I admit it, I cheated

Hello All,

Strange title you may think however I really feel I cheated with todays creations.  On Monday I Posted my DT card for Lady Anne's Challenge (click here to view the all white version).  I was going to say I liked it so much that I copied it for today however I actually cheated and stripped down the card to make this.

I was asked to make an anniversary card in white and pink and as I loved Mondays version I thought I would simply add the pink!  The pockets do contain 3 more tags however these are for the names of the couple and a message so I have left them off (for Modesty's sake)

I went with three separate sentiments (from Creative Expressions) which, I feel, work together as a statement shouldn't we all Cherish True Love Forever?!?

I hope you don't mind this little cheat however my Design Team cards are obviously just for show and I hate waste!

Enjoy...

Tuesday Tutorial Box's

Hi All,

From all the comments on this box I guess I have used a very unpopular die!  I have to agree that I regret buying this one as well!  I have truly run out of ideas. I did decide, before retiring this die, to post the tutorial because as Heather suggested you could use lots of dies as the front piece!

The measurements are: 10cm x 4cm x10cm x 4cm by 1cm.  Score a piece of A4 Core'dinations paper at each of the points mentioned above.  Next score 4cm from the top of each long side and place the die in one of the larger panels!  see picture

Once die cut (you may have to fold the card to fit it into your die cutting machine) then decide whether you want a square top or a folded bag top.

For a folded bag type score each of the side 4cm panels in the middle at 2cm.  Otherwise fold both of the 4cm scores from the top edges and cut away, as seen in the picture) the 4 corners.

Use a piece of acetate, on the reverse, to stick to the die cut to seal the box and stick together!

For folded top stick the sides and bottom leaving the top which you fold by pinching in the sides at the 2cm score lines.  This gives you a look like a gift bag, simply punch holes and add handles!

For the fold lid box fold down the top flaps and chose your fastening.  I used a bard with a piece of ribbon attached so that I could tie this to a piece attached to the back.

It would be great to see these made with lots of different dies.  Enjoy...

Lady Anne's Challenge August

Morning All!
Today is the first Monday of the Month and so it means it's time for the new challenge at Lady Anne's Cards.  The theme this month is make a pocket card.  A pocket card is one where a tag or design is hidden in a pocket in the card.

This is my Design Team inspiration card for the challenge, hopefully it will inspire you to enter the challenge.  This months prize is donated by our sponsors Stitchy Bear Stamps

My Card has three pockets which I made from the largest insert die from Spellbinders Resplendent rectangles which I mounted onto the front of rthe card.  I decorated the front using a strip of die cut lace (Sue Wilson for Spellbinders I think) swirls from Gold elements one and a delicate Aster on the tag which I made using the smallest die in the rectangles set.

The tags in the pocket are made from the next size down from the pocket die and are decorated in simple ribbon with the wonderful digi stamp from our sponsors Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps
I love the sentiment of these and thought this would make a great anniversary card, especially with the "Dance as if no-one is watching"

It would be great to see as many of you as possible to enter the challenge as I get to look at your entries!! lol

Lost Mojo...

Hi Guys,

Last week was the last Mojo Challenge for the summer and I have to admit I am lost!!  As a place holder I've been thinking what to do instead however time has really run away from me this week!  I decided, initially, to post the tutorial for yesterday's box however it takes a while to photo.  Instead I have made a different version of yesterdays box and decided to post this.  The tutorials for both box's will be up next week!

I have made this version as a gift box style which, I'm hoping, adds more versatility to this die.  I don't like buying a die that I don't find many uses for however I may have to admit defeat on this one!  Let me know what you think!

Something Different saturday

Morning All,

Sorry if this post feels a little rushed however It is now 01:30 am Saturday Morning and as Blogger has decided not to play ball I have had to retype this.  I have just got in from work so I'm sure you will excuse me!

A little explanation on this die is needed I feel!  When the 2013 Spellbinders release was demonstrated I went straight online and pre-ordered The just swingin'  die.  Since I received it I have used it exactly once!  A few weeks ago Ita in Ireland used the die for This Post stating that she didn't know what context and projects to use it one, I have to admit I have had the same problem.

Since then I have been trying to find a way to use this one to its full potential, and me being a bit of a paper engineer!, I came up with, you guessed it, a box!

This die seemed the perfect window to me in a nice, simple square box and here it is!

As the box seems to simple however I do have a tutorial with sizes ready if anyone wants it!  I also made a tag and a different closure for this one to add some interest.  I have used this box to contain a bag of chocolate covered Peanuts it was meant to house some of my cinder toffee (the inside of crunchy bars we call it cinder toffee where I come from) however I just ran out of time.  I did think this would be great made in black with spiders etc. for Halloween (might be a useful gift for the U.S. Grandkids Heather!)

I hope you don't mind a little more Paper Engineering!  Enjoy...

Red and Yellow and Pink and Green...

Good Morning all!

It certainly has been a rainbow of colours this week, I never thought I would use Bright orange, Black, White and Silver in the same card however yesterday It actually happened!  Today I am going back to the beginning of the rainbow and back to basics with a simple card!

Todays card Demonstrates my love of spellbinders Labels dies, this one is Labels 18 (Thanx Margaret for informing me of which one it was)

I started by cutting #4 die in the range out of a cream piece of cardstock and mounting an embossed piece of scrap in Red behind it.  Next I cut 2 frames 1 in red, 1 in cream using die #4 and #5.  Then I cut 2 more, in the same colours using die #4 and #3 (sounds complicated but it's not!

These were layered up, using foam squares, interlocking starting with red, then cream and so on.  I rotated each different layer which I feel changes the shape and gives more possibilities.

The Leaves are Spellbinders Foliage and are inked through the die and the flowers are handmade by Wendy (so don't know which die sorry)  Sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse and sums up what I would say to all my blog visitors, especially those who comment, Thanks for being there!

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks rainbow, maybe it's green next week....Enjoy...

HOC - Fifth Week and Photo Inspiration

Hello Lovely Blogites!

http://yourdecoratinghotline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/floral.bhg.orngwllprpss_Jazz7a.jpgThis week over at House Of Cards its the fifth week of the month and that means Photo Inspiration and any style goes.  This is my design Team card for the challenge. As it is any style this week all of us on the Design Team are making cards in our style to give you some ideas, this is the picture to give you inspiration followed by my interpretation of the picture in my usual Classic and Elegant style.

It would be great to see everyone enter for this challenge Click here for as quick link to House Of Cards and the challenge rules!

I actually made two cards for this challenge however the first I simply did not like, I felt the colours were off.  Whilst the orange in the picture is not quite bright enough I'm blaming the photo and camera! lol

I started this card by embossing the background with a floral embossing folder which I inked using a versamark.  Next I simply added silver embossing powder and heat embossed.  This gives a lovely embossed letterpress finish.

The buckle is made with three die cuts from Spellbinders Gold Labels four using standard labels four inside to make a frame.  I then inked through the dies to create the orange framing.  These were layered up and foam mounted with black and white ribbon threaded between.

Finally a bow with flowers and a hatpin and a simple sentiment banner.  I used the word celebrate to celebrate the first month of House Of Cards!

Don't forget there are still a few days to enter the challenge!  Enjoy...
