more details...

Happy Saturday,

I'm on the road again at Franki's Craft, coffee and Chat today and tomorrow doing workshops with the lovely ladies of Darlington!  I thought you might like more details on this card which made a quick peak at the launch of my Christmas Stamp range.

Ive had so many questions about the background I thought it deserved its day in the sun!

For the background I coloured a piece of watercolour card using aqua lagoon pixie powders.  Next I added the all stirred up mask from that special touch over the top.  I then made up a batch of multitex texture paste powder with the bluebell intense pigment stain ( i will be demoing this on the 12th August on Hochanda)

Next I cut the piece into 9 equal squares which I mounted onto white squares to make up the background.

To make the card I stamped the sentiment and the leaping reindeer onto heat resistant acetate.  I then covered the back of the reindeer with cosmic shimmer dries clear glue and added silver chrome polished silk glitter.  Once dry the glitter shows through as if floating.

I wrapped the acetate over the front of the background and hid where I glued it on using a trip of ribbon which I stamped with the border from one of my border tips on the flourishes clear set.

I added the whole piece to a few layers of card which I added the deck the halls stamp around the edges.

Enjoy...

  7. Hi John and crafters all,
Lovely card this for an alternative Christmas card, the floating reindeer is a great idea.
Would make a great men's card done with autumnal colours and minus the Christmas sentiment.
Enjoy your crafty weekend in Darlington.

  26. Hi John. What a very good idea to stamp the main elements onto acetate and place over the top of the background. However to me the background design is a bit too bold so that the reindeer and sentiment get a bit lost on top of it. Nice idea though.

What a lovely card John, very unusual. Love the look of the pixie powders, so might have to have a lesson at Ally Pally. If anyone's doing a demo of them.

  35. Hi John,
I love this card and saw it on your show on Hochanda.
Last of your posts for me to catch up on but bookmarked this one for me to try my version as soon as I have time.
Off to drink my tea before my peace is shattered. Looking forward to seeing our Grandaughter but will be tired out by the end of the day, how a 1year old gets their energy I don't know.
Enjoy your day, I'm looking forward to your workshop at Rainbows and Ribbons on 18th Augusf.
