Media Plates...

Happy Sunday,

Firstly I would like to thank all my wonderful Blog family for the fantastic comments and reception of my new brand!  Its been truly overwhelming  If you have emailed me I will reply however I am struggling through them all at the moment I will get to you as soon as I can promise!

I thought I should start sharing some of the techniques that are possible with my new Media Plates and stamps so I thought I woulds share this Christmas card that looks complex but is really simple to produce!  The technique used is with the oval media plate and the resist technique ( there is a you tube video for this however I am waiting for it to upload!)

I stared by adding the inks to the media plate in the press to impress stamp tool.  I then went over this with a brayer to soften the colours ( all of this is explained in the youtube video for basic techniques available HERE  ) Next I used the snowflake stamp from the Winter Trees set and inked it with perfect medium then I stamped this first onto the media plate to remove the ink and secondly onto the card to stamp the coloured snowflakes.  Using this technique i removed the ink form the plate and was able to stamp multicoloured snowflakes around the card.

I then stamped the media plate onto the card ( by closing the lid of the press to impress) I added the tree stamp onto the lid and stamped this followed by the pot.

Finally I added more of the snowflakes and the sentiment.  A mat of blue card and just add this to an 8x8" card blank and finished.

A card that looks like it takes hours of shading, an oval reverse snowflake stamp and lots of hard work.  However with the stamp press and the media plate it takes 5 minutes!

Dont forget if you want a sneak peak of the orange before Tuesday's Hochanda shows then I will be at Crafting Live in Doncaster all day!

Enjoy...

  5. Morning John, another gorgeous creation - I watched the video on You Tube and the live demo you did at Doncaster yesterday, both brilliant, these stamping platforms (yes I know there are a few out there now) are really so easy to use and line up your work, best thing ever invented in my opinion especially for crafters like me who used to struggle so much when stamping that I got put off trying to do things and my boxes of 100's of stamps lay untouched. An example of this was a card I made yesterday, I cut out the die first then positioned it on the stamping base, I positioned the stamp exactly over the top and closed the lid, then opened the lid, inked the stamp and closed the lid again (or door as you say in your video's), it was perfect I was so, so pleased, an amazing tool, a must for any crafter.

Oh dear am I waffling again, sorry.

Have another great day at Doncaster, and yes I have mailed you but know you are busy and will get back to me at some stage, hugs my friend.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  6. Hi John
    A lovely card.
I had a play with my oval media plate yesterday in my Tim Holtz stamping platform - it doesn't have a foam mat and my first impression wasn't great, so I placed a couple of pieces of kitchen roll underneath the paper and got much better results. I will need to play some more!

  13. John. I think stamping will be coming back big style with the help of your media tool and mats. I must go down and see if Adrian is getting them in or even better got them already. All the comments yesterday were justly deserved as you are a brilliant crafter with lots a great tips and folk have missed you not being on TV and showing them theses things. Hochanda's rating will be through the roof on Tuesday.

  32. Hello John, lovely to see you yesterday and see some of your new range. I hope you did not have the mask Mrs D has used today on the stand at Doncaster or I will be kicking myself as I thought it was a new 'must have embossing folder' as it has embossed so well. I thought the price of the range was great. Oh well as you bring out the more products I am sure my disappointment will be replaced with joy. Have another great day at Doncaster and best wishes for the launch on Tuesday on TV. WakeyL

  60. John I enjoyed meeting you again at Stoneleigh where I was introduced to the gel pads, stamping pad etc. Can you advise me however, I keep getting bubbles in my work and can’t see a way round it. I have not bought the new ink pads which will have to wait a little ( due to overspend at show)
