Last Thursday I showed my take on the Sue Wilson Spanish collection background die and a tri fold card I had come up with. This proved to be a big hit and I was asked for a tutorial. Now I usually do tutorials on techniques, this is the first time I have tried one on a whole card. I have to admit it was a little difficult as it runs long and due to the restrictions of my camera it had to be shot in five segments however it's done and below.
There are probably too many pictures of this one but I just loved both the colour combination and the different way I decorated this one. The video is the next picture so, if you have 20 minutes or so to spare, click to watch.
I'm sure you can all come up with different ways to decorate this and even different dies to try, I tried a reverse fold version of this last Thursday click HERE if you missed it. If you do make one please send me a picture as my follower gallery, which I set up to show what cards people had made and sent pictures of to me, is looking a little sparse!
Enjoy...

ReplyDeleteMorning John, (and film crew) THANK YOU.
ReplyDeleteI love this card, but could not puzzle out just how you had done it. Now I must try it. At least once I get this die. I was placing an order for it on Colemans Craft warehouse last night, (3 for 2 offer) with free delivery, until I got to check out, when they tried to charge me £4.99 postage. I live 2 and half hours north of Glasgow, still on mainland, but not according to them. So..back to Joanna Sheen.
Sorry, rant over, card looks terrific.
Cheers

ReplyDeleteHi John,
ReplyDeleteI loved this card when it was first on your blog and I tried several times to work out how you made it it but couldn't. So I was one happy bunny this morning when I saw that you had done a video on the making of it . Thank you so much for using your time to do it for us and making it so easy to follow.
Love Sheila xx

ReplyDeleteI don't know if eveyone has heard of http://www.iconuk.co.uk/ but they stock Sue's dies and are cheaper and its free delivery!
A gorgeous card John. Haven't watched video yet but will do when I have a few mos x
ReplyDeleteWotcha matey,
ReplyDeleteJust watched video. Excellent as always. Can I just clarify your measurements on one bit please. You said the two plain pieces you use for the back panel are 23cm by 8.5 but it looks longer than 8.5cm to me, as the two pieces look almost square, unless there is some sort of optical illusion. I'm thinking of doing something similar for Nesta and just wanted my measurements right.
Thanks chuck.

Absolutely riveting! Thank you John for making and sharing your video with us, I'll have to pop back to view it.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial and you have explained it so well
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Thanks for the tut. I had to have the SW die and now can make my own!!
ReplyDeleteHi John. I had a go at your cards. My first attempt was to make it smaller so it could fold into an envelope, the red one. I made the backing card smaller. I did not have the spellbinder die you used so compromised with another. I bought the new spellbinder dies that are similar to what you used. The pink is second attempt and the blue one is my favourite so far. I have just added some bling to them but not in the pictures. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1674840842745665&id=100006592966153&comment_id=1674866882743061¬if_t=feed_comment
