Cork Flowers...

Happy Sunday,

Ive had a fantastic couple of days at the Art of Craft mini show in Farnborough thank you to everyone who came along for the workshops and the demos!

I thought id share a simple card today that look like it is made with the Gerbera lattice die but it using its a trick of the eye.

I used the Gerbera Panel die and cut it across the middle of a piece of white card.  I then rotated the die and cut it form top to bottom.  This can thin the petals of the middle flower but it isn't noticeable if you don't know!

I then cut out the panel from a piece of cork from Crafters Companion.  I mounted the white piece over the remainder of the cork and placed the cork flowers in the corners.

Finally I added a small white gerbera over a bow of twine and added pearls in the centres of all the flowers.

  1. Hi John
Lovely card I must check the cork out it looks great.
    Enjoy your day.

  2. Morning John, wow this is lovely, didn't think it could be made with cork but it looks so effective. So pleased all went well for you at Farnborough too.

I am off to Hellen and Martine's workshop this morning, I know we are doing flower making with silk foam stuff, looking forward to that, then we have some stamping and colouring stuff with Hellen, another thing I like doing.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  3. Morning John, a very beautiful card must check out the cork too very effective and would be great for the guy's cards.

  10. Hi John. Great card today (I still can't quite work out how you did it though - I guess I will have to give it a try). How unusual to use cork.

  11. Morning John, what a fabulous card, love the cork with the white card, gives the card a nice rustic feel especially with the twine. Have a great day everyone, it is very icy outside, so take care. Bx

    Good morning John.
A very different card today but it is certainly an eye catcher. Talk about thinking 'outside of the box' you are a master in that area and in many others.
    Bye for now.
    Marie P.

    Many thanks,

  18. Hi John this is a stunning card I love it. I bought that die yesterday in fact I tried to buy it twice but fortunately my husband spotted my mistake before we were away from the till. I had a great time yesterday. It was a lovely event and so convenient for us being able to visit family as well. I didn't tell you but my husband and I meet at Farnborough Technical College. I hope you get some time to have a rest. Have a great week. Take care. Hugs Jackie

  19. Oh dear I thought I had commentated but looks like I haven’t. Really pleased with all my buys yesterday but haven’t had time to play as was invited to visit family today. Not long been home. This is a gorgeous card. Must give it a try. I have also got some Duck tape that is cork with a sticky back. Will try that as well. Really enjoyed Friday and Saturday. Made some lovely things. Thanks John.
