HobbyCutz Sunday!

Happy Sunday,

Sorry today's post is late guys however I was waiting for this weeks hobbyctz challenge to go live!  This weeks challenge is shaped cards and I had a hankering to see what the trellis die from Tonic would look like cut as a filigree card so here it is...

I cut the card base using the die to cut through two layers of cardstock from PMD however I left the cnetre section whole.

I stamped dream in the top right corner with versamark and dusted it with Gold Mica powder (set with Hairspray as I have been asked a few times)

Next i dusted a selection of wooden laser cuts from Hobbycutz with the same mica to give the wood a lovely sheen.  I added a few bronze gems around the foliage and on the butterfly.

Finally I added a few of the gems in the spaces on the die cut card base and finished, a little dark but hopefully the filigree spaces make it a little lighter.

The hobbycutz challenge is open to everyone and this weeks theme is shaped cards so get creating and entering! You may even win one of the prizes from our spaonsors.

Different Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

I have to admit that todays project (not a box hurrah) started out as something different than what I am presenting. I watched the Sheena Douglas you tube video featured on the Hope and Chances website and decided to cover the carft caddy I purchased from there with the leather technique however for the large pieces I needed for this It just didn't work!  I decided to go for a smaler first  project so this grungy notebook was born.

Now I dont normally present grungy projects although I do like to get my hands dirty occasionally!

I started by colouring the "leather" with a combination of distress inks ( black soot, fired brick and vintage photo) before attaching it to an already made natebook.  I then added more ink to age the cover and hopefully make it look like it had been in a drawer for years.

The front tag was made using a sizzix Tim holtz book plate die which I cut out of the inside of a coke can is it is actually metal! I aged this with a selection of alcohol inks!

A strip of ribbon, as a page marker and a bead and finished.  A little distressed but I hop you like as this is very different for me.

For Val...

Happy Friday,

Today's card was made especially for Val in Spain (who lives in the next village to me here in Spain)  On Wednesday Val left me a comment that really touched me today is a special and sad day for Val and having recently lost someone I felt that I should do what I can to brighten her day.  Therefore this simple card was made for Val.

 The sentiment says it all!

Something More Filigree...

Happy Thursday,

I thought, after a run of homespun style cards, that I should feature one that is a little more the style that I am known for.  On Monday I was late typing my post as I was making this (a well as finishing a project for Saturday)  I aslo manged to publish Tuesdays post early!

Sue Wilson background (didn't thin k it would take long before I used this one again!) Spellbinders Curved Borders, gold ovals, ovals large to make the band.

In the same vein...

Happy Wednesday,

Today's card is in the same vein as yesterdays in that i used the same products however there is a little die cutting on this one.

Firstly to answer Jackie's question from Yesterdays comments I don't use anything to seal my Mica stamping.  I have, in the past, used hairspray however I find that a good dusting over with a thick make up brush (i'm sure there are correct brushes for this but the makeup brushes are cheap!)  This seems to burnish the surface and keep the colour on!

The focal element heart is not die cut, having looked through all my dies I do not own one that cuts this homespun heart shape so I hand cut it before embossing.

This card actually started with the frame which I cut using a simple square die and a postage stamp style die.  I foam mounted this over a plain piece of cardstock which I stamped using versamark with a same colour mica powder to give a damask effect.

The handcut heart is placed in the frame with a banner, cut in the same hand stamped paper, stamped with dream finished with a spellbinders Les Papillions 2 die.

Finally I mounted the whole piece on a handcut Kraft card base which I stamped in the same way, using the same colour Mica.

This is a card I actually gave to a good friend as her Birthday card yesterday, as you know i rarely make cards to give away.

I hope, like lesley, you...

Tuesday Quickie!

Happy Tuesday,

Just a quick post today as, once again, running short on time.  I seem to lock myself in my carft room and create when I think,"must post something for tomorrow" I realise how late it is!!

Today's creation  is made using no die cuts at all just simple stamping, using Versamark, and Mica powders.  I stamped the hearts and fussy cut them before mounting onto a layer of stamped Kraft card which I had also stamped and added Mica to.  This is double mounted and added to a piece of card embossed with sizzix spots folder.

Very simple but would do for loads of occasions!

Enjoy...

Your Card Stephanie

Happy Your Card Monday,

Now this weeks recipient is a friend over here who wheedled the blog address out of me and started to comment.  Stephanie is a friend from the drama group I belong to and she has the most amazing voice I have ever heard!  She will be playing opposite me in our next production and as this is not a pantomime I will post some pictures of the production in June (no way am I sharing my Widow Twankey photo´s!)

Today's card then had to be dramatic and as I wanted to try gilding the Spanish background die from Sue Wilson this seemed a great starting point.

I used a double sided adhesive sheet from 3L (Hope and Chances purchase) and die cut the spanish collection background die.  Once removed from the die I peeled off the top sheet and gilded the piece using sheffiled steel gilding flakes.  This was matted onto silver then lavender cardstock.

The centre piece is made by diecutting the large piece from Spellbinders ironworks in silver mirror card and a picece from lavendar card onto which I stamped DREAM from crafters companion sentimentals.

I hope stephanie, and of course all my lovely blog friend like it too.

Enjoy...
