Vintage Friday...

Happy Friday,

I'm amazed how quickly the Vintage Friday comes round every week.  This weeks vintage card is made using a combination of Canada and Portugal.  I stared by cutting just the outline die in the Canadian background into a piece of tan foundation card twice so that the pattern overlaps making a square(ish) shape.

I backed the background with vellum and foam mounted this over a piece of periwinkle foundation card.  I then studded the centres of all the flowers with 3mm cream stick on pearls.

Next I cut the centre panel in the die into a piece of tan and backed this in the same way before foam mounting it over the centre of the front.  For the main element I cut the first three dies in the Lisbon set in periwinkle twice and backed these in periwinkle before rooting them to make a square shape from.  I foam mounted this above the centre panel so it frames a square of the pattern.

I then cut all three of the blushing rose dies in tan and backed these with periwinkle making the leaves from the set in the alternate colour way ( blue on tan)

I added this over a messy bow of 6mm tan and 3mm blue satin ribbon.

Finally for today I added a couple of stick pins to match and a few layers of the tan and periwinkle.

Enjoy...

  2. Hello John, this card is lovely, the dimension with the different die cuts really gives it a very complex and intricate look. Bx

  6. Morning John, oh yes a lovely card, I am so pleased you do the Vintage Fridays, we get bombarded from so many companies with new dies and stamps almost everyday through the media and other outlets that it is so nice to be reminded of the old favourites that need to see the light of day again. This periwinkle is a beautiful colour especially at this time of year when there are new flowers popping their little heads out. Gosh sounds like I am waffling again today, take no notice - it is her age !! haha

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  17. Stunning! I have the background die which I love but rarely use - another note to self
I need to see this card in real life because tan and blue are not colours I can envisage together

  18. Yet another beautiful card John. The roses are lovely. I haven't used mine lately - must get them out. They're great for cards that have to go in the post because they lie flat.

And this is such an enjoyable card John. Gorgeous. At first I thought you'd got the Californian b/grd out but of course the Canadian one is very similar. I never tire of Sue's dies, they are as fresh now as they were when she first brought them out.
    Have a good weekend
    Hugs, Rose

I'm not mad for the rose dies but can see they would be useful for flatter postage. Still a lovely card and I know how much you love that background die.
