A Pink Mask...

Happy Monday,

It seems ages since I started messing  about with masks and this card came from one of the techniques I tried using one.  This whole card is based on the centre panel which Is embossed with a coral coloured translucent embossing powder from Creative Expressions that was part of a set I bought a couple of years ago and as usual put away and didn't use!

I inked through the mask with a pink pigment ink then heat embossed the piece using the coral powder.  The remainder of the card is made to showcase the inked and embossed panel.

I cut a double section of the French Harmony background die form spellbinders in a white smooth card and inked through and round the die in the same ink as the panel.  I mounted this onto a sheet of deep coral card and added it to a large 18 x 18cm card blank.

The centre piece is made by mounting the panel on a sheet of the same coral card as the background mat and foam mounted this over a piece of coral core'dinations cardstock, more coral and foam mounted this onto the finished background card.

The sentiment is mounted over a banner made from a scrap of the embossed mask piece and stamped onto a white die cut from Spellbinders Tranquil Moments.  Finally, I hear you all cry, is an oval cut from the core'dinations using an oval from spellbinders elegant ovals and made into a frame using spellbinders classic ovals small.

Ingredients:
Mask (can't tell you which one as it's packed however it is mentioned a couple of weeks ago)
Spellbinders French Harmony Background Die
Spellbinders Elegant Ovals
Spellbinders Tranquil Moments
Spellbinders Classic Ovals small
Creative Expressions Pearlised embossing powder coral
Core'dinations cardstock.

A complex card however worth the effort I feel!

Even Simpler...

Happy Sunday,

Well the feedback to last weeks premier of simple Sunday was great so guess it's here to stay, at least till I run out of ideas I guess! lol

Today's card is even simpler than last week, uses one die, one sentiment stamp and one colour of ink how simple can you get?  I started by hand making a 12cm x 12cm card blank from PMD Ivory hammered cardstock (something I am running really low on but I wont order any more 'till I get back to the U.K.

Next I cut the centre die from the Spellbinders Mystical embrace die and inked the piece that it cuts.  Next I stamped the sentiment on the die cut piece and placed it on the back of the card through the aperture.  Finally I die cut the next shape in the set which is the elegant oval style and foam mounted this over the aperture after adding a simple strip of ribbon

A very simple card that could have the sentiment changed for any occasion or be made into quick batch cards.

Ingredients:
Spellbinders Mystical Embrace die
Ivory Hammered PMD cardstock
Crafters Companion Sentimentals stamp
Sage Distress Ink.

Something Different Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

I really should stop calling this different as its another box ! lol

This is different though because its circular.  The construction of this one is quite simple I die cut the centre section of the die and mounted it on plain blue cardstock this gave me the sizing for the box.  I then made a simple base for the lid to fit.  I die cut another of the circle dies and clipped out the centre section, shaped it and added it to the top with a few pearls for definition.

The tag is quite interesting, for this I used the centre section from the umbria die set cutting a circle from the middle.  This is stuck down to a sheet of matching blue card which I folded at the edge and ran the whole piece through my GC with a circle die that hangs just over the edge of the fold.  This creates the circle tag!  I stamped the sentiment in the waste piece of White from the centre and adhered it to the back of the tag so that it is visible through the aperture.

Spice up your Friday...

Happy Friday,

I found some more Ginger Card!  I can hear groans going all over the UK! lol

i used the same technique as I did on last Mondays card Click HERE to see the original however I thought I could make a slightly larger version for today and spend a little more time telling you how to achieve the squares from a rectangular die.

I die cut the background die then, using a scalpel, cut our the centre panel.  The next step is to cut a diagonal line between the outer and inner corner of the die cut piece.  This when repeated on each corner creates 4 strips each with a mitred corner.

I then repeated this with a second die cut piece which gives 8 strips, 4 long and 4 short.  I then used 4 long pieces joined at the corners to make the large square and 4 shorter pieces joined to make the smaller square.  It is easier if these are stuck down to a square piece of card which is the same size as the long edge of the strips.  This picture should show more clearly how this was done, if you look at the corners you can more clearly see the joins in this colour.

The centre panel is simply one of the centre pieces form the die which I cut out to make the lace squares.  I rotated the 2 squares and foam mounted them to make a large card, with a few layers of matching card.  Finally a stamped square cut in cream again form the centre of the same die.

Still Stamping....

Happy Thursday,

Again a little light relief from the die cutting frenzy of this week and back to my first craft love stamping.  Now this card is made using the guys set from Waltzing Mouse that I bought an age ago.  I just wondered what this would look like stamped in a simple sage green on cream and embossed with creative expressions detail clear powder.

I started by stamping the lace detail across the edge of a hand cut card blank then stamped and embossed this again on a scrap piece and fussy cut it out (fussy cutting for the person who asked a couple of Weeks ago means cutting by hand to me at least)  I foam mounted this over the first stamped and embossed image.  I then stamped the sentiment and mounted this under a hand cut panel stamped with a frame form the same set.

The ribbon details and bow is mounted under and through a circle again form this set stamped in the same way.  A simple list of ingredients making a clean and simple card that should look classic.

Ingredients:
Waltzing Mouse A Guy Thing stamps set
Super Smooth Cream PMD Cardstock
Sage Green pigment Ink
Creative Expressions detail clear embossing powder
Ribbon & Thread from stash .

Filigree Circles

Happy Wednesday,

This card is, amazingly, made with the exact same die set as I used for yesterdays card and even I have to admit it looks so different.  I do find that one of the pleasures of die cutting is that dies can be used for so many different cards and can be made to look so unique!

Today's card is made as a trifold filigree card with the die cut three times twice with a hinge which means that there are two folds in this card.  I am finding it very hard to describe the workings of this one and, once again, I am hoping that the photos will help.

Each of the three panels in this card is decorated in a different way however I have only used the die set to make this.  I simply die cut additional pieces in coredinations cardstock in a deep violet and added them in front and behind the layers.

The interesting element of this card is the sentiment tag, this was made using the die set.  I cut a strip of cream card then used the corner of the largest die on each end making the matching tag.  I simply stamped this and foam mounted it onto the top of the front

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Umbria Die Set
CReam smooth PMD cardstock
Core'dinations cardstock
Pearls, Tulle & Hatpins.

I really hope you get the idea of this one, If needed I will shoot a video tutorial on this just let me know!

It's a Sin!

Happy Tuesday,

Oh well in for a penny in for a pound as they say where I originally come from (South Yorkshire if anyone was wondering!) Since I bought three new die sets I had better get the most out of them! lol

Today's card is made using the Umbria die set, again from the Italian collection however this is made in a rarely used for me green.  I don't know why but this verdigris green just appealed to me when looking for a colour to showcase this die.

I started by letterpressing the Darice A4 embossing folder with sage green chalk ink then cutting the largest die from the set out from the centre to create the aperture.

Next I cut the largest die from the green card, i cut a circle from a sheet of cream card and mounted the green piece over the top.  Then I cut the centre die, which doesn't have an edge so gives a beautiful filigree effect, from green and mounted this over a sheet of cream into which I had cut a smaller circle.

The final circle die was cut and stamped with congratulations circle stamp then mounted behind the final aperture.  It is a little difficult to describe but this is a kind of tunnel card as each successively smaller die cut is mounted behind the larger one.

There are a few pearls and a little distress inking on the edges to give some definition.

Ingredients:
Sue Wilson Umbria die set
Darice Tumbling leaves embossing folder
Cream PMD cardstock
Green Lidl Cardstock.
Sage green distress ink
Circle stamp Crafters Companion Sentimentals

Hopefully you can get the idea from the pictures of how this one is constructed...
