Vintage Friday...

Happy Friday,

Its that time of the week again and this week Ive selected some of the dies from the Californian Collection I seem to be following the relates at the moment as this was the third collection form Sue Wilson's first release of dies for Creative Expressions!  I have loved playing with this collection and can see so many great ideas in it so you may see this collection popping up more!

I stared by cutting the background twice into a piece of vanilla pearl foundations card slotting the die back into the design to continue it as a square.  I cut the centre out with the Beverly hills die and mounted this over midnight blue pearl foundations card.  I do think it was when i bought this background die and cut out for the first time that I really feel for Sue's designs!

Next I cut the first three dies form the Beverly hills die in vanilla and backed it with midnight.  I foam mounted this above background to create depth.  I added a label from one of the other sets ( sorry not sure which one at time of writing) cut in vanilla in the centre and added s amped stitched flag coming form the aperture.

I cut all of the Faux Quilled blooms from midnight pearl card and the leaves ( from the same set) in vanilla and arranged these around the frame.

Finally I added a couple of stick pins made with the Stick Pin elements and added layers of the vanilla and midnight to make this 7.5 x 7.5" smaller than it looks, card!

Enjoy...

  23. Very pretty card today John. Unfortunately there are only two collections I have no dies from and that is this and the Canadian collection. Neither are because I dont like them, they are both on the list of wants - unfortunately there is not a lot of chance of winning the lottery (I dont do it), so alas they all have to wait until the end of each month when I usually choose the one or, if I'm lucky, two I can get that round.

Hope things are going well in Germany

  27. Hi John,
This is an absolutely beautiful card, and my kind of blue also. I think the Californians were Sue's first release, at least I think they were the first ones I bought and have never looked back. I now have just over 1000 dies of hers and every single one is loved.
Have fun in Germany, and have a Bratwurst for me.
    Hugs, Rose

  36. Wow John this is stunning, i really love and appreciate
the older dies being shown as they seem to get pushed aside
    when new ones are released.
Which is a shame as every single one of Sue's dies is
    gorgeous.
It is lovely to be reminded and prompted to get them back and and to use again.
