Aprils Child in Buttermilk...

Happy Friday,

I know its really not a usual colour for me but when I first designed my paper pack I was determined that I couldn't call a paper Pack Spring Selection without a soft spring like yellow and this is the colour / shade I came up with.  I have to admit that yellow is not my colour but for some reason this shade really sings to me!

This is one of a series of cards I have made, all with the same dies and embellishments but in each of the 6 spring shades, that hopefully highlight the paper pad.  I will be demonstrating this card in other colours at Grafton Crafts tomorrow in Bicton click HERE for details of the showroom.  This will be my first live demo of my new ranges and I have to admit I am little nervous of how they will go down!

This set of cards will also feature on my Hochanda shows starting at 8pm Monday night so you will get a chance to see them in more detail then.
I used a selection of dies form the new range form Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions and a range of the buttermilk papers form my paper pack.

I stamped the sentiment form the Springs Child stamp set which continues the idea of a poem, handwritten by me, for each month detailing the positive attributes of people born that month.  This set covers March, April and may.

I also used the Dotty Daisy A4 embossing folder for the background as the pattern matches so well and this will feature on the shows on Monday and Tuesday.  I shaded this with lemon meringue colour cloud blending ink and matted it with primrose foundation card.  Next I added  layer of the paper, the Australian collection background and a piece of the spring trail paper in buttermilk.

The flowers are made with the daisy dots paper in the sweetheart flower dies with the outlines, in bright white, over the top.  I then added the beaded swirl flourish behind and used Phill Martin's Graceful mustard PVA dimensional glue as the centres as again the colours tie in perfectly!

I hope you can tune in next week to see all the products in the first half of the release demonstrated.

A quick note the bright white card I have been using is a relatively new colour of foundation card and is different from the coconut white I always use.

Enjoy...

  4. Hi John,
Wow1 what a gorbeous card today. The bright white card was in the pack I bought from Hochanda. I thought it was a mistake as it is brighter than coconut white. It's a nice white though. Love it! and the paper pad is stunning.

  22. Good morning John,
What a beautiful card John and so true in what you have got in your stamp sentiment. I was so very lucky to have my daddy that was all of this and more and his birthday would be 8th April, so as i say very apt it would have been for him. Your card is stunning flower from top to toe and i think that i am going to need to invest in your months of the year stamps. He was also born on a Sunday and was "bonny and blithe, good and gay" (when it meant happy). Thank you John for your beautiful card and in such a lovely soft shade of yellow.

  42. Hi John

    Beautiful card as usual.
I have been racking my brain to remember a product that I think you used. It enabled you to make your own sticky masks to place over stamped image instead of using yellow stick its.
Can you help me John as it is driving me mad.
