Something {Different} Saturday

Morning all!

Firstly I would like to say a big Heartfelt thanx for all the wonderful comments I received on my project for Hope and Chances Blog,  I really loved reading them all! Back to today and as It´s Saturday Its time for something different (for my new followers I try to showcase something different every Saturday) although to be honest recently it´s been boxes next week I have an idea for something new though.

I really love Spellbinders Bracket Edge box die but the resulting box is just too small for some projects and , so I designed (or engineered if you prefer) this version!

Tall or short, plain or decorated the choice is yours!

This box is a relatively simple one although the measurements were a little difficult to calculate.  I have double checked the sizes and will make sure that the tutorial is right for this one before posting.

The lid is made using Spellbinders Bracket Borders one die and, for once, this is the only die used to make the box.

I have photographed this against a standard Bracket Edge Box from Spellbinders so that you get some idea of scale, also the large box will fit 8 of the standard ones inside.

The above pictures show the box´s decorated and on the right is the plain version, I'm hoping to publish the tutorial for this tomorrow (Sunday) however it will be late due to the pressures of work!

For today, Enjoy...

  1. WOW have you seen how your followers have increased, well deserved, John. I have loved your creations since finding your blog a while ago. I find your tutorials amazing and have a go at making some of your creations. Well done.

I made lots of little boxes last year when I made ten Advent frame boxes (see Christine's kits at http://hope-chances.blogspot.com, I made mine from scratch). That was 10 x 25 cutting, embossing, glueing and constructing but they were made with love. You can see them if you scroll down at http://scottish-crafter.blogspot.com.

Look forward to the tutorial on the larger box tomorrow.

I don't have the box maker die but I do have some of the border dies and I am sure that I could do a decorative edge on the lid using those... well I can in my head just have to see if I can actually do it lol

  8. Morning John, I found your Blog through Christine Emberson, whose Blog I have been following for some time. Then I realised that I had heard your name before and I believe it was from Patricia of Summerhouse Crafts. I didn't realise when she mentioned you that Patricia was actually talking about a fellow crafter. Her husband is a John and, silly me, I know, I thought 'funny her neighbour is called John and he does crafting too! Duh! Anyway, you have a lovely Blog beautifully presented and your craft work is really lovely. I too am looking forward to the tutorial for the larger box as this would be handy for some larger projects. Love your work. Gemma C.

Boxes I tend to use my silhouette cameo for but actually I don't make that many and I don't know why as they are lovely to receive.

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog today:)
