Classic in Cobalt...

Happy Monday,

I thought I would freshen the palette today with a classic card in cobalt and bright white after spending yesterday Christmas Shopping and gift wrapping ands Saturday night dressing my tree I wanted smarting fresher!

I have added picture of my Christmas Tree at the end of the post if you want to see it!

Today's card is made just using the Tahiti die form the Pacific island collection and the Lotus striplet ( you know I love a striplet)

I started by cutting the outer, detail and inner die form the lotus striplet into Cobalt foundations card.  I then cut the outer die from bright white and adhered the blue cut over the top.  I then cut the final detail panel form the centre of the white.

I repeated this three times and placed them down the side of a piece of card I had cut the detail form the striplet down the side adding cobalt at the back.

For the main element I cut the Tahiti die in white card and carefully took the die cut out leaving the 'waste' in the die.  I cut the outline die form cobalt card that I added double sided adhesive sheet to.  I pulled off the protective coating and added this to the die with the pieces in place.  This transferred the 'waste' pieces to the cobalt and I added diamond sprinkles to the exposed adhesive.

I cut the centre die from the set in white and threaded cobalt thin ribbon from my stash through the slots finishing with a stamped sentiment on cobalt cut with the smallest die in the set.

I finished with tail of the ribbon and a crystal pearl heart embellishment form Craft Consortium.

No flowers so would work as a men's card or for many occasions.

Enjoy...

I forgot earlier so heres the tree! x

I used a colour scheme of Glass, Crystal, Copper, Silver and Duck egg and I have to admit I Love the look.  I'll add the rest of the decorations through this week!

  1. Fabulous card today. I too love striplets and this would work for men or ladies cards. I have to finish my Christmas cards this week and also have two birthday cards to do - both for men so I might steal the idea for one of them.
We too did our tree this weekend but I haven't wrapped any presents yet. Would have loved to see your tree. Did you forget or am I missing something?
    Have a great day.
    Happy crafting.

  2. I saw this card when you had it with you at Nottingham last week. It's really lovely, and a smart attractive card for a man (or anyone who doesn't want a fussy flowery card). You didn't add your Christmas Tree, but I did see it on your FB page. It looks lovely.

  5. Morning John, a gorgeous card and it would make a great man card. My tree has been up for a week now and all my presents in and wrapped(about 50 of them) we have so many that I wrap them as I buy them to save the hastle but you have to write all the things you have got for each person or you forget what you have wrapped I do that often so learned the hard way I guess you forgot to add photo but I wil check your Facebook I would love to see your tree.

  17. Morning John,
Love the card today, and the colours you have used.
I haven't got this striplet (yet) another to my ever growing list. I love the striplet dies and how versatile they are.
Your tree is gorgeous, mine is a multitude of colours with home made ornaments on it made over the years. Plus a few very old baubles that were my parents.
Glad to hear you are having time out for yourself.
    Enjoy

  20. Love this one John, very smart and quite manly in the colours you chose though I imagine it would do just as nice for a lady in a more feminine shade. (sorry am I being sexist lol).

  26. Hi John. What an unusual way to use the striplet dies, I love it. Love the tree and I can see the mantra "less is more" does not apply to your house at Christmas!!

  31. Your cobalt and white card with its brightness woke me up this morning. I like your idea of using the double sided adhesive sticky sheet to remove the "waste" pieces from your die. Now why have I not thought of that idea. John, you are full of wonderful technique ideas. Thank you for sharing. I like your lovely Christmas tree. It does not surprise me that your tree is in shades of blue! Wishing you a wonderful and blessed week.
