Shirley Birthday

Good Morning all,

Today's card is the one I made for Shirley (at work)'s birthday.  Working in a Card and Gift shop it's difficult to make a card for a colleague as we see virtually everything available!  However this does make the job somewhat easier as we discuss which we like and which we don't!  I know Shirley really does not like fussy over embellished cards so anything for her has to be stylish yet simple, here's what I came up with...

The main focal element is the Spellbinders Filigree Delight die that seems to sit permanently on my craft desk, I'll find a new favourite soon sorry!

This was cut twice in white card and layered over each other to give the idea of a square.  I mounted this onto another piece of the First Edition Floral Pavilion paper, this one is a fabric feel paper and is really tactile, it reminds me of an old chintz sofa fabric (more of that later in the week)  I matted this onto a square of white card, then a pink Do'crafts paper and finally mounted it onto a square white card blank.

The sentiment is stamped onto the same paper as the background and cut with 2 dies from the Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles (the backing one in white which has a lovely pricked outline)  Finally I finished the card with 6 heart gems (hope Shirley doesn't count this as over embellished) and a pink ribbon.  Enjoy...

Also a shout out to Val in Spain, one of my followers and frequent (lovely) commenters, bizarre as this sounds we have probably met as she lives about 7 minutes from me!  The shop I work in is the Card and Gift Shop Quesada, down the alley before the Sol Bank, pop in next time your in the village and say Hi!

Ladys Anne's Challenge 2

Good Morning ,I've been having some problems with Blogger scheduling, this post should have gone live YESTERDAY lol, probably my fault but here we go again...

Morning all,

It is time for our second challenge at Lady Annes challenges , I hope you will spread the word with your friends and fellow crafters as this is a small (as yet) challenge,  there were not too many entries last month, with a great prize.  It's also my first (and only) design team gig so I'd really like it to work!

I know from chatting to a few of you that you are avid crafters, well this months challenge is a great opportunity to showcase your work and perhaps win a prize. This month is a nice easy one - EASEL CARDS, that is what we want to see.  The challenge runs until Monday 2nd June.

Here's my inspiration, the image is from our sponsor, Digi Darla I have coloured the image with watercolours (its years since I painted so I need more practice)  this is layered on a deep blue mat cut with the spellbinders Filigree Delight die centre oval.  This is then layered, with foam tape, on a white die cut from the same set with a matching organza ribbon threaded through.  I've used a double sided paper from my current favourite First Edition paper pack, Floral Pavilion, in pale blue with some sapphire domed gems to finish.

Our sponsor this month is Digi Darla and they will give 5 digis of winners choice.

Feeling Blue...

Morning,  Todays card is one I have to admit I spent some time on, I was able to do this as because the play I was supposed to be acting in has, for usual Spanish Bureaucratic reasons, been postponed until later in the year, so guess we are all feeling a little blue!  To cover the period when I was to be on stage I schedules the posts for the period which probably explains anyu time lag on here you may have noticed!

This has given me more time to craft but, to be honest, little encouragement! lol  Todays card is another version of this one I made earlier in the week.  This does have my favourite stamp / sentiment on it which sums up me view of all craft antics!  Enjoy...

Something Different Saturday...

Hello,

as you may have gathered by now ideas float around my head for weeks before I actually do anything with them a large number of them never make it past the idea stage.  This is what happened with this idea, making die's into stamps!

These are the cards that I made with paper created by this stamping techniques.  On the second card I have used the stamp I made for the background as the centre piece.

I was cutting a Spellbinders die with funky foam just to see what it looked like when I realised that the end result was like some of the children's stamps I had seen.  This led to trying it out, here is the first attempt using Spellbinder Gold Elements one die I started to create a background which I used for the first card.

I'm sure you can all come up with clever ways to use your dies as stamps, I hope it works for you

Cut the die using funky foam and a magnetic sheet
Do Not emboss as this flattens the foam
Adhere to an acrylic block (I used 2 layers of foam and a rock a block from Crafters Companion)
stamp to your hearts content,  Enjoy...

Quick Post...

Morning,  a very quick post today this is a card and gift box I have been working on,
I am hoping, once I am happy with the box to upload a tutorial but really short on time so I thought I'd see if anyone likes it!  Let me know if you think this one is worth the tutorial, Enjoy...

Turned another corner...

Morning,  This corner die from Spellbinders Gold elements one seems to have made quite a few appearances lately, I really do seem to have a habit of working with a die de jour!

I have tried making this style of card quite a few times and taken it apart a few as well!  The corner has been cut four times two stuck straight onto the patterned background.  This was then matted onto the same mocha card followed by a red layer to echo the background in the Papermania capsule collection paper.

The main focal element is another deeper pattern of the paper from the pack with a wide stripe and knot of a deep brown satin ribbon.  This was then mounted onto Kraft paper which gives a lovely crisp line where the ribbon wraps round.  This was mounted on the base and two more corners stuck over the focal element covering the corners, an interesting twist I think, Enjoy...
