Something Different Saturday

Happy Saturday All!

Something different is back with, you guessed it, a Box!  Today I am presenting a Hexagonal gift box.

This box is made using Acetate, PMD Cream card and an X-Cut Hexagonal die (one of my new purchases on my recent U.K. Buying trip).

The bottom is solid with the acetate sides attached however the lid is removable, hence the ribbon handle.  As with all my prototypes this is decorated quite simply with ribbon and a gift tag stamping with stamps from Creative expressions in beige and charcoal.  I am hoping to have something a little more decorative for the tutorial on Tuesday.  AS I am sure you are aware by now to create the tutorial I have to backwards engineer the box to get the measurements and work out how best to describe the workings.

Laser Cut Love

Hello,

I was really unsure whether to post this one as I cant work out whether the Square and butterfly works.

I love, if you will pardon the pun, the Laser cut LOVE and have left this as it comes rather than paint, distress or embellish it in any way.

Let me know what you think, should I rework this one?

The Power of Blog!

Good Morning Crafty Friends,

Firstly thanx for your comments yesterday I certainly split opinions on this one!  I can see now why I didn't post it, sorry the link didn't work click HERE to see the card I actually posted! (Honest it works this time!)  For Maggie P, and anyone else who asked, when I say PMD card I am referring to Paper Mill Direct.  I sent a plee out amongst my readers and followers a few months ago for a supplier of card that would send to me here in Spain for a reasonable cost and PMD was the clear winner.

Todays card was made with a specific friend in mind, thankfully I asked Mr Next Door to choose one for her and this is the one he chose.  I'm not saying who it's for she will know when she receives it! lol

This is a quite simple card to make, firstly I ran a sheet of milk chocolate coloured card and ran the whole sheet through a Darice Embossing folder and gently rubbed Creative Expressions Pearl Moon Gilding wax over the raised sections.  This was folded into an A4 Card and I cut three of the centre panel dies from Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles to create 3 windows or apertures through to the inside back.  The die cuts from these apertures were then placed on the inside back of the card on top of a piece of rich brown card.  The picture shows what I mean here, hopefully!

To finish the front I simply added a strip of cream ribbon and a simple bow behind which I tucked 2 die cuts from the Joanna Sheen Signature range.  The apertures had acetate placed behind them to give a finished look.

To complete the inside I stamped, using versamark and gold embossing powder, the word friend from Do'crafts Love Letters. This was foam mounted and a further Ivy Flourish tucked behind and on top.

Almost Ran...

Good Morning Lovely Bloggers!

Todays card is an almost ran, see Sundays post for others and an explanation, That I actually really like!  I didn't post this one as I made it for my Design Team at House Of Cards however just before adding the picture to the DT Blog I have a crisis of confidence and didn't feel it was good enough when I looked at everyone else's efforts!

I made an alternative (click to see the alternative card I remade and posted) so never posted this one.

This is a gate fold card using an A4 sheet of PMD card with a double matt of My Minds Eye paper alternatively matted with blue and Kraft card.

The centre panel is a blue circle which I stamped and embossed using Detail White embossing powder.  This is mounted on a Kraft die cut using Spellbinders Iron works and accents.  This is on a floral circle die cut I cut twice using an old die (no idea which sorry)

The flourishes are cut in both blue and Kraft card with the Kraft card inked through the die.

Finally a double Les Papillion 2 in Kraft and blue with a gem body!

Getting Cooler....

Good Morning All,

After last weeks storms it's got a little cooler here (more into the high 20's low 30's) this along with the lovely Autumn themed cards that Heather made last week influenced me into making what is an
autumnal feeling card.

This card is made using Spellbinders Elegant Labels four, one of my favourites, and the filigree card technique.  Sorry it hasn't photographed well!  After posting a filigree card yesterday I received lots of comments asking how these are made.  I am trying to put together a tutorial for this however there are a great deal of video tutorials on YouTube.

 I have made the backing paper using an old Creative Expressions stamp set and a big and juicy tonal ink pad.  This was stamped repeatedly onto craft paper and a Creative Expressions text background stamp over the top.  This was then mounted on cream cardstock and a larger mat made with another stamped sheet.

The leaves on the front are stamped in the same way then fussy cut out, folded and grouped together with a spray die cut from Joanna Sheen's new signature range.

Normal Service Resumes !?!

Good Monday Morning,

I managed to spend a little time in the craft room yesterday however apart from todays offering they were all cards for my design team blogs!  Therefore I have a simple filigree card for you today, I felt the sentiment, from Whimsy Stamps, was right...

"I may not have gone where I intended to go but I think I have ended up where I needed to be"

I think this sums up, to me  at least, the ups and downs of life.



This card was made using the filigree technique using Spellbinders Elegant labels four as the base card.  Next I cut a mat of My Minds Eye paper and foam mounted this onto the card base.  This was then finished with a cut from Spellbinders Radiant rectangles with the sentiment stamped on top using Archival Black.  This was foam mounted over a strip of woven ribbon and a butterfly from Spellbinders Las Papillion's 2 and, of course, a pearl!

Happy Sunday!

Morning All,
firstly I would like to say thanks to all of you for your comments and best wishes.  The house is dry (the sun does a marvellous job!) and apart from a couple of pillows and a duvet used to keep the water out nothing has been ruined!  With everything going on this week I haven't done any crafting since Monday!  This is very unusual for me and I have to admit that although the sun is shining my Craft room is calling.  For today I thought, as I have nothing Really New I would showcase a set of nearly ran's!  To me a nearly ran is  a card that I make, photograph, but don't post as there is something I just don't like.  Hopefully I'm being overcritical and you will enjoy my nearly ran's!

This card I made to test out a new Big and Juicy ink pad I bought cheap on eBay!  The main image is DoCrafts.













This was a centre piece made for a wedding card for a friend.  I cant find a picture of the whole card which is probably why it Nearly Ran!

















Simple stamped and coloured Sweet Pea stamp from Joanna Sheen, and finally (I hear you cry) a card that I feel is just too busy and bright!
