Black and Gold Heart...

Happy Saturday,

A little more drama for today and one of my first cards made using the new Foundations mirror card.  I haven't been a fan of mirror card recently as it can look a little brassy however this one has a strong gold colour and as you can tell from the picture doesnt crack when embossed.

I started by embossing a piece of mirror card wth the honeycomb haven A4 embossing folder which as mentioned didn't crack nor show any of the white backing.

Next I added 2 strips of black seam binding which works really well on the mirror card as it is slightly transparent so the colour shows through a little.

Next I cut the Jewelled heart in gold and in black cutting the centre heart out from the gold version and cutting the centre from the laced heart in the middle of the black heart.  I then added the gold over the black to make a shadow and then added the centre cut gold heart behind this.

I then simply added a seam binding bow with added gold metallic linx and a Creative Expressions vintage button in the centre.  The sentiment its made using the Love sentiment die in the jewelled heart die as a tag on line of the fall away hearts form the centre.

Vintage Friday...

Happy Friday,

As promised its back to Vintage Friday and this weeks card does have a reason.  I had n email from a lady in America who had purchased all the items need to make one of my cards form the Most Popular list on the right of the blog.  She wrote asking for the sizes however as this card was made well over 2 years ago I wasn't able to find it to measure.  Therefore I thought I would make a new version using the same die range the New York collection however altering the dies.

The finished size of the card is 9.5" x 7.5" it is a large card but as the dies are quite large and I used three in a row a large card was required.

If you want to see the original card then click HERE.

I stared by cutting the detail die in the times square die three times from French Navy foundation card.  I backed these with white and cut them into a square using the noble double pierced squares die in bright white.  Next  I added these to panel of bright white foundation card embossed with the braided vines A4 embossing folder, cut to 7.25" x 8.25" I shaded the embossing using Mediterranean blue gilding polish.

I cut a strip of the french navy and added white seam binding down the middle with strips of crystals running down each side.  I then added a messy bow of seam dining at the top with crystals in the centre and at the end of each ribbon strip.

Finally I added mats and layers of the blue and white to make the finished card as shown at 9.5" x 7.5"

Black and Gold Mia...

Happy Thursday,

How a bit of Drama for a Thursday and this black and antique gold card?  This card is a simple one where all the drama and complexity comes form the gloss and pearl card.

I stared by cutting the infinity Striplet at the 2 ends of a strip of gloss black foundations card.  I backed this with antique gold foundations pearl card.  Next I cut a piece of gold twice with the striplet and backed these with gloss black before adding this into the middle of the gold piece.

I then cut the Mia die, using all three dies in the set, in black and once again in the gold.  I then cut the outlines in black and gold and backed the main Mia die cuts with these.  I then rotated these dies in the centre of the card on top of the background.
Finally I added a couple of small bows made with black seam binding with small gold dazzlers in the centres.

Olivia's petticoat...

Happy Wednesday,

Another sample card from my shows last week on Hochanda this time a classic petticoat card made using the Antlia Gemini die.

I stared by cutting panel with the outline die from the Olivia frame and tags die.  next I cut the detail die into another panel again in white.  next I embossed  piece of wisteria and lilac card with the detail die.  I cut the centre from the lilac and added this on top of the wisteria embossed piece before fitting it back into the white die cut.  This gives the look of a paper pieced panel which is a lot quicker than paper piecing.

For the petticoat section i cut a strip of coconut white foundation card using the detail and one of theses form the Antlia Gemini die.  I backed this with wisteria using the cutting edge to match the edge of the white.  I repeated this and backed the second with lilac card.  I then mounted these above each other and added the olive panel at the top.

I made up the card as shown using layers of the three colours and added a lilac bow form satin ribbon from my stash.

Iris fluttering Heart...

Happy Tuesday,

I thought I would hare this card which was one of my demos on hochanda shows last week.  The One Day Special featuring these sold out but I'm sure if anyone missed out they are available in retail shops across the UK and rest of the world.

I stared by cutting the inner outline heart form the fluttering heart die set three time down the side of a piece of iris foundation card.  I then added the coconut white piece behind and using theta sheet as a mask cut the detail inner heart ( with the butterflies) in all three centres

Next I cut the outline detail heart in iris, added gems around the inside edge and added this around the centre heart.

For the ribbon along the side I cut the rippled striplet twice down a piece of iris card.  This falls into 2 separate piece which I added together in the centre with more of the crystals.  A page made wit the Site Wilson pierced tags and the Love sentiment from the jewelled heart set a couple of butterflies form the fall away and finished.

Today I am filming a Youtube Live video all about the Fab new Glitter Kiss from Cosmic Shimmer.  All the detail will be on facebook!

Enjoy...

Lucy in Mink...

Happy Monday,

No today's blog has not moved into fashion the title is based on the die name and the colour of the card!  I know this is an unusual combination of colours but somehow it works, to me at least.

I stared by cutting the rippled striplet down a piece of mink foundation card ( a colour I haven't used much but I will have it on Hochanda later this month) the fantastic thing about this striplet is that cut continuously it makes 2 separate border strips.  I left 2 sides attached to the card and threaded satin ribbon from my stash through the slots at the side.  The other 2 sides I adhered to the edges of a piece of Tan foundation card card allowing the colour to peep through the edge slots.

I built up stripes of the Tan, Milk and Mink with the central panel embossed with the honeycomb heaven A4 embossing folder and strips of the thin satin ribbon.

I then cut the Lucy Frames and Tags die set in mink backed with milk.  I mounted this over a section cut with the centre dies of the Lucy set in Tan and backed with mink.  I placed this at the top off the 'Stripes' and added a Chrysanthemum made with pearls of all the three colours used in the main card.  I added a messy bow of the cream thin ribbon and matching gold satin ribbon and a couple of stick pins.

Finally I added a pierced tag stamped with the sentiment and  mounted the card onto layers of the Mink, Milk and tan.

Gemini Pearls...

Happy Sunday,

I thought I would share this card today one I made especially for my Shows on Hochanda this week. I really wanted to highlight the beautiful detail in the Cassiopeia Gemini die.

I stared by cutting panels of coconut white, Cornflower and duck egg foundation card into strip 5" wide.  I then cut the detail and outline die from the bottom into 2 strips of the white. I then cut just the bottom die from cornflower foundation card and married the 2 together.

I then cut the duck egg panels using the other outline die and mounted these over the other panels as shown.  I then foam mounted one above the other and cut this whole piece to be 8" tall.

Next I cut the detail and outline die form the Megan frames and tags set in white and backed this with cornflower before cutting out the centre.

I foam mounted this on the top of the Gemini panels and then stamped the sentiment and cut it out using the centre die from the Megan set.  I added a seam binding bow made with matching binding adding a pearl embellishment from Creative Expressions in the centre.

Finally I added larger white pearl strips to the top and bottom using a third strip along the line of the Gemini in the centre.

A few layers of the white, cornflower and duck egg finish the card.

Saturday Colouring...

Happy Saturday,

I hope those of you who could enjoyed my shows over the last couple of days as much as I enjoy making them!  Today finds me in Darlington at Franki's Craft. Coffee and Chat for 2 days of workshops.

As today is Colouring Saturday I thought I would share this card as on the stamp release posts I only showed the sentiment section!  I have to say I am really happy how these red red roses have come out ( I really think these are so red they are red red lol)

I stared by stamping the corner rose form my new Tea Rose clear stamp set into the 4 corners of a 7 x 7" panel of bright white foundation card.  Next I coloured the roses using my Graphmaster Alcohol pens ( these pens really are brilliant even I can colour with them!)  I used the flooring colours which are the classic for a red rose according to Lisa Horton

Reds - 10, 15 and orange 22 ( to make the red shine) followed by warm grey in 1 and 3.

I used the 2 colours of grey to highlight the flourishes on the corners using the lighter grey to highlight the design.

I used the frame stamp from the set in the centre and added one of the sentiments from the set in the centre.  I then coloured the roses and flourishes in the same colours.  I cut this out using one of the double pierced rectangles and matted this in red and black as I felt the colouring could take the drama!

I made up the card as shown using the noble double pierced square dies its A and B to make the frame with the thin red band.

I then added a dramatic bow in black ribbon from my stash along with three red roses from the Craft Consortium always and forever range and a couple of stick pins.

Vintage Drama...

Happy Friday,

AS I am back on Hochanda today at 9am, 12pm, 4pm and final call at 7pm then I am stretching the vintage Friday idea in that I am using a vintage embossing folder on today's sample from the shows!  Full Vintage Friday next week promise ( I know I said that last week but I get confused lol)

I stared by embossing a piece of black foundation card with the honeycomb haven A4 embossing folder I then 'grouted' this using Sue Wilson's paper grouting technique using Berry Red sparkle texture paste from Cosmic shimmer ( I will be demoing this at some point today for anyone who has missed it in the past)

Next I cut the jewelled heart die from black foundation card and gently smoothed over silver metallic gilding Polish to highlight the beautiful detail on this die.  I added this to a grouted panel made using the 8x8 love hearts embossing folder.  I cut this panel into 2 and left a gap in the rich red background piece.

Next I made up a spray of the Chrysanthemum flowers and added silver and gold metallic gilding polish to the petals.  I cut scrap grouted paper with the centre die in the flowers set and shaping these added them into the centre off the flowers along with the matching leaves.

The treat cut I added sliver chocolate wedding sweets and the new iced flake glitter jewels ( don't worry about getting the sweets out they aren't that nice!)

Show some Heart...

Happy Thursday,

I'm back on Hochanda this evening at 8pm with the second part of the current die release designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.  This week I am showcasing the beautiful hearts dies which are the One Day Special along with the striplets ( you all know my weakness for a Sue Wilson Striplet).

There's a real autumnal feel to today's card but I think it could very closely be classed as spring like in a way? lol

I thought I would hare this card today which features the Fluttering Heart die along with Antlia Gemini die and my new faves the Chrysanthemum die set.  I stared by cutting the Antlia detail and one of the outline dies form the top and bottom of a piece of Milk foundation card.  I then added a panel behind this in papyrus foundation card using just the outline die to match the detail.

I cut the dies in the fluttering heart die set in papyrus, milk and tan foundation card and layers them as shown above.  Next I cut the various sizes in the Chrysanthemum die set in the same shades and using Irene's technique ( one of the ladies of my Breedon workshops) I rolled the petals in tan into the centre to make the centre of the flower and added other shades around the outside.  I placed this on a spray of the spring foliage and a messy bow in thin gold satin ribbon from my stash.

Hopefully some of you can join me tonight on Hochanda freeview channel 85, Sky 663 or online at www.hochanda.com

Hearts and hearts...

Happy Wednesday,

Another sample from the stunning dies designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions that I will have on my shows on Hochanda on Thursday and Friday this week.  The ODS will feature the amazing new Heart dies which fit the heart treat cups making perfect easy shaker cards!

For this first card I cut the infinity striplet across a piece of bright white foundation card however I extended the pattern as the die only has there panels.  I added this to a piece of steel pearl foundation card leaving the centre blank.  Next I cut the jewelled heart die cut in the pearl card and added the matching treat cup behind filled with heart shaped sweets and the new Iced Flake glitter jewels ( there is a whole range of brand new glitter jewels just launched by Cosmic shimmer that I will have on the show!

Next I cut a set of the stitched flag dies in bright white and added mats of the steel.  I stamped the sentiment, as I know you will be pleased to hear Mrs D, using the sentiment from my Michaelmas daisy clear stamp sets.

Finally I added a spray at the side which is, even I will admit, a little over the top but I love it!  I made this with blue white seam binding, metallic linx and a pearl and crystal embellishment form the Always and Forever collection by Craft Consortium.

Elegant Olivia...

Happy Tuesday,

Today's card showcases another 2 of the current range of dies designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions that will be on my Hochanda shows starting at 8pm on Thursday evening.  Today I am sharing this card made with the Olivia frames and tags and the Antlia Gemini die.

I started by cutting the outliers die on the olive into a square of bright white foundation card cut with the noble double pierced squares.  I added a panel behind this and cut the detail in the olive out form this.  I then embossed the detail die in sherbert and baby pink and cut the centre of the pink added this one the sherbet and added the whole piece behind the die cut.

Next I cut one of the edges and the detail from the Antlia die into a strip of bright white across the bottom.  I backed this with baby pink and repeated the process to make one in sherbet.  I overlapped these and added the panel at the top.

I cut the wispy fronds and the small flowers from the spring foliage and arranged these, as shown, across the side to balance the pieces.

I finished the card as shown with layers of the three colours.

Rippled Jessica...

Happy Monday,

Sorry todays post is late for some reason it didn't go live! As I was in Norfolk yesterday running a workshop for a lovely group of ladies and a gent I missed that this had not posted!

Todays card uses the rippled striplet as a background the brilliant thing about this die is that it can stack down a piece of card to make a background where all the edges line up.  I will be demoing g this technique on Hochanda soon.

Once I had made the background in duck egg blue foundation card I then cut the centre out using the outline die from the jessica frames and tags die.  I then added 2 of the stitched flags over the 'hole' and then added back the cut piece on top.  I framed this by cutting the detail die in the jessica in french navy and added this around the cut piece.

I made up 3 of the chrysanthemum flowers in coconut white with duck egg centres and arranged these around the edge on a set of the whisky fronds die cuts in cobalt.

A classic card but I love the colours!
