in white hammered card.  This is then foam mounted over a CE Teal foundation card.

The added extra is the small panel at the end of the woven ribbon strip.  I have used the same technique as I did on Fridays card however I only stamped the image once onto shrink plastic and this time heated it in the oven which gives a nice flat finish.  I then coloured the reverse with oil pints to highlight the design.

The option today is to add the stamped 'tile' or not a simple card without a little more detailed with.  The choice is your.

Christmas Leftovers...

Happy Different Saturday,

Firstly I would like to say welcome to new visitors and followers as I seem to have gained a few this week!  To explain a couple of things every Saturday my post is subtitled Something Different Saturday, I attempt to create something that is not a card and is a different craft idea technique or creation.

Also If you have any questions for me please email me on Lockers@live.co.uk as I am unable to answer questions put in comments! Please fell free to email at any time!

Today's something different is a little bit of the scrap use of this and last week however it is in reverse.  I have made 2 projects this week that will be revealed over the next 2 weeks along with a little bit of news as well!  However form making these I had some leftover pieces and I wondered what to do with them.  It was actually Mr ND who suggested the Poshette which is a holder for the cutlery that we used to make when we had a restaurant a few years ago.  He said why not make a poshette and use the leftover pieces to decorate it.

Therefore that is the first project, the second is a name plate for your festive tables along with a little gift jar that could hold each guests preferred condiment as in the in laws house everyone wants a different sauce for their Christmas dinner, I'm not saying who has to have the ketchup!

I will post instructions for making the poshette next Tuesday if anyone wants to recreate the folds and thinks it would be useful for them  I have to say these do make table arrangements easier as they can be made up with the cutlery in advance and placed on the table at the last minute, saving much needed time!

Sue Wilson Elegant Poinsettia Die
Sue Wilson Ivy Die
Sue Wilson Filigree bow die

Melted Glass...

Happy Friday,

Todays' card is a bit of a change from yesterdays bright coloured card. I thought I would  calm things down a little with a white and silver card base that highlights the stamped panel that I tried to make look like molten glass.

The panel which is stamped, from Creative Expressions, four times onto a sheet of clear shrink plastic.  I stamped the images in Archival black ink and heat shrunk the plastic allowing it to warp to give the effect I wanted.

I made the card to highlight this piece by die cutting a piece of white cardstock with spellbinders labels 28 to create an aperture.  I mounted this, with foam tape, onto a sheet of silver mirror card then threaded silver ribbon across the aperture (although you cant really see it the ribbon is woven in the middle)  The stamped panel is then stuck on top of the ribbon.

I finished the card by adding a panel cut with the Enchanted labels 28, using a standard labels 28 to give the aperture.  I embossed the piece using a crafters companion rose folder and added a sheet of silver mirror card on which I cut the same labels 28 aperture in the middle.  This was all added to a hand cut white card blank and finished.

This would make a great wedding or anniversary card I think but could have multiple uses!

Saturdays Background #1...

Happy Thursday,

I thought today I should show the card I made with one of the backgrounds I created and showed on Saturday, if you missed the post click HERE to see it.  The card was made for Mr ND's sisters anniversary and was given yesterday so no worries about her seeing it early!

As you all know I started on the background, this was made using Cosmic Shimmer Silk glitter, a mask and a double sided adhesive sheet.  I used three colours of glitter Antique Rose, Pale Bronze & Lavender and an old mask form That special Touch (so sorry don't know which one!) .  I then stamped over the glitter, which is the astonishing thing about the silk glitter it dires completely falt and polishes up allowing you to stamp and emboss over it!

To make the card to house the background I wanted to keep the colours bright especially as Sancha loves bright colours and has a wonderful way with them.  Therefore I had to pick out the royal purple and off set it with the CE soft Gold card.  I matted the image onto a wide sheet of purple and made a Polished silk glitter border by using double sided adhesive tape to make a square frame, I added the glitter, Sahara Gold, and polished it to a shine.

Next I added a couple of layers of soft gold and royal purple to make the square card base.  I felt that while I loved the background I had created it was a little too stark on its own so I ran a length of satin ribbon down the right hand side and added a soft gold die cut from the Spellbinders Gold elements one corner die.  The sentiment panel is made using the centre oval die form the Sue Wilson Austrian collection background die on a hand cut mat in the same soft gold.  The sentiment is stamped in bright gold detail embossing powder and is finished with a messy bow and large silver dazzler.

A bright card for me but loved by the recipients!

Golden Card & Opportunity...

Happy Wednesday,

Well from now on there will be a new weekly feature every Wednesday.  This is because of a bit of news I have to share with my lovely blog followers and friends.  I have been keeping this secret for a while but today is the day to release my exciting news! I have been lucky enough to have been placed onto the Creative Expressions Design Team.  Now I am sure you all know that I am a huge fan of the Sue Wilson dies as well as the stamps and other CE products.  There will undoubtedly be more use of their other products over the coming weeks, as I was lucky enough to spend some time at CE Towers as Mrs Duck names it so Have seen some fantastic stuff!

Therefore today marks my First project for the design team, it would be great if you pop over to their blog HERE and comment as well!  Every Wednesday I will be presenting my weekly project for the Creative Expressions blog.

I started by stamping the Elegant Poinsettias stamp from the stamps to die for range in perfect medium and embossed it with detail gold embossing powder.  I stamped the three different sizes onto white card and cut them out using the Sue Wilson Elegant Poinsettia die set (which fits the stamped images perfectly).  I made up three of the full poinsettia flowers by shaping the petals and gluing the centres with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue before adding a silver mini dazzler to create the centres.

To make the relief card base I used the Pine Bough die from Sue Wilson to cut apertures in a 14 x 14cm card and foam mounted it onto Brunswick green foundation card.  I then added sprays of the white and green pine bough die cuts, using foam pads before mounting the poinsettias onto the spray of pine.

To finish the card I mounted the front piece onto a mat of soft gold card.  I added this to a layer of coconut white card embossed with the quilted flower A4 embossing folder, again matted onto a piece of the green and soft gold.

Finally I placed the whole piece on a large hand cut card blank and finished.

I hope you all like my first Creative Expressions project and will pop back next week to see what I have next or tomorrow for a regular post!

Keep on Stamping

Happy Tuesday,

I thought after the success of Monday stamping I should, for a little while at least, keep on stamping!

Today's card hopefully shows how effective a simple image, stamped in detail White embossing powder, can be.  I started by stamping the rose design, from a Sue Wilson single stamp, in perfect medium onto pale blue card and embossed the design. Next I die cut the image using the centre section of the Austrian collection background and inked it in broken china distress ink whilst in the die.

The remainder of the card is relatively simple, just a die cut in cobalt blue card of the full background die. The corners, from the matching Austrian collection tags and corners set, are cut in the same pale blue card and used on opposite corners to highlight the frame and image.

A mat of the pale blue and a matching grosgrain ribbon and bow finished the front.  A monochromatic card that would suit any occasion.

Monday Stamping...

Happy Monday,

As I know I have mentioned before I started out in craft stamping however it seems to have been sidelined recently (for that read for an age!)  So I thought Id have a go at stamping and challenging myself with some stamping.

Of course I had to add a little bit (for that read a lot) of die cutting as well!  The image is stamped three times on a piece of super smooth card and coloured with a silver gel pen.  I then cut three oval apertures and foam mounted the stamped image behind.  The frames, and apertures, are cut using the Sue Wilson French Collection die in a pastel blue card.

The top card is then foam mounted onto a pale blue mat which is, in turn, foam mounted onto a hand cut white card blank.

I finally added a strip of matching ribbon and a mixed bow of satin ribbon and 2 shades of tulle.  Of course there are a couple of Wendy's hatpins.
