Still in Canada...

Happy Friday,

I thought it might be fun to visit Canada again as I simply love this background die and the corner, border and tags set matches beautifully!

I stared by cutting the centre panel from the Canadian collection background on its own in Coconut white card.  I then cut it out around the die to give me the panel.  I then foam mounted this onto primrose card and added a thin mat of the coconut white.

To make the background of this card I cut the Canadian border four times out of primrose foundation card and mounted 2 facing each other along a strip of the white.  I matted this strip onto white and another layer of primrose before adding a strip of raw silk satin ribbon (the thin one that comes in the pack) tied around the centre.  To make the next layer I cut a piece of the white and added the two cut borders, again facing each other,  to the edges and from mounted the centre strip in place.  I added a few layers and mats of the primrose and white to make a landscape card with the background panel added, with from tape, to the left hand side in the centre.

The flowers are made with Sue's stunning new classic folded flower die in white felt.  Julia Watts has kindly made a video tutorial on how to make these flowers, click HERE to  see the video.  I added these to a double bow, made with 2 strips, of the raw silk double sided satin ribbon from the same pack as the thinner ribbon used previously.

All the dies mentioned are available in Julia's online store and she also has a small quantity of the Watercolour palettes that sold out on Create and Craft on Tuesday.

Today will see me travelling down to Norwich for Saturdays demo day at Sew Simple click HERE for details of the shop.  I can't wait as I am informed that there is a kind of village around the shop with cafes, chocolate shops and a farmers Market!  If you are in the area pop in and say Hi or  just ask any questions you want I'm there to help with Sue's new range of dies and my stamps as well as my usual plethora of Cosmic Shimmer must haves!

  21. Beautiful card John. That background die and the border die are two of my favorites too. I was wondering what you use to adhere the border strips? I've been hesitant to purchase this border die because it is so thin and delicate, I'm not sure how you could adhere it. But obviously there is a way since you put four of them on this card!

  23. Hi John,

Absolutely gorgeous, I had commented on Sues blog that I thought that background was ripe for chopping up, I'm so glad you've done it (properly!) So I know it does look fantastic. The background is an easy thing to do with almost any border but something you don't remember to do. Again, glad to see it done with real class so I know what to aim for. Colours are lovely even though it's not something I'd choose but seeing it I might give it a go. Felt flower is a cute finishing touch

    Hugs,

  27. Afternoon John, a great card today using the Canadian collection dies. I too have done 2 different cards using this die. I have one shown on my blog today and the other one will be shown on Saturday. My only criticism of the inner panel die is that the daisy's are square !! so when you try and do a square background using this die you end up with a small panel in the centre as will not work out. Unless I am doing something wrong (probably LOL !!) let me know if I am. Janice xx
