Christmas Birthday....

Happy Friday,

Sorry today's post is late, I was intending to finish off some of my blog posts whilst in the green room yesterday however in all the excitement and nerves I kinda forgot to finish today's!  Firstly thank you to everyone who tuned in and emailed me or the show It was wonderful to feel such support and friendship from my blog family.  I loved the whole experience and had a wonderful day although was a little unnerving when late last night Mr Next Door put the computer on and played one of the shows while we were eating a late take away!

Another card from Yesterdays shows and whilst this is not strictly a Christmas card, so shouldn't be on a Christmas Friday, it is designed especially for those people who have a December Birthday so It has a Christmasy feel!  This card uses the same technique as I demoed in my first show with Sue however this time I have used the Snowflake lattice and detail white embossing powder on the debased side of the card.  I love this technique!!

This is quite a deceptively simple card as the work is all done by the embossing folder, the stamp and the detail white embossing powder from cosmic Shimmer.  The bow is tied using the striped Grosgrain ribbon with the white tulle added over the top before tying the double bow.  It makes a large knot and takes some tying but its worth the effort to give a different looking bow.

It's really only in this picture that you can see that the colours are Navy and White, I'm sure on most peoples PC's it will look black and white.

The tag is cut with one of the shaped dies form the French Collection set Burgundy I have simply clipped off the top, bottom and the rounded edges to give a different interesting shape.

Ingredients:

Scenic View stamp to die for
Creative Expressions Embossing Folder Snowflake lattice
Sue Wilson's Dies
Burgundy
Augverne
Cosmic Shimmer Detail White embossing Powder
Blue Stripe Grosgrain Ribbon

Enjoy...

  2. Morning John,

Beautiful card, saw this one on yesterdays show, I love this technique too. You were fabulous yesterday, yes a little nervous but who wouldn't be! I was so glad when Jacqui took the paper from you to put the embossing powder back in the container lol! I don't think any words would have come out of my mouth, which makes a change!!! You did brilliantly though and I look forward to your next time.

    Love & Hugs

  3. Morning John,
    I wondered where you were!
Tremendous Shows yesterday and you did a "Terrific Job" and I'm so looking forward to Watching you on Create and Craft in the future, the only thing that annoys me is the presenters I understand they have a job to do and of course sell the products but they talk So Much where we wish to see Sue and now Yourself with your Awesome Cards, I Loved The Samples you took along The Stamping and The use of Distress Inks etc: was fabulous I Loved it when you used The Stamps to match Sue's Dies.
TODAYS Card Is Awesome in both the Black and the Navy I think it's great to make a Birthday Card for December as I have a couple to make and I always struggle with ideas, I Love The Stamp you've used and The Beautiful Grossgrain Ribon it's Fabulous to use, Thank You For Sharing John and For all the hard work that you did getting your Beautiful Cards ready for the shows yesterday.
    Hugs from Sam x

  4. Hi John. Congratulations on doing so well on the shows yesterday. You did a great job of the demos and to be honest it was hard to tell it was your first time!
It is so satisfying to see you getting to where you deserve to be : )
Love todays card, what a surprise I got when I scrolled down and saw that it wasn't black and white! I struggle with 1 piece of ribbon so not sure what would happen if I tried to add in the tulle, must have a go when I want to cheer myself up as it will make me giggle as I get in a right tangle : )
I hope you can relax over the weekend. Well done again. Take care.

  6. Well done!!! Your demo's were great and you managed to chat and explain throughout, (pretty hard with the presenter you had too). Any small nerves are forgiven when we see the quality of your work.
Glad you enjoyed the experience, the first of many I am sure. That green room will be like a second home soon.
Love this one, yes, ideal for those winter birthdays.
    Cheers

  12. Eh up John
Well matey, you're the only one I would stay up til gone midnight watching that fuzzy screened app for lol! Like I said earlier, you took to it like a duck (had to be) to water!
Can't wait for you to fly solo.
I'm getting black and blue for the card but I don't mind as its terrific anyway. Not mad for tulle, but that's just my personal taste rather than it detracting from your super card.
See you tomorrow with my autograph book (don't worry, I won't throw underwear lol!)
    Have a chilled day.

  13. I watched you yesterday (online from the US and you did a superb job John, looks like you were doing this forever. I loved the tip about using liquid adhesive with the dimensionals, that right there was worth the money, so to speak. The cards you presented were quite lovely and I am/was sad that I could not purchase anything. The shipping costs to US are quite high. Thanks for the small card you made for your US fans, it gave me lots of good ideas. Hope to see you again soon on Creat n Craft TV!

    1. Paula flower, i was reading your comment about postage prices. Try Joanna Sheen as i am sure she is much better for posting out of the country. I know that in Britain she is free postage over £10(about $15) and is much as i think that she is outside i cannot be 100% certain, but it wouldn't hurt to go on her site and find out or email to ask. I hope this helps you flower get the beautiful dies of Sue's,
      take care

  14. Good morning John,
I am so glad that you had a lovely day yesterday and i can see that you are a guy after my own heart when it comes to sticky squares of mounting foam, i hate a card to not have enough support or anything else that comes to mind. You made some beautiful cards and samples yesterday i will have fun watching my recordings as you don't get peace in this house to watch crafting. Todays card is another beauty both in the intended Navy and White, but also in the black and white that most of the pictures are showing on my screen. It gives us an insight as to how it would look in a different colour scheme. I think this might just be the one that i do for my adopted uncle as his birthday is on Christmas day and everyone else forgets about him. Thank you for another beauty John,
    Crafty hugs

  19. Hi John
Lovely card today. I'm going to be trying the double embossing technique to see what I can come up with. Also pleased with the tip about putting glue on the pads to give you the extra moments of squaring up. THANKS! We've a few christmas time birthdays coming up and your card today provides some great inspiration. So pleased your TV debut was such a success. Best wishes, Anne O

  20. Hi John,
missed the earlier show as I had a hospital appointment, but I did tape it to watch sometime today.
I caught the last 2 live hours though and really enjoyed your demo's.
Sorry I emailed in and forgot in my haste to get back and watch you to welcome you to the show, and didn't you do well, your a natural for telly.
I did have a few little giggles, at you trying to keep a straight face with those uniforms, you controlled it perfectly.
Would have loved to have won one of your lovely creations.
Now on to today's amazing creation today a really superb design as usual, and 2 lovely and fab bows too.
As you say a great card for a Christmas Birthday.
It is showing navy on my screen, by the way.
