Cherry Blossom...

Happy Monday,

Firstly I would like to than k all the lovely women of Kent ( no special mentions June or Martine!lol) who came to the workshop yesterday.  It was  fab day with a wonderful spread ( I am finishing off the chocolate cake as I type this!)

Back to today and I thought I should, as promised, stick away form the trees and media plates for a bit so thought I would share a hybrid card using stamping and die cutting with even some embossing thrown in!

I stared by cutting a square of card 4"x4" I then added this to the corner of my Press to Impress stamp platform and added the cherry blossom silhouette stamp to the platform covering one of the sides.  I inked this with Grenadine Izink dye ink and stamped this.  I rotated the card four times stamping the blossom each time until they met to m are the frame as shown.  I then reversed the stamp and repeated the process using rose izink dye ink.  Finally I stamped the sentiment, in a smokey grey versatile *( black would of been too harsh)

I matted the stamped panel in raspberry card and then cut 4 matching panels of white at 3.5" square and embossed them with the Crafts Too solid roses square embossing folder.  I shaded around the edges with more of the Rose ink and the new mini blending tool.  These I matted onto a large square of the raspberry card.

To finish the card I added 2 strips of a matching ribbon from my stash and placed the whole piece onto an 8" x8" card blank.

The flowers and Ivy are cut in white card and shaded with the rose ink ( I think there was a little of the dawn on my blending tool as I've got a little orange as well!)  I don't know what the dies are as they are from an old folder I found whilst tidying I believe they are Nellie ones but I'm sure you can add some from your stash!

Enjoy...

  5. Morning John, well what can I say, I had the most fantastic day yesterday in the workshop, I truly learnt so, so much that I had never even thought of before, talk about awe inspiring you were amazing, such a great teacher, I felt honoured to be part of it, and yes I did get a little bit of ink residue on my fingers but the tip about the 'Wilko' kitchen wipes really did work a treat. It was a fabulous spread, I know that Martine and Hellen spend ages preparing it and I did over indulge a little bit, I bet the scales will tell me this when I get on them this morning. It was so lovely to catch up with you again - last time we met was Detling (hope you are coming to the next one we have).

Now to this card, because of yesterdays workshop I can now know exactly what you did with this, I can picture every stage in my mind and can certainly have a go at it. yes!! oh and I like the colour combinations too.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  8. Good morning John,
So happy to hear it all well so well yesterday, we had no doubt about that.
June sounds as though she had a ball and learnt so much. I know Hazel and I learnt lots at the Demo day we attended. Doing a Worshop will be so much better.
I love today's card, the Stamp Press will make that so much easier. Great colours and design.
Hope you might manage to relax just a little today ... do try!!

  11. Good morning John. Loving today's card and I feel I could do this without pulling my hair out. Have to say the stamp press is the best bit of kit I have bought for a long time. Daughters is off to the Fair Isle to visit husbands brother and sister and seeing how she loves crafting her gift from daughter is going to be the stamp press, some stamps and inks if Adrian's still has a press left that is. Enjoy your day. Hazel x

June, I can understand you saying your learnt so much from John's workshop, I did from his demo day he did up here. Great teacher and as you say it stays in her mind. I can't wait from November it will be worth the trip.

  23. Really beautiful John, I love the colours, the very pretty topper you made and the two strands of very narrow ribbon behind, which in itself is hardly noticeable but seems to set up everything else.
