A little gold...

Happy Wednesday,

Well I thought it was time for a little gold, did I say little this card seems to drip gold but hopefully in a tasteful way.  I think its the background that really stands out in this card.

I stared by stamping the stunning butterfly background from justrite in perfect medium onto coconut white foundation card. I then added the new Cosmic Shimmer Gold sparkle embossing powder and heat set it.  This background is a negative so the pattern is revealed in the backing card with the gold area framing the pattern.  I then hand cut this into this fall shape.  The great thing about stamps, and backgrounds in particular, is that you don't have to use these as they stamp you can cut them out or into them.  This to me at least makes these so flexible.
Next I cut two of the garden circle die, one win black and one in the white, the white die cut I added perfect medium to and the  covered it with the gold sparkle embossing powder and heat set it.  This makes a stunning sparkling die cut with very little effort!  I offset the ball die cut behind this to emphasise the detail and added this to the top of the die cut flag with a strip of black seam binding.

Next I added a bow made form gold silky crush ribbon with a black seam binding bow on top.  I added one of the diamante and pearl embellishment from the Always and forever collection by Craft Consortium ( these were on the Wedding show with Julia Watts last week).

A few layers of black and white and finished perfect for a golden wedding or other occasion but definitely a statement card!

Enjoy...

  8. Morning John, oh thank you so much for putting this card on your blog today, I fell in love with it when I saw it on Hochanda yesterday, and then later in the afternoon you did the black and white window square one which gave me the opportunity to see how the stamp and embossing powders worked - yes I had to add them to my basket - I didn't realise that you free hand cut the middle bit I thought it was a die, silly me, why get a die when you can do it so easily by hand. Thank you so much once again, love it.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  13. Morning John,
This card is absolutely gorgeous, I might just do my version of this for a invitation for Golden Wedding party I'm organising, For the guests of honour as its a surprise party.
You are an inspiration to me but keep tempting me with new stuff all the time lol. Must resist at the moment, I have to finish these two patchwork quilts I'm working on.
    Have a great day

  19. I like the design in general but agree that the die cut at the top makes it look a bit top heavy. The lovely background could stand alone without it and still be really lovely.

  20. Hi John
This card certainly makes a statement. I also think the due cut at the top isn't needed. However, it wouldn't stand out so much if the card was made in a paler colour. But love the initial design. But it would suit someone else's tastes though. Good job we all don't like the same thing though isn't it. I've recorded your shows, so will sit down later today to watch them.

  21. Good morning John,
I love that justrite die, it is so pretty and different. I loved the use the you had of making it frame the design the other day when you cut it 4 times around. Your black layers just so nice and fine that they pop the white just lovely and add that touch to your lovely card. Thank you John for another piece of inspiration,
