New Year means a new structure on the blog and I thought I would do something I lawyers mean to start but don't quite get around to and that is revisiting some of the older collection designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions. Therefore every Friday I will make and post ( Hochanda shows permitting!) a new card made using some of the older collections of dies.
Amethyst and Heather. I stared by cutting the inner die from the lotus striplet across a piece of icicle pearl foundations card and placed squares of the lilac shades behind this.
Next I cut dies 1, 2 and 3 from the syntra die in heather card and backed it with rich plum. I foam mounted this over the centre square. I cut the family tree die in icicle pearl and cut this up to make the foliage which I added along with a lilac bow and some flowers from my stash.
I then cut dies 1, 2 and 4 from the syntra die in heather and cut this in half adhering a panel at the top and bottom of a larger mat of the rich plum.
I finished with a few layers of the colours and finished.
see something new from next week!
Another new regular feature tomorrow Saturday Colouring!
Enjoy...
Morning John, a gorgeous card and a great idea to revisit older collections to give us some inspiration to use some of the dies we have, can't think of any at the moment but will check to see which ones I have, I know I use my Gemini dies a lot so maybe some with that one and thanks again for the inspiration you gave us in 2016 and looking forward to more this year.

Hi John,
ReplyDeleteLove the card. I think we sometimes forget the older dies so it's great to be reminded. Fabulous idea to remind us every Friday.
Have a great day.
Happy crafting.

Good morning John what a great idea of showing us ideas with the older dies as it reminds us what to do with the older dies we have.
ReplyDeleteToday's card is outstanding and I love the colours and the design I do have these dies so I will be having a go at this one

Hi john
ReplyDeletewhat a stunning card love the colours and the dies thank you tracyw x
Both lovely and unusual John, I like this and I love the fact you are going to inspire us to once again get out our older dies. I am sure others like myself sometimes forget about using the older ones when all we see in the latest model (though love seeing them of course).
ReplyDeleteMy sight is slowly improving and as long as I am not on the computer for long I am doing ok now, so hope to be back commentating on a regular basis John.
Happy New Year to you all everyone who follows this site.
Best wishes
Helen
Hi John

What a nice idea to give the OAP dies a second life. Fab card John, I have the Sinatra die, so might just get it out of retirement now I've seen your card.

Beautiful card & a great idea using older dies. I'd like you to feature the Californian background die or any of Sue's striplet dies please.

Beautiful card John, love the idea of using our older dies, I do tend to forget them and use the latest. I also like the idea of mixing the old with the new.

Enjoy your day

A great idea to use older dies as I'm sure like me, many people have spent a lot over the years and everything needs to be used. A lively card today.

Fabulous idea John, using older dies. And a gorgeous first one! Xx
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea John, we invest such a lot of money in these dies we really should get value from them. It is sometimes so easy to get caught up in the latest one. Nice to mix old and new as well. Love Rosemarie X
ReplyDeleteMorning John, what a brilliant card and a fantastic idea, you have certainly given me inspiration with this one. I think I may be like others that I forget about the older dies so am looking forward to 'Revisiting Fridays'.
ReplyDeleteAlso looking forward to colouring Saturdays, I am not as confident with colours so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx
Hi John,
ReplyDeleteStunning card, and love your ideas about "revisiting" and "colouring". Whilst I'm happy with my colouring, I would not be so presumptious to say that I know it all..........
Hugs, Rose
Good Morning John, well bully for you I love that you go back on old dies as otherwise they just sit in the drawer, this card today is really beautiful and I look forward to your next revelation with the colouring. hugs Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteHi John what a great idea to re-visit old dies, not only does it remind us to use them but reminds of some that we have on our wish list which seem to get forgotten about when the new dies launch.
ReplyDeleteGreat card today

Hello John. Brilliant idea to bring out the older dies. I always mean to but just don't get round to it! It would be great to get some inspiration to use some of Sue's earliest dies - the Californian, Italian, and Spanish collections. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Diane (Cards2Di4) x
Morning John, A brilliant idea, and a beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Patricia xx
A lovely card John, and a great idea to revisit the older dies. I think we all neglect our older ones because we're so excited by getting new ones. I know I have dies that I haven't used for ages, which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, xxxx
ReplyDeleteI had some new die storage for Christmas, like your magnetic sheets on board, and spent yesterday sorting all my dies out so your idea to revisit older dies is just perfect for me. It's amazing how quickly you forget what you have got!
ReplyDeleteAnne (Northampton)

Hi John, this card certainly has the wow factor, love the design and colours. Great to see older dies being used. Have a great day. Bx
ReplyDeleteGood morning John, how strange that you have decided to revisit older dies. In sorting out everything for my new craft room I sat down only yesterday and looked through a file I have. I started following Sue's blog in 2011 and at that time used to photocopy a lot of her blog for inspiration. I decided I must get out the dies of the time and revisit some of the ideas.....and now today you have the same thought. Great minds or what??? Love from Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteHello John,
ReplyDeleteLovely card and inspired idea to visit older Dies! We get in a rut so easily! Well, I do!
Looking forward to the colouring feature too. Thank you for working so hard on our behalf.
Love Myra

Hi John. What a good idea to revisit some of the older dies which tend to be put away and forgotten about once we get our newer dies. This will encourage us to get them back out and have a play. Love the colours you have used.
ReplyDeleteLisbeth
Hi John. Lovely card and I like the colours you have used today. Looking forward to tomorrow's blog to see your colouring. Hope you are using your Graphmaster skills. I had to buy them after watching Lisa demoing them. SueL
ReplyDeleteJohn it is so nice when you get a refresher on dies that you have in your stash but just have forgotten about because of the "new and better looking dies".
ReplyDeleteI love this idea of visiting old collections of dies What I love most about this card is that centre panel using part of the Striplet die Another colour if this panel and could easily be used for male cards
