Dragonflies in flight...

Happy Thursday,

I really hope the snow and cold weather hasty affected you all too much as I wrote we dont have any snow here though it has been trying all day ( it stared at lunchtime during yesterdays workshop but thankfully didn't settle!)  I wanted to share a simple card today where the Dragonflies are the main element.  We use dies like these and flowers as an accent but they can be used as the main focus element of the card.

I stared with the background piece which was made using the Izink mer du sud pigment ink pad, my large media plate and a peacock feather ( I have demoed this on Hochanda a few times) I have had this piece since my last media plate shows but didn't know what to do with it it makes a perfect backing for the dragonflies.

I added some strips of ribbon down the left hand side in white and blue and foam mounted ted the white and blue panel over the top.

I cut the outer dragonfly die in blue card adding the detail die over the top in white glueing them in the centre so that I could fold back the wings as shown.  I added a Habico gem in the centre ( from the Art of Craft) and stamped the trail on below the dragonflies in the Mer Du Sud izink pigment ink.  The trails come from my Butterfly Corners clear stamp set which are the perfect size and style with these, you could use these as a guide and add a pearl or gem on each dot!

I finished with a large Gerbera cut in glitter foam over the matching Gerbera leaves and a messy bow of the blue and white ribbon.

Enjoy...

  6. Morning John, another gorgeous creation today, I love the peacock feather patterned background, as many of us cannot record Hochanda (I have Virgin) it means that we have to try and remember how you did the peacock feather, would it be very rude of me to ask if when you have time you could do a YouTube of it, I am sure that it will be so useful, as well as perhaps combining this with using other types of patterns.

Oh dear I can see the snow coming down again, we can't get in or out of our road, I am so worried about Sunday getting out for the retreat.

Wrap up warm and be careful if you do have to venture out.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

This is a lovely card. I really love the dragonflies and your glittery gerbera is lovely!
I'm so glad you don't have snow.
Everything has come to a standstill where I am: schools are closed and the snow is getting deeper.
I know it's cold because even my husky won't stay outside for long, lol.
Hope you have a good day. I've decided to make Christmas cards as I'm inspired by the landscape outside xx

  25. Hi John. I am not normally one for butterflies and dragonflies, but I would have to say that I am a real fan of these as they are a little bit different.

  27. Wonderful card design showcasing a couple of your latest dies. I agree dies cuts can be used for one's main element on a card as well as accents. I really like these dragonflies. I remember you using the peacock feather on your Hochanda show, but have forgotten just how you got the negative look of the feather on your background.

  29. I must express thanks to this writer for bailing me out of this type of incident. After checking through the world-wide-web and coming across notions that were not powerful, I believed my entire life was well over. Being alive without the solutions to the problems you have fixed by means of your good short post is a critical case, as well as ones that would have negatively damaged my entire career if I had not come across your web blog. Your primary skills and kindness in dealing with all the details was crucial. I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't come across such a solution like this. It's possible to at this time look forward to my future. Thanks so much for this impressive and amazing help. I will not think twice to recommend your web sites to anyone who needs and wants direction about this situation.Pintu Otomatis
