Time to Cherish...

Happy Friday,

Todays card is another made at the same time as yesterdays new year card this time I have gone for a cooler blue palette again using coconut white as the compilmentary colour.  This card is made with an unusual background technique however it doesn't come through in the pictures very well.  What I have done is to add Tropical blue and Golden light mica powders (from the garden set by Creative Expressions) to the rear of a piece of acetate using a double sided adhesive sheet.

Here is a shot of the background I hope you can catch the shine and colour in this one a little bit!

The reminder is the scandinavian background die, cut in coconut white.

The background is a piece of card run through the art deco A4 embossing folder with perfect medium and the blue mica rubbed over the design.  This gives a subtle shading and shine to the piece.  The remainder is just layers and hand cut frames for the same pale blue and coconut white card.

Finally I added a bow from pale blue silky crush ribbon and a centre gem, all form Creative expressions sue wilson range.

The winner of yesterdays card was Sam Smithard so if you email me with your address to lockers@live.co.uk I will post it out in the next few days!  However if you didn't win don't worry I am intending to give a card away every week hopefully on a Monday so there should be plenty more chances!

Enjoy...

  3. Eh up John
The bow is a bit big for me but still a very pretty card. Trying to work out whether you mica the acetate or the sticky sheet! Im sure it shines in real life.
    Have a great day.

  4. Hi John. Love todays pretty card but have to agree with Mrs Duck about the bow, it is too big for me, it hides the beautiful sentiment. Congratulations Sam, enjoy the beautiful card : ) Take care.

  6. Ooh err I think the bow is too big too! Great technique with the acetate I assume you stuck background on the sticky sheet, then the acetate Removed second side of sticky sheets then used mica...? Would love a video

  13. Good morning John todays card is so beautiful really love the design but must agree with some of the other comments the bow does rather detract from the lovely design of your card just a little smaller would look so much better I feel.

  16. Morning John, thanks for the offer to give away a card each week.
Love this card, but, sorry, like the others, I feel the bow just swamps the card. You can't see the lovely centre, or the mica background.
    Cheers

  18. I never critique your cards John, but I have to go with the others here; the bow is too distracting. I love the rest of the card though.

  19. Stunning card John, love the design on this, sadly the mica powders do not show their full potential but I can visualize it lol! I love the big bow but I feel it hinds the sentiment a bit, maybe it should be moved to the right a little??? Who am I to judge?

    Love & Hugs

  20. Love the beautiful soft colors of today's card This die has to be one of my favorites as well.Would be interested in more information on mica technique that you used. The color of the bow and style is lovely but I have to agree, a bit too large. A smaller one would make the card even better.
