Tutorial Sneak Peak...

Happy Monday I know I said that yesterday!!!,

To answer the questions from yesterday I use archival ink in black for acetate however I have also used stazon in the past.  I also got a little confused yesterday as i wrote the post quickly as Mr Next Door was flying in at the last minute!

For tomorrow I have worked up yet another tutorial, this time for die cutting the spellbinders filigree delight die without it cutting the outside edges.  I used this technique on my Mothers day card, which my mum loved, click HERE if you missed it.  Today's card is the one I made using the resultant die cut piece in blue as you can see the filigree is the only part cut the outside edge is left whole.  This technique allows you to make this piece as large as you want.

In this example I have placed a Sue Wilsonesque pierced frame around the die cut however this is foam mounted on top of the die cut piece with a small edge peeping through.  I did it this way to showcase the edge and to prove there is no trickery lol!

I mounted the whole piece on a light blue mat and foam mounted this on a few layers of pastel and navy blue.

Next I added flowers which are cut using Spellbinders Cherry blossom die with inked centres and edges which I have shaped using the same technique as I showed in my video flower tutorial, click HERE to see that!  I stuck the Flowers on around one corner and overlapped them onto the frame, i added some perfect pearls in the very centres as well as some dots to highlight the filigree delight die cut.

The centre piece is a stack of Spellbinders Gold Ovals with a stamp in my signature Enjoy...

Tune in tomorrow for the tutorial on making the filigree die cut,

 for Today,

Enjoy...

Gilded Gate My Style...

Happy Monday,

A mix of dies and styles today, Sue Wilson and Spellbinders which seem to go together in my mind.  Today's card is made using the Sue Wilson Spanish Background (I LOVE her background dies they are just so versatile)  and Spellbinders Gilded Gate die.

The Sue Wilson is cut and inked through the die and then I cut out the centre section and mounted it onto Bronze Glitter card, also with an aperture.

I cut two of the gilded gate die in cream and stuck them together across the middle before mounting these, bowed out, across the aperture.

In added a strip of cream sheer ribbon and a bow to highlight the cut edge.  Finally I added the sentiment onto a strip of acetate attached with some of Wendy's beautiful hatpins.

Goodbye Old Friend

Happy Saturday,

Today's creation is a something different and It was made specifically for someone and was given yesterday.  The shop I work in I work with two lovely Ladies however one of them, Hazel, decided to return to the U.K. permanently.  I have loved working with her and she has become a really good friend.  When my Step Father was Ill and my mum was 24 hour caring it was like having 2 extra mums, hazel was the fun mum!

I wanted to make something really special for her and she loves Birds and Birdcages so this just flipped into my mind.  A few months ago Amazing Paper Grace made a similar filigree stand to hold a photo, this has been sitting at the edge of my brain for a situation just like this.

I started by die cutting the small cage from Spellbinders birds and cages 4 times and sticking them together to make a 3D birdcage.  I added a cocktail stick inside to house the bird cut with the same die.  Next I made the filigree stand, in six die cuts, to hold the cage.  Finally I made a hexagonal box in acetate to hold the creation.  The sentiment I used is a crafters companion stamp with the sentiment, which I thought was really appropriate "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

If you want a tutorial on the cage, stand or both let me know and I will see what Wendy and I can do!

That Friday Feeling...

Happy Friday,

More striplet I'm afraid.  This card started out as a general sentiment card however last Saturday a friend rang desperate for a mothers Day Card.  Therefore I grabbed this one and added a tag, to hide the original sentiment, and stamped it quickly with Mothers Day and a few flowers.

I may have mentioned before that most of my cards are in box's here in my craft room so changing one is an option I use quite frequently!  As I work in a card and Gift shop selling commercially available cards it's not really fair that I set up selling my hand made cards locally!  That said if a friend asks I will always see what I can do! lol

This is a simple talk A4, PMD cardstock, fold card in cream with the striplet cut down the left hand side in 2 parts leaving room for the sentiment.  The bow and flowers were from a card I made a couple of weeks ago and had removed to show what it looked like naked (i.e. without the bow) as I hate waste I re-used it.

This second picture shows the altered card with Tag and the box I quickly made early Sunday morning to hold it!

I love the simplicity of this one, hope you all do too....

Flower Tutorial

Happy Thursday,

Here, Finally, is the second part of the flower card and box tutorial.  In the tut I have shown the flower in yellow so here is the card I made to use the yellow flower.  I have mounted this onto a filigree card cut with the new Sue Wilson striplet die.  I love this die, as you may be able to tell over the next few weeks as I have made loads with it!

I understand that Mrs Duck has a beautiful card featuring this die today on her blog well worth a visit!

For today hopefully you will enjoy the video and, as always, enjoy...

More Pond Inspiration...

Happy Wednesday,

Tomorrow I will be posting the tutorial for the second half of the box and card I made a couple of weeks ago.  This time it's how to make the flower and base card.

Back to today a couple of weeks ago I was inspired by Mrs Duck, view her blog HERE, to buy the Sue Wilson striplet die as she has made so many beautiful things with it.  Today's card is the first I made inspired by the die and a trip to Mrs Ducks Pond.

I started by die cutting the striplet three times across a square of PMD (paper Mill Direct as Janine asked what I meant by PMD) cardstock in lilac.  I used the die without the outer section to create the filigree effect.  Next I mounted this, with foam tape, onto a piece of a darker shade of lilac / purple leaving a thin border before mounting onto a hand cut card blank using cream hammered PMD card (I managed to buy some A3 cardstock which allows me to make the larger size of card I have been making recently.

The centre section is simply the two shades of card hand cut and embossed using Spellbinders Gold Ovals with a sentiment from sentimentals by Crafters Companion.  Finally a few paper roses, which match the colour beautifully, bought on my last shopping trip to the U.K.

Your Card Tuesday

Happy Tuesday,

Firstly I wanted mention that my Mum loved the gift I made her for mothers day which I featured on Sunday.  Although I was working most of the day I was able to take off a couple of hours to treat her to lunch (and some flowers)  I hope everyone had a great day!

Whilst we were eating I showed my mum some of the comments and asked her to choose the number for this weeks card.  I asked her to choose a number between one and twelve which were the comments for that day she chose number four which was Lydia Jordan.  Therefore todays card is for Lydia, Lydia doesn't have a blog so I cant direct you to that however I can say that Lydia leaves some beautiful, encouraging comments that I love to receive.

Now todays card for Lydia is an usual colour combination of beige, cream and green however it hopefully works.  I started by embossing a sand coloured piece of CoreDinations cardstock with a spellbinders folder (can't remember which one) and sanding it.  I then cut a frame in the same card using Spellbinders Elegant labels 28, along with the tag in the centre.

To offset the haevy sand colour I cut a frame in the other die in the set in plain cream cardstock and layered it all up with a strip of ribbon, again to give some relief.

I hope you all, and especially Lydia, like the card.  As usual if you send me your address to Lockers@live.co.uk I will post it out to you.

P.S.  Leslie did you receive your card? If not I will happily send another as it has been a while now!

Enjoy...
